I'm finally getting sick of Terrapin Station, I would kill for live/dead

let me know if you want anything for it
Anyone care to upload some early studio Bob Dylan other than Highway 61 Revisited or Bringing It All Back Home?
I'm ripping The Times They Are A-Changin' right now, although my CD Ripper has never actually worked for me, it always screws up half way through. I have a good feeling about today though, my speakers started working (and msn didnt' work, but now its working again) so maybe my computer finally fixed whatever was wrong with itself.

JonG 10-01-2005 01:36 PM

I'm uploading lots of early Dylan, I'm goin' s/t to Desire, but I don't Self Portrait, Dylan or the GH.

Walrus Gumboot 10-01-2005 01:45 PM

Live/Dead and Dylan's s/t would make my day

I've only heard "One more Cup of Coffee" from Desire, is the rest like that song?

thickasabrick 10-01-2005 02:01 PM
I'm uploading lots of early Dylan, I'm goin' s/t to Desire, but I don't Self Portrait, Dylan or the GH.
Are you gonna do The Times They Are A-Changin'? I ripped it onto my computer and stuck it in a Zip file, but there's something not right with (I won't explain what)...I could probably figure out how to fix it, but if you are already uploading it maybe I won't bother. I just feel bad because I never upload anything for anyone.

I think lyrically, The Times They Are A-Changin' is Dylans best album, although it's probably his least "commercial" album in terms of the actual music. It's not a very upbeat album I'll say that much, but I like listening to it. It's his definitely peak of "topical" songwriting.

You haven't heard Hurricane?

I will upload The Times if you want thick.
It's Alright Ma (Im Only Bleeding) > Desolation Row

After about a half of a year I have yet to get into Big Pink by the Band. It's just boring, their vocals aren't very good and the organ's annoying as hell. I just can't get into it and I've tried several times now. Although "The Weight" is one of the greatest songs ever; that's not a good enough reason to buy the actual album. Very disappointing....
I love Music From Big Pink and I really love their vocals.

The Band s/t is better than Music From Big Pink though.

Jam2Me 10-01-2005 02:40 PM

I love Desire, "Black Diamond Bay" is in my top 5 of Dylan songs, along with "Hurricane". "Mozambique" is a nice little ditty too.

classicrockman 10-01-2005 05:04 PM

Can people here start talking about Jimi Hendrix?

Favorite songs maybe? Jimi rules.

Krabsworth 10-01-2005 05:09 PM

So, who was the 6th Beatle anyway?

Glitterati 10-01-2005 05:19 PM
Can people here start talking about Jimi Hendrix?

Jimi was pretty great, but his music is something I have to kinda be in the mood for, if that makes any sense.

My favorite Hendrix song would have to be "The Wind Cries Mary."

classicrockman 10-01-2005 05:20 PM

I really like "Voodoo Child" and "Easy Rider."

MBS 10-01-2005 05:23 PM
So, who was the 6th Beatle anyway?
Yoko Ono.

That, or George Martin.

Hendrix - Little Wing is my favorite song.

DeusExMachina 10-01-2005 05:23 PM
So, who was the 6th Beatle anyway?
Beyond the fab four, there was Pete Best on drums, and Stu Sutcliffe on bass.

My favorite Hendrix song is probably Little Wing.

"Little Wing" is great. Although I like the Stevie Ray Vaughn instrumental version better. 'Are You Experienced?' is such a classic, classic album. Wait...is "Little Wing" on that album?

Glitterati 10-01-2005 05:34 PM
Wait...is "Little Wing" on that album?
Nope...I'm not sure which album it's on, but it's not AYE.

DeusExMachina 10-01-2005 05:36 PM

Little Wing is on Axis: Bold as Love.

RockAndRoll 10-01-2005 05:52 PM

I don't like the Stevie Ray Vaughn version as much.

robo2448 10-01-2005 06:28 PM

I really like Clapton's cover of it on the Rainbow Concert. It's probably one of my top 3 Hendrix songs, with Along the Watchtower and Machine Gun.

MBS 10-01-2005 06:34 PM

Yeah, the version on the Rainbow Concert is excellent.

PinkFreud 10-01-2005 07:17 PM

i like bold as love, the song. its sgreat.

Broken Arrow 10-01-2005 07:19 PM

i have that. its pretty cool. not wolf's best singing but the backing band is top notch. and wolf is great anyway.

Broken Arrow 10-01-2005 07:26 PM

Yeah, I havent listened to it all the way through but it sounds pretty good. This was only 6 years before his death. I like that part on "The Red Rooster" where they convince him to play guitar.

haha, did you read the liner notes. he totally didnt want to do it.

Broken Arrow 10-01-2005 07:37 PM

Haha Yeah.

I just also found out that on "I Aint Superstitious" Ringo Starr pays drums.

PinkFreud 10-01-2005 07:39 PM

ooooh.

claptons got his signature all over that album. and he like, goes back to the sound he had with john mayall.

robo2448 10-01-2005 07:41 PM
ooooh.

So umm... any chance of an upload from either of you? I'm liking the sound of this.

Broken Arrow 10-01-2005 07:43 PM

Yeah his playing really reminds me of that album.

Also reading the booklet, I noticed that like have the songs are by Willie Dixon. Thats practically all Willie Dixon did was write songs for other artists most notably Buddy Guy and Howlin Wolf. I only have one song by Dixon on my computer and that would be the original Spoonful.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 10-01-2005 08:26 PM

Howlin' Wolf....possibly the greatest singer ever and not just in the Blues either. Man could he sing! He pumped his songs to the brim with pure emotion. I mean when that 300 pound man picked up the mic and started wailin', you KNEW you were going to hear some real blues. Un-like so much of what this thread talks about and considers real Blues you know all the white British guys. (Clapton, Stones, Beck...etc) If you only want one album of his, I'd recommend the two-for-one Howlin' Wolf/Moanin' in the Moonlight. For all the music you get, it's really a steal. If you want a song to download, try "Smokestack Lightnin".

Edit: After reading that it really made it seem like I was trashing the British Blues Rock just so you know I didn't mean it. ;)

I never heard of him before I saw him on No Direction Home . I was impressed

Krabsworth 10-01-2005 08:35 PM

So when is this small legion of classic rockers going to over run R&M?

Woodstock 10-01-2005 08:39 PM

When the R&M develops good taste of course. :)

^ We used to run this place.....now we're just blowin' in the wind. :upset:

I hope soon. There's WAY to many Metal Heads in here. It's like they've trippled in population since I first became a member. I just wish we had a Rock forum. :(

I'm seeing Santana AND Robert Randolph tomorrow.

I don't know who in this thread ever called Clapton or the Stones "real blues". I like to think most can distinguish traditional blues from blues rock.

Really! I mean WTF!!! We have like a 10 to 1 Metal Head to Rock fan ratio in R&M it's outragious! A Rock forum would have more traffic than Alt & Indie at least and It would'nt be a huge loss to this forun anymore. I feel like I'm the only one trying to fight for this. :(
I'm really tired of hearing you and everyone else bitch about the metalheads. What the hell are they doing to hurt you?
I've got nothing aginst Metal Heads (I highly respect some of them) it's just the Rock talk in R&M has seemingly disappeared because there are sooo many Metal Heads on this forum. A Rock forum would be nice.
