Mike Patton singing anything bar Jeff Buckley = Automatically better. I like both those covers.
seriously, those two and cornell better be extremely high in the vocalist comp. or i might just rage against someone. |
Mike Patton is pretty awesome, but I haven't heard that cover. The only cover of War Pigs cover I've heard was by Gov't Mule with Jason Newsted, which was pretty similar to the original but with Warren Haynes singing.
So I'm leaving to vist my grandma who isn't doing well but on a totally different note my Step-Mom just gave birth to my first and only sibling. Sorta bitter sweet in a way. I plan on turning my brother into a music freak :). My Dad and Step-Mom would put head phones around her stomach during pregnacy and played the Beatles, Dave Matthews and the Stones constantly.
For English I gotta find a song that is about isolation any ideas? I know alot of Modern Rock songs but I would rather find a CR song about isolation.
John Lennon- Isolation ;) I can upload it if you don't have it. |
I'm downloading the "No Direction Home" soundtrack right now.
Also, Love & Theft, The Basement Tapes :) If needed, I'll upload. |
I've never rated Cornell, but I agree completely on Michael and Jeffrey. And Butch Walker
That Butch Walker is one talented guy. |
I like to tell that to anyone who'll listen. What material of his do you have, out of interest?
I got Letters out of my local library. |
I wish my library was that cool. In fact, I've got a lot of great CDs there; it was there that I fell in love with the Manics.
Have you read this?
Cool, cool. Yeah, I got some great music out of my library. GnR, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bob Dylan, Miles Davis, etc. |

*Bump*
Whats your opinions on the new dylan dvd,mom said she would buy it for me if i wanted it,and i just wanna know if its good or not. |
It was on PBS. The first part was somewhat boring and showed what artists inspired Dylan into his music. Then the second part was more into the popular songs, when he went electric, with The Band. It only goes from '62-'66 though.
|
Do you sugest me to get it?
|
For English I gotta find a song that is about isolation any ideas? I know alot of Modern Rock songs but I would rather find a CR song about isolation.
Hey You/Is There Anybody Out There. The other suggestions may be stronger musically, but no song carries the isolation theme better than these two. |

I didnt think they showed that much with the band but I wasn't really paying attention. Wasnt the Bands first album with Dylan Blonde on Blonde? EDIT: Or was that Robbie Robertson's first? |
Do you sugest me to get it?
If you want to, go ahead. I don't really buy DVDs. |
I'm thinking of uploading another album for the metal guys, what do you think I should do?
I'm thinking of uploading another album for the metal guys, what do you think I should do?
How about Who's Next? |
I was actually leaning towards that but I was trying to stray away from my Who bias a little bit. Maybe I'll do two uploads.
|
I'm thinking of uploading another album for the metal guys, what do you think I should do?
I might do one more too. Let's hope they start discussing the album in the thread though, because if it doesn't, I might stop uploading them for a while. No reason to upload them if they won't appreciate it. |
Heh, I just downloaded Neil Youngs s/t, and realized I have never heard it before or anything.
:\ |
alot of people around my school just run around in acdc and zepplin shirts but havent actually heard one song.

I seen that Bob Dylan thing too. I thought it was pretty good.
I really thought it was intresting how they got the organ in "Like A Rolling Stone" |

I really thought it was intresting how they got the organ in "Like A Rolling Stone"
Yeah, that was pretty cool. He was a note behind, made it sound actually pretty good. |
I seen that Bob Dylan thing too. I thought it was pretty good.
I really thought it was intresting how they got the organ in "Like A Rolling Stone"
Yea, I can't imagine that song without the organ. I mean, Bob Dylan really owes Al Kooper. Dylan's singing and lyrics in that song are great, but the organ intro makes that song magical IMO. Actually, the organ is really important to that whole album. I can't imagine a couple other songs on that album without organ. The album wouldn't have been nearly as good without Kooper's organ playing IMO. |
Didn't they also say Like A Rolling Stone originally had like 50 verses or so?
That's insane. *EDIT* I want to get a keyboard just so I can play "Glad" |
Didn't they also say Like A Rolling Stone originally had like 50 verses or so?
That's insane. *EDIT* I want to get a keyboard just so I can play "Glad"
I think I heard that it had something like 50 verses too. In Chronicles, Dylan mentions that it wasn't unusual for his songs to have 20 verses or so before he started cutting them down. np- Glad  The saxaphone in Glad is so amazing. I bought John Barleycorn Must Die last Monday. It's awesome :D |
Yeah, Tangled Up In Blue has 7 verses. But he sings rather fast in that song.
|
I've never rated Cornell, but I agree completely on Michael and Jeffrey. And Butch Walker
ah, you should pay attention to cornell's voice in soundgarden, temple of the dog, and his solo work. his range and powere are unbelievable. and his solo album shows how versatile he can be. whos butch walker? |
Yeah, Tangled Up In Blue has 7 verses. But he sings rather fast in that song.
I wonder how many verses It's Alright Ma (I'm only Bleeding) started off with. I'm pretty sure the released version has 15 verses. One hell of a song. Does anyone know how to actually play it the right way on guitar? I can't figure it out, it's basically the same thing over and over again (heh heh...what more can you expect from Dylan) with a couple chord changes during certain lines. I can never get it sounding right though, and I've looked at so many different tabs and obviously everyone can't get it perfect either. I want nothing more in my life right now than to be able to play that song and sing it. |
desolation row has 12. i think that song is his finest lyrical work, though its alright ma (im only bleeding), is awesome too.
|
I'm pretty sure It's Alright Ma (I'm only Bleeding) is capo-ed up.

It's Alright Ma (Im Only Bleeding) > Desolation Row After about a half of a year I have yet to get into Big Pink by the Band. It's just boring, their vocals aren't very good and the organ's annoying as hell. I just can't get into it and I've tried several times now. Although "The Weight" is one of the greatest songs ever; that's not a good enough reason to buy the actual album. Very disappointing.... |
