I recently obtained Deerhoof's [i]Friend Opportunity[/i], but I don't know anything about the band other than what my friend said. What should I expect / will I like it / has anybody heard this?

I'd say you'll either really like it or absolutely hate it. I personally think the first few tracks are really strong, and then I don't feel like listening to the rest. Definantly give it a try, though. The vocals seem wierd at first.

When Deerhoof's on, they're on. But when they're not, they really blow.

I'd agree with that. The guitar player is a beast, though.

My drummer is obsessed with Deerhoof, to the point where it's pissing me off. He makes me spend like 2 hours during practice trying to get me to sound like the guitarist. I mean, I like Deerhoof, but it's beginning to piss me off.

Vanilla Sky has a better soundtrack. Red House Painters, R.E.M., Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Sigur Ros, Bob Dylan. Still, Clerks is a way better film and that soundtrack is pretty awesome, so I guess it wins.
