Drop D is cool. Can still get a crisp distortion sound out of it. Also some compound chords (I think that is there name, where the Root note differs from the bass note) Are easier in Drop D.

That is like comparing The Devil and a kitten.

oliv_da_skinmasher 04-12-2006 02:16 AM

^ lol. Mr T the large gold laden kitten

Corkofski 04-12-2006 02:18 AM

my nipples are REALLY hard today...

do ya reckon i could hacksaw a cheap stock cymbal?

im trying to make an 8" splash out of it, and the lathing is a spiral, so at some point i have to cross the lathing. hacksaw or any other ideas?

for the rest, pliers rip it along the lathing easily...

oliv_da_skinmasher 04-12-2006 02:21 AM

I should say so. If its anything like my stock cymbals were (other than my solar which, give em credit, are durable lol) try ripping it with your hands.

Josiah 04-12-2006 02:41 AM

Mr. T was a bad mamajama...

...me and him is smokin some kind right now. got me some fresh bubonic chronic

Carn 04-12-2006 03:08 AM

T was a professional bouncer before he got into acting, I wouldnt want to pick a fight with him in that time.

no way phil!!

i have attic space if it needs to not exist for a few weeks

Drum Phil 04-12-2006 04:45 AM

Serious as a heartattack. I owe money and my method of getting it back just fell through.

Talos 04-12-2006 04:49 AM

That sucks man, how much do you owe?

moogoogaipan 04-12-2006 04:52 AM

!!badassness!!
so our spring jazz concert is coming up at the University of Tennessee.
so we're playing a three song set that includes:
El Matador
Moments Notice
Seven Steps to Heaven

you may not know these tunes, but they are usually level 3-4 tunes.
and Seven Steps to Heaven is almost a drum feature.

anyway, so on the last song we go through the standard intro/head/chorus structure for 3 solos.
Then the last time through, I'm gonna open up the solo with a drum solo... trading 8's through out 4 choruses... slowly building some tension... then I get 16 bars to totally let loose and close it all out, then a manual fade on the classic vamp.

It's gonna be so bad-***

Cocaberry 04-12-2006 05:08 AM

^^^ 123 to that.

But really, how much money do you owe phil? You selling most of your kit?

Post what you have for sale. I might want to buy some stuff.

Drum Phil 04-12-2006 05:21 AM

It doesnt matter now, me dads bailin me out this once and i can pay him back in a few years when ive got a steady job. Its about £350 or so :-/ But me mum was gonna get rid of the whole kit to teach me a hard learned lesson.

Snarz 04-12-2006 05:32 AM

Thats good your dads doing that.Becasue that would suck if your kit got sold.

Drum Phil 04-12-2006 05:41 AM

Big time. Especially since i worked my skin to the bone for that thing. Cost me about around £2k all together over the years.

Corkofski 04-12-2006 05:44 AM

thank god for that...

Drum Phil 04-12-2006 05:51 AM

Indeed. Im lookin into taking a course in business management so i can open my own drum store. What do you guys reckon to that?

Ive learnt a lot from you guys and i think its time i helped others but im naturally a terrible teacher. So with the stuff ive learnt from here i reckon i could open up a fairly succesful store and sell what i know to be good quality and at a good price. I would of course have to sell some of the lesser quality crap like z customs, but thats simply supply and demand. I'd be concentrating more on the underrated lines of cymbals and drums :)

oliv_da_skinmasher 04-12-2006 05:58 AM

Do it. I'd buy stuff from ya
