I don't live in America. There are a fairly small number of CDs I'd spend my equivalent on all the same, though.
I guess so. Most people around here like some of the same stuff as me but overall nobody seriously loves the bands I do. I think I'm completely alone on Shadows Fall, and all I get is empty fanboy responses about Children of Bodom. Cradle of Filth is never met with anything but flaming. It's very depressing sometimes.
Lord Abortion is a big fan of Cradle.

Anyway, while I may not include any of the particular songs on the list (except maybe the NIN one, or at least, something by them), I do like some of them. And haven't heard a couple of them.

Stormrider 11-25-2005 07:02 PM
Who is that in your avatar? I recognize Hansi Kursch, but the other one looks unfamiliar.
Jon Schaeffer from Iced Earth.

Oh crap, I'm going to fall asleep on a Harry Potter movie with a friend whom I haven't seen in months who's incredi-geeked up for it.

Oh noes :upset:

EDIT: ... and is it really 150 minutes? :-\
Jon Schaeffer from Iced Earth.
Ah. Didn't recognize him at first.

Stormrider 11-25-2005 07:04 PM

^^I was actualy looking for a pic of Hansi because of those Depressing poll results he was in. And I came upon this one which I like a lot.
I do live in Canada you know. Where any good cd costs at least 25$. I estimated the American dollar equivalent, seeing as your dollar is pretty low right now.
And everynow and then theres a good cd at a special for 20$. And if were lucky 15$. I paid most of my cd's 25$ with the tax.

I was very dissapointed with the movie. I was expecting good things. The last 3 imporved each time, but this was not great. You may like it. I dont know what type of movies you like.

It was pretty long.

The books are pretty bad as well. They started out promising but quickly degenerated into the piece of poo that is the Half-Blood Prince.

I don't suppose you know the $CDN/USD or $CDN/GBP exchange rate at the moment? Or anyone, for that matter.

I stopped at the 4th book several years ago. I'm guessing you wouldn't recommend he others after it.

Try that, maybe?

Yeah, HBP sucked hard, but the last ten pages or so pretty much set up for the final chapter, which is fine with me. Order of the Phoenix wasn't too bad, from what I remember.

Toaster 11-25-2005 07:10 PM

We're at about .85 of an American dollar.

No worries - I've tinkered around with it before. Hope it was helpful to some degree.

Shattered_Future 11-25-2005 07:27 PM

I'm getting substansially less this year...don't want that much.

Ordering a bunch of band merch, and getting some money to put towards either a keyboard or a cheap 7 string guitar to screw around with.

It was. I learned that $25 CAD is rather a lot to pay for a CD.

Were use to it around here. When I go in the US, I pay about 18$ to 22$ about. Of course in US dollars.

How much do you pay your cd's ?

Well it depends, whether you're asking how much a CD usually is, or how much I generally pay. The regular price seems to be around £13-£15 (about $26-$30 CAD), but I try not to pay any more than £10 at the most, and far more often a lot less.

EDIT: "Regular" price being the price of a relatively newly released, non-sale album, I mean. In some stores anything slightly unknown seems to have its price jumped up to around £17-18, which is ridiculous.

I wish I had a store or two like that near me.

zabbit82 11-25-2005 07:47 PM

I usually get mine for like $10-12 at places like Best Buy and Media Play. I never go to the mall to get mine, its like $17 for a CD. IMO that's quite a bit for a CD...

GenuineImitation 11-25-2005 07:50 PM

I normally got to a place called Mr. Cheepos discount cd store. I get used cds for about $7-9, and new for about $10-15. THe only problem is that they don't have a large selection.

blueyxd 11-25-2005 07:56 PM

In Australia, $25-30 is common for an album. I don't usually buy much since there's mostly mainstream music shops here. Most things I really want can only be found in the second hand shops or ebay.

There is a metal/punk/alternative music shop not far away, which is cool, but then I go there and don't know many of the bands they have... they usually cost a little bit more too, having to import from o/s and all that.

Shred Danson 11-25-2005 07:58 PM
I wish I had a store or two like that near me.
Yeah, I love that store. Another thing I love about them is they promote my band and other bands around the area. It's all good :)

I will never get used cd's. Rather pay more to get the unopened one.

The quality is perfect though. If something is wrong, you have 90 days to return it. To keep you as a customer, they give you the same cd, but a new copy of it.

Toaster 11-25-2005 08:02 PM

Yeah, 25$ isn't that much to pay for a cd here. That's before our crappy 15% tax, too. :(

Stormrider 11-25-2005 08:04 PM

Well in that case, return every used cd you buy and return it for a new one :p ...jokes.

I dunno, I like knowing that I was the first one to open and listen to the cd I bought.

Yeah I forgot about the extremly high tax. I usualy pay that price with tax though.

Thats what I thought, until I saw the difference in price and the return policy.

zabbit82 11-25-2005 08:06 PM

15% tax!? Yikes!

I would buy used CD's, but I can't find what I'm looking for most of the time.

Daven 11-25-2005 08:09 PM

Where I live we have 12% tax so cd's cost around 12-15 dollars. I dont buy too much though, there's nothing good. The only good store that sells good cd's cost around 22 dollars which is very expensive comparing to most of the cd's that they sell.

Stormrider 11-25-2005 08:10 PM
Thats what I thought, until I saw the difference in price and the return policy.
Well anyways, if you do it too often. obviously, Ide think they would figure out what your doing, and they wouldnt let you return it anymore.

Its hard to go in a cd store and walk out with nothing. So when I go in one, want something, and what I want is not there, I end up taking something else anyways.

I do that all the time. I usually walk out with 2 or 3 cds if it is an unplanned visit.

I cant do that, as im pretty broke right now. I took all of my money realy on cd's over the past few months. And I dont consider it wasted money. Havnt bought one in 3 weeks now though. I was gunna buy 2 the last time but my dad talked me out of it, as I would have been completely broke.

I give private guitar lessons, so I rake in about $80 a week. None of it is reported to the IRS (keep quiet please), so I spend what ever is left, after gas, on cds.

Yeah, that's always tempting. I only walk in CD stores with cash on a planned visit. That way at least I can save some...

The only times I get money is christmas and my birthday...And every now and then when my parents buy me a cd.

I hate it when you only have that much amount of money and you have to choose between which cd you want. It takes me ages, and when I finally choose, I dont go back incase I change my mind.

Wewt, just got back from snowboarding. I basically spent to day in the new and improved rail park. \:D/ I learned a couple new tricks, and I had some wicked falls. Now my left wrist is swollen as a balloon, and I have a cut on the inside of my mouth.

It was so worth it.

NP: Porcupine Tree- Wet Ribbon

zabbit82 11-25-2005 08:45 PM

Oh man, I haven't gone snowboarding in forever (seroiusly, years). I'm no good at it, and I can't do tricks worth a damn, but I like doing it just for the hell of it.
