So, who likes ELO?

Jeff Lynne is a genius.

BludgeonySteve 06-12-2005 11:51 AM

snorfledumpkins 06-12-2005 11:53 AM
Well, I saw Deep Purple tonight, and I must say the old farts still have it. Ian Gillian hasn't lost any vocal skills, and Steve Morse is a **** good guitarist. If you have a chance to see them, do so, even if you're not a big fan.

Did I mention tickets were $5 and they had BBQ? 'Twas a good day.
what songs did they play, i'd love to see them live, but i haven't heard all of their stuff, just machine head and their best of album.

and yes three dog night is considered classic rock.

Illmatic 06-12-2005 12:18 PM

So I finally got Funk #49. Commend me.

I also got Extrapolation by John McLaughlin.

Snypa.

lunch998 06-12-2005 01:18 PM

I finally got my own copy of Quadrophenia, along with a two disc NRPS live album.
yah deep purple have not been in canada for a very very long time :upset:
Um, if last year was a long time ago then yes. I saw them in Toronto last August and they are coming to London and Toronto this year also.

BassMasterMike88 06-12-2005 03:24 PM

Why do all the reunion bands that I want to see have to be in the UK? Cream, and now Pink Floyd. Why can't they just come to Iowa for once :upset:

ATM 06-12-2005 03:27 PM

I would kill to go to that show.

They played Highway Star, Lazy, Hush, Smoke on the Water, two songs from the 2003 album (both of which were awesome), and some songs I didn't recognize. Airey had a really cool keyboard solo, he played the Simpsons theme and had some effect so it sounded exactly like it does on the show. He also did part of the Star Wars theme plus other cool stuff.

Have you been living under a rock today? They're playing a 10-12 minute set for the charity concert thing in London.

Well, I was at the airport when that thread was posted and haven't watched any TV today, so that's why I was unaware.

The quality is lacking, but obviously the music is good.

White_heat 06-12-2005 06:42 PM

I just bought
the essential jefferson airplane
MC5- kick out the jams

what are your opinions on these bands?

lunch998 06-12-2005 06:42 PM

I really like Jefferson Airplane, I'd want more than just the essential.

Glitterati 06-12-2005 07:13 PM
I really like Jefferson Airplane, I'd want more than just the essential.
I can YSI Surrealistic Pillow.
What are your opinion on these bands?
I love the MC5.

Woodstock 06-12-2005 07:44 PM

The Stooges>MC5

lunch998 06-12-2005 07:48 PM

I already own Surrealisitc Pillow and Volunteers, and have heard some of After Bathing at Baxter's. I was just saying that in my opinion you should own their albums rather than a greatest hits, but that's just me.

Woodstock 06-12-2005 07:51 PM

I've heard Volunteers was quite good.

lunch998 06-12-2005 07:51 PM

Yea I really like it a lot.

Badmoon 06-12-2005 08:01 PM
The Stooges>MC5
That's silly.

Glitterati 06-12-2005 08:03 PM
That's silly.
They're equal, I'd say.
