Well we were talking about shrooms. I listened to music high all the time, it was much better this time.

And yes it's worth it, because it doesn't cause that much damage.

Lunch 03-20-2007 07:01 PM

Shrooms and pot aren't even a comparable experience. At all.

MattSharpIsCool 03-20-2007 08:27 PM

What damage does pot cause?

Oh no guys we are talking about drugs again

Montana 03-20-2007 08:43 PM

Short-term memory loss?

Weed, for some people and in moderation, is fine and good.

Television is a much worse drug than herb.

Eliminator 03-20-2007 08:44 PM

so are computers

MattSharpIsCool 03-20-2007 09:03 PM
Short-term memory loss?
And possible weight gain from eating too much Dominos.

I forgot about those, touche.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 03-20-2007 09:16 PM

Shrooms don't cause any physical harm to the user what so ever, mentally it's debatable, they re-connect neurotransmitters in a certain part of your brain which doesn't necessarily damage the brain, but if excessively abused the possibility of it effecting your mental health does increase. (as with any drug) Drugs are different for everyone.

If used right, I truly believe psychedelic drugs can be a great therapeutic practice.

Weed isn't near as addictive or killed near as many people as cigarettes or alcohol; I will never understand America's ignorant hate for a near harmless drug.

Smoking a jay while listening to Pink Floyd under a sea of stars on a ghostly country road is something to experience. :smoke:

I agree, for the most part. I've dabbled in psychedelics a few times, and I really enjoy them. But there is a definite risk for problems if you're not careful with them. That being said, a good time can be had with shrooms or acid, some good music, and a few friends to hang out with.
Smoking a jay while listening to Pink Floyd under a sea of stars on a ghostly country road is something to experience. :smoke:
That's completely true.

6stringed 03-21-2007 01:05 PM

haha fukin rights
of course talkin about drugs
in a pink floyd thread.

Yield 03-21-2007 03:31 PM

Oh fuck, are we talking about drugs again? Someone call me when the thread gets clean again.

Lunch 03-21-2007 04:13 PM

The drug talk is over, relax and bring up a new topic if it bothers you that much.

Yield 03-21-2007 04:15 PM

I'm not bothered by it, it just gets repetitive after all the times we go through it. Besides, I don't do drugs, so I don't get to contribute :upset:

Lunch 03-21-2007 04:20 PM

Yea, we should do something that we haven't done before and rank our top Pink Floyd albums.

Yield 03-21-2007 04:22 PM

Whatever. I've said before that everything gets repetitive, so you don't have to be a jerk.

Lunch 03-21-2007 04:25 PM

My bad, I meant that more as a tongue-in-cheek comment rather than coming off as a sarcastic douche.

Yield 03-21-2007 06:17 PM

It's alright.

Riva 03-21-2007 06:49 PM

Lunch had a very Aussie sense of humour for a second there. *gasp*

Let's talk about how much High Hopes has grown on me.

And I guess I could, very haphazardly, rank the studio albums thus:

Wish You Were Here
Animals
The Wall/Obscured By Clouds
The Division Bell/The Final Cut
Piper At The Gates Of Dawn/Dark Side Of The Moon/More
Saucerful Of Secrets/Meddle
Ummagumma
A Momentary Lapse Of Reason/Atom Heart Mother

Thanks, I tried

Yield 03-21-2007 06:59 PM

I like High Hopes. It's one of my favorite from the dehydrated Pink Floyd, but as it has been pointed out, it's not so strong lyrically.

MattSharpIsCool 03-21-2007 07:19 PM

They played a bunch of post-Waters Floyd today on the radio, and I realized the lyrics really aren't half bad. They're different than Roger's, obviously, but David does a pretty good job.

Riva 03-21-2007 09:07 PM

He makes me cringe on occasion, but he isn't the worst lyricist in rock.

However, Dave does not handle swearing like Roger did. In Lost For Words, when he sings "But they ask me to please go fuck myself" it really pulls me up short, whereas Roger does it seamlessly in songs like Not Now John.

Ya, definitely. David's true talent is in his music writing.

And Roger has more than one song with cringe-worthy lyrics, also. I'm talking more his solo stuff here, but even in some Floyd songs.

