moar leik Mr. Cone. Man. @myavatar :)

To put this on topic, I'm going to see Aussie Floyd for the third time next week I can't wait, they are the single greatest tribute act ever :) :)

Riva 03-13-2007 06:24 PM

Beyond The Darkside is coming back to my town, I don't think I'll go though, even though they were awesome last year.

MattSharpIsCool 03-13-2007 09:09 PM

There aren't any Floyd tribute bands around my area, at least not that I know of. I've thought about maybe starting one, actually, but I dont think I'd ever actually go through with that.

Once (if) I get a band started, I do want to cover Darkside occasionally.

rippa32 03-13-2007 10:06 PM

Well I live in Australia so im bound to be able to see Aussie Floyd sometime, I dunno if I will though. Tribute band's arnt my thing.

Kaiwaz 03-14-2007 12:09 AM

I saw a Floyd Tribute band once, they were really good up until the last song when the played Comfortably Numb...it sounded like the crap on The Departed, It was a cool show, but they ruined that song totally. Maybe that's the reason why I didn't care for The Departed that much, because of the country version of Comfortably Numb. For the most part, though, the cover band was really accurate, I don't know why they would butcher such a beautiful song...

MattSharpIsCool 03-14-2007 12:30 AM

That was Van Morrison and The Band doing that song in The Departed.

I really hate that version, too.

Apocalyptic Raids 03-14-2007 01:28 AM

I've seen The Pink Floyd Experience. It was pretty damn good.

Dragon_Prince 03-15-2007 01:29 PM

Aussie Floyd are doing some festivals they are already confirmed for Rockwerchter and Arrow Rock Festival.

Leper 03-17-2007 10:57 PM

I wish some Floyd cover bands would come here but I'm seeing Roger in June so whatever.:)

rippa32 03-17-2007 11:11 PM

Technically that is a cover band :thumb:

Leper 03-17-2007 11:22 PM

Yeah I guess technically it is...well this is akward.

rippa32 03-17-2007 11:28 PM

Haha, but seriously you will love that show, I did not regret the $150 I payed for it. In fact if anything I regret not paying more for better seats.

Leper 03-17-2007 11:30 PM

Yeah I really didn't care how much we had to pay. I think my friend picked up $70 seats so I'm satisfied.

Danger Bird 03-18-2007 12:50 AM

I think the cover version suited the movie better than the original would have

/ducks and covers

Kaiwaz 03-18-2007 01:26 AM

one of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces

What cover version? and of what song?

Danger Bird 03-18-2007 03:43 AM

Comfortably Numb in The Departed

Yield 03-18-2007 10:54 AM

I personally liked the cover version.

Apocalyptic Raids 03-18-2007 09:05 PM

who did the cover?

Jacaranda 03-18-2007 09:48 PM
That was Van Morrison and The Band doing that song in The Departed.

or the scissor sisters which i don't think he is talking about that.

rippa32 03-18-2007 10:00 PM

The scissor sisters covered it!! I'd be outraged if your avatar wasn't so hypnotic.

MattSharpIsCool 03-19-2007 02:09 AM
I think the cover version suited the movie better than the original would have

/ducks and covers
Ya it probably fit better. The original version of the song would have been kind of a "wtf" moment.

Riva 03-19-2007 05:32 AM

The Scissor Sisters did an absolutely terrible cover of it.

Montana 03-19-2007 08:16 PM

I've never heard the scissor sisters before.

That Comfortably Numb cover in the Departed was ok, I guess. The Dropkick Murphy's song was perfect, though.

Riva 03-19-2007 08:38 PM

Be thankful that you haven't heard them.

How'd you go with obtaining a record player?

Apocalyptic Raids 03-19-2007 08:39 PM

I Don't Feel Like Dancin' is a good song :(

Riva 03-19-2007 08:42 PM
I Don't Feel Like Dancin' is a good song :(
You sold us out, mang.

Has anyone hear heard Kitaro?

He covers a bit of Meddle in his album An Enchanted Evening.

Nothing yet. I watched one of those nice duals on eBay for a few days. In four days it went from $10 to $200+. I like the pretty ones with the wooden base but they seem to be fairly expensive, on eBay anyhow. Still don't really know what to look for either, I'm not familiar with the technical terms and such.

Riva 03-19-2007 08:55 PM

Oh ok. You could always try going to a store like The Good Guys or something and just ask around to get a feel for prices of new ones.

MattSharpIsCool 03-19-2007 08:57 PM

I got a new Emerson Record/CD/Tape/Radio at Best Buy for 100 bucks.

Works like a charm.

magicbus 03-19-2007 10:00 PM

I know how you guys love drugs in this thread, but I have to say that Ummagumma while tripping is amazing. The same can be said for "Any Colour You Like", "On An Island", "The Thin Ice" and whatever else we listened to.

rippa32 03-19-2007 10:13 PM

Im sure Small Furry Animals while on pot would be hilarious.

Yield 03-20-2007 02:45 PM

My dumbass friends get high off of permanent markers...:upset: stupid friends

Montana 03-20-2007 03:37 PM

I love the smell of markers. Never been high off of them before, I hope.

Danger Bird 03-20-2007 05:12 PM

That's BS, you can't get high from markers. They're probably using those magic markers to give themselves headaches, right? That's so moronic.

Haha, I'm sure each one of those songs was "the best song ever"

magicbus 03-20-2007 06:51 PM

I'm telling you man, all the guitar sounded SO cool. Next time I'm just gonna make a mix with a bunch of searing guitar solos. I remember coming back from the bathroom and hearing the "On A Island" solo pouring out of my friend's room. It was pretty heavy.

Lunch 03-20-2007 06:52 PM

Trust me man, I'm with you. Every song is so long, in-depth, and life consuming that each new song is definitely the best song ever at the time.

magicbus 03-20-2007 06:55 PM

I loved every minute of it, and want to do it again.

rippa32 03-20-2007 06:57 PM

Is it worth the damage pot causes though?
