I was reading an interview with Billy Zoom, and he said most of the records were fucked up due to bad engineering/production. Apprently its one of his biggest regrests in life.
billy zoom says a lot of stuff. their is nothnig wrong with the way early X records sound. at all. Zoom now has a little studio and he produced/mixed the Live In Los Angeles LP of last year. so he thinks he knows something. fine. i've met the dude. he's cool. but he yaps too much. and he sounds great on all the records. so wtf?

anyway Live In Los Angeles is a great sounding album. so i give him credit. and of course since it is Zoom he put himself out front in the mix. which is actually a real good thing...
i haven't heard any bad black metal production yet

people kind of exaggerate it methinks
Um, what?

Emperor is the first that comes to mind, listen to them.

Matt: Just finished hw, making dinner soon then studying then bed, you?

John: Los Angeles had pretty poor production. Not for the times, but in general.

I've heard Emperor. It's not that bad.

Pazz 09-20-2006 09:39 PM

Got in from work, went by fast and I actually enjoyed it, payday tomorrow, my whole $40 from a week and half ago should be in my bank. I'm actually going to go now. Thought I would post a couple of times to make sure you all know I'm still alive.:p

JohnXDoesn't 09-20-2006 09:43 PM
Are they on Rhapsody?
hell yeah! not a lot from them. skip "ain't love grand" entirely (read my review on sputnik to try to understand that piece of crap) and don't bother with "see how we are". but they have Live In Los Angeles!

gogogogo! :D

EDIT: also the fan oriented Beyond And Back Anthology....its hit and miss. but a lot of hit...

Ugh, I disagree. I still enjoy them, but crystal clear production would sound so much more amazing.

Adios Matteo.

He does sound good on those records. By this interview - http://www.markprindle.com/zoom-i.htm - he seems really anal about it. Seems like a cool guy though.

If I ever get a band together, I really really really really want to cover the entire Dark Side Of The Moon album.

I already have it planned out. Lighting and the such. It will be the most incredible concert ever witnessed by humankind.

Except when Pink Floyd did it, right? :p

But eh, You have many top acts to beat...the Aussie Pink Floyd uses a lot of Pink Floyd's actual old equipment...

CommieCanada 09-21-2006 12:29 AM

no matter what band im in i want to cover Free Bird so that when people yell it ironically at shows, we can just bust it out

Theres a canadian pink floyd tribute band I kinda want to see. Of course, I wish pink floyd would put out a CD and tour. But oh well.

Redneck - "PLAY FREEBIRD!!" *hoists beer can*

*Andy's band commences Freebird playing*

Crowd -

My old band used to play Simple Man, another Skynyrd song. We started learning Freebird but got bored and moved onto other things.

Haha, soooo not going to happen. But they played at Live 8! My dad bought the DVD solely for that lol.

TheBigMachine 09-21-2006 02:17 AM

Pink Floyd are so rad, I love that band. The Wall is possibly the greatest concept album I've ever heard. It IS the greatest concept album Ive ever heard.

Permanent Solution 09-21-2006 02:18 AM

It's pretty awesome, I like Tommy, Quadrophenia, Animals, and many more a whole ton though. Concept albums just rock.

But I'm off to bed, see ya.

TheBigMachine 09-21-2006 02:29 AM

Concept albums are so good, I agree.
Later man.

Untitled 09-21-2006 03:58 AM
