Gustave Flaubert once said of Balzac: "What a man he would have been had he known how to write!". Balzac is generally regarded as having weak prose, which I disagree to, but is still regarded as a fantastic novelist.

Ya he was a terrible at superficial writing but was a fantastic (pains me to say this) story teller. He was able to capture millions of people's imagination's, even if they are of a weaker stable then authors You and I read.