I like High Hopes too..probably one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs.
And, am I the only ones who thinks of sex on the beach while listening to Marooned?
..maybe I shouldn't have asked this. :p

Riva 03-23-2007 12:03 AM

Err... I think of neither the act nor the cocktail when listening to that song, sorry.

Roger Waters Wants Pink Floyd Reunion

Former Pink Floyd member Roger Waters has said that he would like his former band to reunite again.

Waters played Live 8 in July, 2005, with David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright.

Speaking about the event, Waters said: "I felt it was very important for me to do Live 8, and I thought it was great to get on stage with the other three guys. I had nothing but positive feelings about that... I would do something else (like Live 8) in a heartbeat - but if it was for anything more than a few songs, then I think there would be difficulties."

Waters said the relationships in the band were business like. He said: "I think it would be very cordial if we ever spoke to each other, but don't inhabit the same world socially. Rick (Wright) and I were never really friends, and Dave (Gilmour) and I were never really friends, so the fact that we are still no longer really friends is kind of irrelevant to all of our lives."

He also admitted his part in the band's demise.

Waters told Agence France-Press: "I don't think any of us came out of the years from 1985 with any credit, really. It was a bad, negative time, really. And I regret my part in that negativity. Why should I have imposed my feeling about the work and what it was worth on the others, if they didn't feel the same? I was wrong in attempting to do that."

Who else is excited about this? Even though it'll come to naught.

MattSharpIsCool 03-23-2007 01:24 AM

I'm sure we'll see the Floyd together at least one or two more times for a big concert of some sort. Too bad it will be in London or New York or some place that is much too far for me to go.

Riva 03-23-2007 07:42 AM

Heh, try living in Back O' Bourke, Australia.

I know :(

Surf 03-23-2007 07:47 AM

I could travel to London to see them, but it would cost a fucking fortune.

And High Hopes is probably my favourite post-Waters song, but the P.U.L.S.E. version is better. The album one seems a little bland and clinical. The live version is pretty epic

I just dropped a lot of cash to see Roger Waters live in Boston this summer, so part of me wishes it doesn't happen...I'd feel stupid about buying tickets for Waters when I could have held on and waited for the Floyd reunion.

MrConeman 03-23-2007 08:39 AM

Aussie Floyd tonight.

He absolutely does. I wanted to get tickets for his Hartford show in July, but by the time the WEEK LONG presale ended there were only mediocre pavilion seats left. I had seen him last year in Mansfield, MA so if I was to go this year it would have been with closest to front row I could get. Oh well, I'm sure the money will be put to some other good use...

TheDarkHorse 03-23-2007 08:08 PM

yeh

MrConeman 03-24-2007 03:37 PM

Aussie Floyd were amazing last night.
I've seen them three times now and this time was without doubt the best one I've seen.

the first time I seen them they played all of DSotM and then some classics after, and it was great. But this time they played alot of stuff they've never been playing before and even a few obscure tracks.

They played Astronomy Domine, Set the Controls..., Nobody Home, On the Turning away, Sheep, Pigs

Aswell as the obvious ones like Wish you were here, Comfortably Numb, Run Like Hell, Time etc.

The crowd were so much more into it this time, loudly singing along, and three standing ovations were given! (one for the girls singing Great Gig, one for the solo in Comfortably Numb, and then one at the end)

They are currently touring the U.K (last night was the first u.k show of the tour), if you get the chance, DO NOT miss it.

rippa32 03-27-2007 06:26 PM

I really should see them sometime, how much was tickets?

Riva 03-27-2007 07:26 PM

I know that Beyond The Darkside is touring Australia again, Rippa, and it was $49 when I saw them last year, I believe.

rippa32 03-28-2007 04:08 AM

Are they any good?

Apocalyptic Raids 03-28-2007 04:11 AM

Considering it's $49 for a tribute show, you'd want to think so.

Riva 03-28-2007 06:46 AM

You could close your eyes and think it was the real thing, except they played too much post-Waters stuff, which made sense since the lead guitarist/vocalist sounded like Dave more than Roger. Fantastic laser show and props too. As good as Aussie Floyd (which was like $69, I think)
