Don't read too much into the Portal connection. Both guys were in Impetuous Ritual before they joined Portal. One of the them hasn't actually been heard on a Portal recording yet.

If anything IR is a continuation of Internecine Excoriation, and even that's a stretch.

I haven't heard Internecine Excoriation yet. I already got the Impetous album. Will definitely listen to it once I get home tonight, by the description/reviews it sounds like something I'd like very much.
