Another pretty good documentary on PBS.

/bump

I wish I lived in the '60s. There was so much turmoil and terrible stuff going on, but through all that shit a lot of good stuff came out. I wish we would protest the Iraq war at the Pentagon how they protested the Vietnam war. I don't know, I really love history, and the '60s are incredibly interesting to learn about.

magicbus 09-29-2005 07:34 PM

This Rainbow Concert is sad. It's like a shattered Clapton, just recovering from heroin addiction, not yet to his full potential. He seems a lot weaker or something.

But it's still very cool, thanks for the upload.

The '60s would have been cool, but I would have killed to live in the '80s. New wave all the way

It's the turning point in his career. I've been waiting about an hour and a half for somebody to post in this thread. I'm so bored.

Living in the 80's eww...

magicbus 09-29-2005 07:37 PM

I would have loved to live in the 60's. The music scene in London was amazing, just imagine all those people to play with.

The thing I admire most is how people got along. I mean, back then, all the musicians played together and stuff. If you were a musician back in the '60s, you could jam with anyone. Of course, the sixties were also known for division and fighting, so everyone didn't get along all that well. I just find the sixties really interesting.

thickasabrick 09-29-2005 07:39 PM

That sixties documentary isn't on for another few hours for me....I'm excited, I have to make sure I don't miss it.

I would have hated living in the eighties....

edit- In my English class, the teacher has a policy where if you're late three times you have to sing the song in front of a couple of classes. My friend's been late every day since the start of school, but the teacher never made him sing because he amuses her (apparently)...but today he finally had to sing. So our class piled into the classroom next door and settled down for a riveting performance of Blowin' In The Wind! It was actually a pretty interesting performance (unless most people's...last week a guy did Hit Me Baby One More Time), because he obviously forgot how it's sung. He had the rhythm and the tempo, but he made up his own melody lines.

It's not focused on music just to warn you. It's focused on civil rights and such. Really, really interesting though. Great stuff.

That's kind of how my English class is, except it's just 1 tardy. My friend was late purposely just so he could sing Everlong by the Foo Fighters in front of the whole class. He did it pretty well, actually.

If we had to sing every time we were late, we wouldn't do any work. Our English class is a complete joke, we have about 15 late students every day...although most of the students just come (late or not) and then leave about half way through, some of them come back right before class ends.

The sad thing is, the friend I was talking about....his fourth period class is right beside our English class (which is fifth period), yet he still manages to be late every day. He runs on what most people would call "Indian Time"...we don't let him drive anymore at night because he's at least two hours late for everything. I can call him at 7 and tell him to come right over, and he'll say "ok, I'm leaving right now," and he'll show up around 9:30 (saying he left as soon as he was off the phone).

But I must be leaving, less than two hours until that 60's documentary starts and I gotta take my dog for a walk.

Yeah, i think about that all the time, the scene was so alive. The underground scene featuring Tomorrow, The Soft Machine and Pink Floyd aswell as all the bands jamming on stage throughout the city, just getting up and letting rip with music and a raw flavour that in a lot of ways has never been surpassed since.

My ninth grade English teacher did that  After one guy had to do "I'm A Little Teapot", no-one was ever late again :amaze:

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 09-29-2005 10:39 PM

Wow....this day sucked. I went to school tired as hell, slept though Spanish, then in History class the first thing my teacher does is hand my a ASD slip for smashing all the broken (yes BROKEN) pottery the class will never use again a week before this and after that he comes up to me and gives me the paper I wrote yesterday that said "**** THIS CLASS!!" all over it and at the bottom it said "**** you Coach Montez!!!" needless to say he wrote me up for that. I don't know how he knew it was me and somewhere in between all that everytime I closed my eyes he'd snap at me and I was tired as hell. In Health I had to write a paper and all I wrote was jibberish and song lyrics as usual (which I've done 10 times now) and he looks down at my paper and says "What's a sliverspoon?" (hence the Dylan lyric) and he gave me a 0%. Half the day goes by and I ride the school elavator up to the 2nd floor I look down and see my friends and they're all saying come back down. So I go back down and this another friend goes down too and when the door opens the school security guard (the worst one at that) pulls us both out and tells us not to do that again. Hence it's aginst the rules but you know I've done it over a 100 times now and I happen to get caught today. Of course I couldn't keep my mouth shut and I back talk to him. So he sends me to the principal and all I get is a warning. (OMG!!!) When I got home today my friend calls me up and says bring the bud andd your pipe and we'll watch Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. So I go in my room in my safe and open and what do I see? MY PIPE AND BUD ARE NOT THERE!!! I race around the house panicing before I calmed down and gave up looking after an hour....now I can't go to my friend's house because I wasted too much time looking for my ****. Now I can't go to sleep and bound to be even more tired tomorrow. Although I'm thinking tomorrow will be better because I'm getting an oz for 45$ and I'm going get drunk with my friend's mom so that should be quite nice. It's going to awkward seeing his mom this time because she was on AIM instead of my friend and I said "later I'm going to go masterbait to naked pictures of your mom" and she saw it soooo yea. Why do I get the feeling that nothing's going right for me lately? :(

