If I write you up a post, would you put it up there for me under the pretence that you're selling it? XD

The Thomann is the same as any other stereo power amp in that it has two separate channels, with a different volume knob for each. Same as my QSC, or a Crown, or a Powersoft.. the list goes on. It just happens to be a good price. Still don't know if I'll end up going for one or not. Not sure if you can bridge it, but you don't sound like you want bridging anyway.

But the answer is yes - I'm running a split signal into two separate preamps, through the same poweramp and into two different cabs. IMO, two full range signals sounds better than a crossover as well, having tried the two out. The low end signal from the crossover just needs such a massive and efficient cab to match the overdriven top end in power and volume.
I'm a subscribing member, yes. Edge is as well, IIRC.

I'm running through a Carvin 4x10 and 1x18. 8ohm and 4ohm, respectively. I don't remember the power handling.

I'd like to get a GK pre for a dirty channel, another pre for a clean channel, and then use the same amp for each. My cabs are actually very well suited for distortion, IMO, as I've tried out a gritty GK head and distortion with my cabs.

Is the Thomann bi-ampable? If not, I'd probably need to invest in a crossover if not.
I usually run anything under 400hz through my 18, and I seriously love the tone I get from the split.

My 4x10 has an 8ohm resistance and my 1x18 has a 4ohm resistance, so they usually end up balancing pretty well. I guess I'd still have to try it out.

What preamps are you using?

Also, I don't think it's against the rules to post for another person - I'd be happy to.

Probably not so bad for around 400Hz. I normally go for anything under about 150 for the low end. My cabs fart out at volume with that.

Currently using an Ampeg SVP-Pro with it for the dirty channel. Might consider replacing that if I can find something which does a good enough job at being balls to the wall aggressive. Aguilar Tonehammer does the cleans. Not as loud a preamp as the Ampeg, but I have the high output on my power amp to compensate.

Looked into those Thomann T Amp Class D offerings, and I'm not sold. I just wouldn't trust it. That and its 50cm deep. Wouldn't even fit in my rack.

Also may have a sniff on my Conklin on Gumtree, so I'll see how that goes first :)

Spaceman Spiff 06-14-2009 12:06 PM

I moved yesterday. What a pain. But now I've got a house, so it was worth it.

Epidemechanical 06-14-2009 12:41 PM

i have to move in like 2 weeks

Spaceman Spiff 06-14-2009 12:47 PM

Don't you just hate it?

We were living in an apartment, we got a lot of complaints from other tennants about our dogs barking, so we were given an ultimatum: fix the problem or move out.
There was no logical, rational, reasonable way to fix the problem, so we decided to leave. And now we have a house, so it's about a million times better.

Epidemechanical 06-14-2009 01:08 PM

go review my pop song spiff

Way to stick to your dog(s?) man... I'm currently looking at a house for studio purposes with one of my buddies who'd use the basement to live or vice versa... Neighbors didn't mind the playing but after 6+ takes they got annoyed...

FunkMetalBass 06-15-2009 09:45 AM

As long as you're playing at a reasonable time of day, your neighbors can stfu.

My old band had a noise complaint during one of our practices (noon, on a Saturday) - the cops came and everything.

For our next practice, we hooked up the loudest table saws that we could find, bought 3 sheets of plywood, and cut them for as long as we could. My drummer took two hammers and just banged on the other sheet. The neighbor called the cops again, who drove to the neighbor's house and told her not to make unecessary police phone calls.

Never had a noise complaint again.

I just purchased Charles Manson's album "Lie: The Love And Terror Cult." I'm curious what it's got to say.

Moon Flavor 06-15-2009 10:49 AM

Manson's music is hilariously mundane I love the song Garbage Truck

FunkMetalBass 06-15-2009 11:01 AM

That's what I've heard. You'd think it would be some sick and twisted, acid-trip inspired music - something reminiscent of a 1970's Marilyn Manson.

Moon Flavor 06-15-2009 11:15 AM

Nope just sounds like a hick sittin on his porch making nonsense folk music

FunkMetalBass 06-15-2009 11:37 AM

I'd hardly think his song lyrics would be nonsense...

**googles them**

Convectuoso 06-15-2009 04:26 PM

Lol @ manson being thought of something more than he actually he is.

Epidemechanical 06-15-2009 04:53 PM

charles manson is a bum and a complete idiot he has absolutely no worth what-so-ever he shouldnt be romanticized to be anything but the retard he is
