Oh ya it was Rob Thomas who performed with Robert Randolph. They played Voodoo Chile on some music dealy. It was awesome.

I've been trying to think of who it was for the longest time now.

plaidfloyd 06-10-2005 07:51 PM

Id love to see bob dylan, or anyone really. I am glad classic rock is making a comeback, bands like Jet and The Darkness are trying to bring it back. Also bands like Ac Dc are still goin so its all kool.

magicbus 06-10-2005 08:11 PM

Me and my dad are going to see Buddy Guy

I also saw that Robert Randolph/Rob Thomas show, it was on the Save the Music thing on VH1.

BludgeonySteve 06-10-2005 08:17 PM

Nice. RR is the man ;).

*i'm going to see bob dylan. i don't have tickets, but I will get tickets by any means possible

/falsetto voice: I NEED MO' LOVE

I read that tickets for Dylan/Nelson are mad cheap. Same with Petty/Black Crowes.

$49.25 for the show near me. I'll tell you whats not cheap, Stones tickets.

BludgeonySteve 06-10-2005 09:39 PM

I'm also going to try to go to petty/black crowes :D

Petty kind of reminds me of Bob Dylan. He's more rocky though.

Badmoon 06-10-2005 09:53 PM

He writes simpler (well lyrics), but more catchy songs, too. (IMO)

RockAndRoll 06-10-2005 10:03 PM

Ya, I like Dylan more I think though.

BludgeonySteve 06-10-2005 10:28 PM

I like Dylan more, but petty is up there.

lunch998 06-10-2005 10:34 PM

I will admit that some of the Grateful Dead's singing seems lacking to me, or not always great. On Live/Dead it wasn't anything special, even for them(the vocals).

I think I'd see Petty/Black Crowes over Dylan/Nelson, i saw Dylan about a year ago and it was more like a poetry reading then an actual concert.

Yeah, a more hard-rocking Dylan. Similiar style lyrics.

rock not roll has a definition on urbandictionary.com  ! I found that out the other day,

Badmoon 06-10-2005 11:32 PM

So do I, I think RNR made it.

The Stones can be such whores.

Last night my school did a gong show (talent show with a gong to be hit if you suck) and my friends and I did a tap dance routine, which was great until the jackasses in the soundbooth turned off the music. (We still did it without the music and got 10s across the board) There weren't too many good musical acts, just one band that I may have liked more (if the members of it weren't all conceited )There was one really good solo act, some kid played a song he wrote and started scatting and drumming on his guitar (audience like :amazed: ) He got all 10s too. I wouldn't be surprised if he made it big on the jam band scene in a few years

Have any of you guys done Battle of the Bands or Talent shows at your respective schools?

We did a sort of Battle of the Bands thing at my school on which me and the band I was before dressed up as the Beatles and performed Help!. We got 3rd.

He is proably my favorite blues musician.

Me too. And he's also one of my biggest (if not the biggest) guitar influences. Buddy Guy is the man.

Have you heard his album with Junior Wells. Next time you are driving home from somewhere late at night, put that on. It is incredible.

My dad sells cars (Manager of one of the top dealerships in Illinois (minus Chicago ones :() ;)) to Buddy Guy, and he use to sell cars to Junior Wells (but he died). He was/is good friends with each.

I just had a Battle of the Bands last wednesday. It was kind of crazy because our drummer quit the day before, so we asked a friend of ours to drum and we taught him the songs the day of the show. It went well, everyone said we were the best by far. The rest were emo bands except two metal bands (one was really really good) and my brothers band which kind of just plays strange music to bug the emos. He plays the bongo drums. His band won, which was good because I was hoping it would either be us or them. We played Sunshine of Your Love and a song I wrote.

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 06-11-2005 01:44 PM

We had a talent show at our school to raise money for the family of a kid in my class who died in a car accident a couple months ago. I played Time Of Your Life-Green Day acoustic and two friends of mine sang. One of them is the cousin of the boy that died so she picked the song as a tribute-type thing. We had a powerpoint slideshow thing to go along with it. I got a lot of compliments, but my friends didn't sound too good singing. It was fun though and we raised $1000. We were probably the second best act. The best was a junior guy did Billie Jean, complete with dance moves and moonwalk(my moonwalk is better though).

RockAndRoll 06-11-2005 01:50 PM

My band entered a battle of the bands, unfortunately no other bands did. We played anyways, but I was really hoping to win the 1000 dollar grand prize, instead we got a lousy 50$ gift certificate to the bar.

robo2448 06-11-2005 02:58 PM

/I am definitely seeing Dylan. I haven't bought tickets yet because I'm not sure where, but I've checked all the venues near me and they all have plenty of tickets. I live right outside of NYC where he is not coming, so I'll see him in CT or NJ, I'll have to ask my dad which is closer.