So many errors^

My speakers still don't work and it's killing me.

I've decided I'm going to learn the entire The Times They Are a-Changin' album on guitar, that way when people ask me to play something...I'll start playing and singing something like Ballad of Hollis Brown and I won't stop until it's over. That'll shut them up. I'm sick and tired of people saying "Play Stairway to Heaven!" then listening to about ten seconds before going "Let's hear Tears in Heaven!" which is cut off quickly by something along the lines of "Do you know Boulevard of Broken Dreams."

God damn that makes me angry!

Pink Freud...are you sure it isn't Dylan Thomas? That'd be awesome if we got to study Bob Dylan, I've used his lyrics for various analyses and assignments, but we've never studied him as a class.

I hate that. It has to be something really passionate and brooding so that they would be afraid to say "hey OMG play Stairway!". That would be great

PinkFreud- Quitting smoking would be a good idea. You might end up quitting later in your life, but you could do it now and save all of the money/lung tissues to waste on weed. :p The cost factor doesn't seem to be something that my friends considered when they picked it up
I'm sure you've heard all of this a million times before

EDIT: I can relate to you now, thick. I just realised someone replaced my beautiful speakers with a couple of tin can pieces of crap. I wonder where they went

I don't make the right choices sometimes. :-/

I had some horrible luck today aswell. I left my backpack in the gym today and these 2 Mexicans went though my stuff and took my CD case that had 25 of my CD's inside. They looked though them and went over to a former friend (who hates me now) and they said "Hey you want some Rock CD's?" He looked through them and saw American Beauty and realized they were mine. When I looked through my backpack they were gone asked they coach what he could do and he just yells out and see if anyone would give them up. I wait for awhile pissed, scared and panicing and the only person I'm afraid of in the school calls me over. He said he had my CD's and wants to burn them all. I still don't have them back and now apparently he wants to give them back. Wish me luck. :(

So I'm leaving to vist my grandma who isn't doing well but on a totally different note my Step-Mom just gave birth to my first and only sibling. Sorta bitter sweet in a way. I plan on turning my brother into a music freak :). My Dad and Step-Mom would put head phones around her stomach during pregnacy and played the Beatles, Dave Matthews and the Stones constantly.

For English I gotta find a song that is about isolation any ideas? I know alot of Modern Rock songs but I would rather find a CR song about isolation.

Good one

I had a really funny moment today. The Japanese foreign exchange student came up to me in the computer lab and said "You know much about Marijuana?!" I was like, "eeerrr, maybe?"

I guess the Health teacher assigned her the topic of keeping Marijuana illegal for the junior powerpoint thing, but the best part was that she didn't know what marijuana was.
I tried to help her find books about it and the health teacher ran up to her and was like "I've been lookning all over for you" and then made her sit at the cxomputer and listen to her saying "it's addicitve, it kills brain cells, it causes lung cancer, it makes you unable to reproduce, etc."

It was really funny

PinkFreud 09-30-2005 05:26 PM

crazy foreigners....

have any black sabbath fans heard faith no more's cover of war pigs? i think its pretty cool. its almost the same song though, they just speed it up a bit. and of course, it has mike patton singing.

on a similar note, faith no more also covered "easy like sunday morning" by lionel richie. its really good.
