I got Phil Lesh & Friends-There and Back Again today. The bonus disc is awesome, it has St. Stephen, Dark Star, and The Eleven.

Not at all.

The Stooges just may be the most mediocre band I've ever heard, maybe next to The Strokes. They're just plain; very boring.

The MC5 were original and controversial. Kick out the Jams is such a fantastic album; definitely better than anything I've heard from the Stooges (Raw Power, s/t)

(IMO)

Kick out the Jams is one of the best live albums I've heard. MC5 really doesn't get enough credit their influence on music can be heard even today. I mean not really many original concepts, more of the energy they brought with them.

Against Miik! 06-12-2005 08:47 PM

I've never listened to The Stooges, but the MC5 are awesome. They were a huge influence on Rage Against The Machine from what ive heard.

Matthew3Man 06-12-2005 08:56 PM

Lots of other people have noticed classic rock. But I'm surprised that with all the hype about Led Zep and AC/DC, I haven't heard anything about Van Halen or Rush. Whats up with that?

Funny you mention that because I just looked through all of my albums and I found that and about 20 other bootlegs of various Jam bands. (Moe, Govt Mule, Phil Lesh & Friends, Bonarroo Fest "Super Jam" and tons more that I forgot I had. I'm not even that big of a Jam band fan either.

Edit: One really caught my eye it's called "Band: Crosby/Garcia/Hart/Lesh Concert Set: 12/15/70" Do any of you know anything about it?

White_heat 06-12-2005 09:01 PM

yeah the mc5 are defenatley better than the stooges, much more energetic.

I don't think that anything that the stooges made is nearly as good as kick out the jams....... or any of the mc5's 3 albums.

But the stooges are still preety cool

I listened to one of the Super Jams on nugs, and it was fucking awesome. I forget who all was on it, but I remember Mike Gordon was in it.

It's the album I've chosen to fall alseep to. :) Speaking of Bonaroo; did anyone go? If so how was it?
It's the album I've chosen to fall alseep to. :) Speaking of Bonaroo; did anyone go? If so how was it?
My cousin went. She said there were old people on acid, people selling pot brownies at a stand that was also selling hemp necklaces and beads and ****, guys back where the campsites are nonchalantly saying "ecstasy, pot, acid" to signify they were selling it, and people smoking joints in front of cops.

Oh, and she saw DMB and the Allmans.

Against Miik! 06-12-2005 10:22 PM

O.k. so ya know that DMB concert I was susposed to go to. Well, my mom decided that she didn't trust the driver so she decided to not let me go. Needless to say, feeling a bit rebellious, I ordered the tickets anyways. She found out and confiscated the ticket. Luckily, I ordered them online so I can just print it out again. So i'm seriously considering still going becuase a) it will be awesome b) she needs to stop ruining my fun c) its summer, i've been in school all year, i've worked a job, now its my break...I deserve this, I need this. So what does everybody think?

thickasabrick 06-12-2005 10:37 PM

Alright yesterday was my birthday, so I went to buy myself some presents. The bookstore didn't have the book I wanted. And the CD store I went to didn't even have ANY Grateful Dead CDs (thats what happens when I don't buy vinyl).

I ended up getting Coldplays new album (simply amazing, if anyone cares) and a Cream album. The Cream album is called Gold, and at first I thought it was just Wheels of Fire because it's two discs, and one is all live. It basically is Wheels of Fire except they added in a couple other songs.

All in all, I had a very disappointing birthday (those CDs I bought myself were the only presents I got, besides a Bob Marley CD my friend bought for me). I also got busted by the cops, they pulled me over as I was taking a hit from the joint. Although they didn't ask for my license, they searched my car and took our weed... but they did a crappy job searching because they didn't find the two pipes in the car, which is good.

edit- Oh and in case anyones wondering, they just took our weed and let us drive off...despite us all being completely baked out of our minds. They also didn't find the salvia in my pocket, although they found my friends and took it. They'd never heard of salvia, so they thought it was some like new form of meth or something. They kept asking us about meth.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 06-12-2005 10:52 PM

They just let you go? Wow, I wish cops around here were that cool. I still need to find that salvia stuff because shrooms get me really sick and a quick alternative would be nice. Besides shrooming is alot of work.

Here's the most badass drug website there is: (i.e. tons of info on every drug known to man)

http://www.erowid.org/

Badmoon 06-12-2005 10:56 PM

Most are aware of Erowid, and be careful with Salvia. I have not completely tripped on it (slightly), but I hear bad things from many who have.

thickasabrick 06-12-2005 11:04 PM

I should hope everyone who has even tried drugs once in their life has visited Erowid. That site is a godsend.

And salvia is a relatively safe drug. I've done it many times. My friend took a salvia trip earlier today when we were still out camping. Although he started walking (and at points running) through the forest behind our campsite and we had to follow him so he wouldn't get hurt/lost. I think we all got more scratched up than he did.

As long as you do salvia in a safe and QUIET environment, you'll be fine. Sometimes though all it takes is a barking dog, or a cellphone ringing to really annoy the hell out of you while you're tripping. I've never had a bad salvia trip, but sometimes I get extremely annoyed at people/objects in the area if they are moving around or making noise while I'm tripping..I'm not sure why it's just an effect of the drug.

Leper 06-12-2005 11:04 PM

how goes it everybody, i haven't been able to get on mx in about 2 weeks, but it finally worked today. BTW, has anyone besides me ever caught mono and strept throat at the same time?

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 06-12-2005 11:04 PM

Really? I just very recently discovered it.

Yea, they say many people report it to be not so enjoyable but meh I'll risk it. Still can't find that acid.

A lot of people just don't like the effect salvia has on them. If you do drugs just to feel good and have fun, salvia is most definitely not for you. People who normally drink, or do stuff like ecstacy or cocaine usually really hate salvia just because it isn't meant to make you feel good/experience euphoria. It's basically takes any emotions you have to an extreme, so if you are a generally angry guy then salvia won't turn out well. It's basically meant only for religious/mind expanding reasons.

And how did you just discover Erowid?? They just redid that site though, and it's not nearly as good as it was before, in my opinion.

That hype your refering to is probably just all those over produced Zeppilin and ACDC shirts that are everywhere.

Happy Belated birthday

You must live in Canada, because inobody can get away with possesion here, its really strict

jpj 06-13-2005 09:43 AM

What's ridiculous is that someone in the U.S. could get the same time for weed as someone for Heroin. Personally, I think there's a little bit of a difference between weed and a highly addictive opiate.

In some situations, the penalties for having/selling/growing weed are much more serious than the penalties you would face if you raped someone. That makes me so angry I can't even express

That's a good song. He's playing three shows here in Vancouver in July, all sold out, of course :upset:

robo2448 06-13-2005 03:12 PM

He's not coming to NY, but there are still tickets avaliable to see him in CT which is about 20 min. away from me, I think I'll buy tickets Wednesday.

Badmoon 06-13-2005 03:21 PM
