Six Foot Revolver 03-18-2005 09:57 AM

Yeah, I realised I just felt like sharing with MX :)

Jom 03-18-2005 09:58 AM

Yeah, forget about living with your dad and stepmom.

If your grandma is the parent figure you want in your life, and it certainly seemed like she played a significant role while you were growing up (sad story about her losing daughters, by the way), then you should definitely go.

Shred Danson 03-18-2005 10:01 AM

Yeah, that's the way I feel. And if they refuse to let me leave, I will sue for emancipation rights. They can't keep me forever. Besides, they always say "We're kicking you out when you're 18", it's like, why wait? I'm not going to wait seven more months to get out of this hellhole. People here always say "oh, you're going to Kentucky? What a redneck", but it's like "you don't understand, man. It's more relaxing there than here".

Jom 03-18-2005 10:06 AM

Kentucky is a nice place, actually, but people give it hell because of their dialect.

If you don't have it, people will think you're sort of an alien, but at least you'll be at a place you're happy with.

///

My advice, though, if you go: make sure you show your grandma that you appreciate what she's doing for you. Be willing to do chores and work around the house for her. Don't be a lazyass.
Kentucky is a nice place, actually, but people give it hell because of their dialect.
It's a beautiful place, man. Not overrun by industry like over here in California.

Actually, I have a slight accent, which I probably inherited from my mom (despite being raised in California my whole life). And yes, I visit there regularly, especially since my grandmother moved back there a couple years ago. And it's true, one thing that sticks out in my mind is what my cousin told me: "Back there in California, y'all make fun of us for our accent, well it's the same here, man".

I've told her that, man. I told her that I'd be willing to do anything that could be of some help to her, because I know it would be better than what I do here.

I hate to sound like a myspace kid here, but it's just been burning in my mind for the past few years.

It's good that you took the initiative and not take someone's advice on it.

You should be golden, so long as you can hold out until then.

Shred Danson 03-18-2005 10:18 AM

Anyway, spring break, man. I hate to bail on my band, but it's what I have to do.

Shred Danson 03-18-2005 10:20 AM

By the way, 4,000 posts. :D

What an accomplishment.

If your band cares about your well-being at all, they'll respect your decision.

That'd be calloused and just plain stupid if they held a grudge because you're trying to make your life better.

Is the Trivium album as good as everyone says?
Is the Trivium album as good as everyone says?
Better. Anyone who doesn't think it's just is blind to music.

Yeah, I think they'll be cool with it. They'll just have to find another lead guitarist. I had a band that I formed over the summer in Kentucky, and we were going to call it In Cold Blood (<-----), but I believe they changed it because we all agreed it sounded lame and too much like In Flames.

Jom 03-18-2005 10:27 AM

Just because it has the word "In" in it? :p
Just because it has the word "In" in it? :p
Yeppers.

Plus, my style is much like old school In Flames, only with Alexi Laiho-influenced solos, so there you go.

Arucard 03-18-2005 10:29 AM

I cant wait to get it tmoz honestly. The video for 'Pull Harder On The Strings Of Your Martyr' is even good.

Six Foot Revolver 03-18-2005 10:30 AM

are you still talking about trivium Joe?
I have never heard them :upset:

Shred Danson 03-18-2005 10:30 AM

I think that their guitar work and songwriting on this is far better than on "Ember to Inferno". Check out the song "A Gunshot to The Head of Trepidity". Awesome stuff.

Shred Danson 03-18-2005 10:32 AM

Gotta go to Gemetry. Later.

^Dream~Theater^ 03-18-2005 10:33 AM

Hey guys, havent been on much lately, how's everyone been?

Arucard 03-18-2005 10:34 AM

Lol. I thought Ember To Inferno was weak.... The guitar sound wasnt fat enough. On this, they own, and their lead guitarist looks so cool when he does the hair spin thing.

Bartender 03-18-2005 10:39 AM
Did Bartender mention if he managed to get that Ratatat album I sent him?
Just found the email now, so yeah, I got it. Hopefully it will work when I get it downloaded, thanks :)

Hello all.

Jom 03-18-2005 10:42 AM

Hey Bartender.

Joe, you haven't been around in awhile :0bservant:

Bartender 03-18-2005 10:44 AM

Hi Antihero. Saw your thanks to me for CTTS stuff (even though it was about 4am for me at the time :)). What do you think of them, then (the songs you didn't already have)?

NP Tomayasu Hotei - Immigrant Song

Arucard 03-18-2005 10:45 AM

Well done. Yeh i know, ive been doing alot of band stuff, so its been abit of a bitch getting on here when i want to.

Bartender 03-18-2005 10:49 AM

What kind of band stuff?

Shred Danson 03-18-2005 10:50 AM

Wassup, Bartender.

Getting the vocals sorted out for the song i sent you. My voice is very Agnostic Front esque, so its hard to fit it in with the music...

But its a laugh.

Intro is definitely the best song by far :p

(I'm kidding)

The three songs I didn't have were Intro, Same Shade of Concrete, and Interview at the Ruins.

I really like how "Same Shade" started off and evolved, then with the obscure tempo change at :46 was very interesting.

"Interview" was a pretty unique start as well with the opening organ-esque notes that dissipated. It was definitely a darker song in tone, with the marching-feel at the end. That was definitely eery, but I liked it.

Thanks again :)

Ah, cool. Just wondered whether it was positive band-stuff or negative band-stuff you were sorting out :)

You're welcome. It's a good album. I can upload some other stuff of theirs if you like, from earlier in their career (self-titled demo and split with pg. 99), if you like.

I've got a substitute, so I figured I'll use the time to

1) Post here
2) Look up Bodom tabs because I'm tired of just playing the solo to "Wrath Within"
3) Look up plane tickets to Kentucky
4) Post meaningless lists.
