About to set off on a 10 hour round-trip drive with nothing but my trusty mp3 player and a selection of books to defend my mind.

I'm visiting Glamorgan Uni in South Wales, where I will most likely be doing a degree in Sound Engineering, or maybe a Masters if it goes well.

How can you be expected to drive if you are reading a book?

Wintermute 08-30-2004 04:47 AM

I'm not driving. I'm being driven.

PaulR 08-30-2004 04:52 AM

I know - it was a bad joke.
Where abouts are you from in England if its gonna be a 10 hour round trip?

Wintermute 08-30-2004 04:56 AM

Lancashire -> Pontypridd -> Lancashire

PaulR 08-30-2004 04:59 AM

Ahhh fair doos.
Well enjoy it.
I hope you've got a good mp3 playlist.
And some good books.

Wintermute 08-30-2004 05:01 AM

It's a 64meg player, and I never rip at less than 192kbs, so it only holds about 45 minutes of music. Irritatingly. It's all good music though.

PaulR 08-30-2004 05:04 AM

I have an mp3 player.
Its about 32meg. I got it like 4 years ago, the only problem is - it only works with the original flash card that came with it. I have two other cards that don't work. And the company who made the player have disowned it and disappeared.

Wintermute 08-30-2004 05:05 AM

Hah, mine's a 'mini-k' - an utter no-name company no-ones ever heard of. A better one is on the list of gizmos I need, but quite far down.

PaulR 08-30-2004 05:07 AM

An I-Pod!
I want one.
But I have a long list as well. And no money.
I actually lost £10 yesterday in a shop. :(

Wintermute 08-30-2004 05:11 AM

Things like new basses are topping the list, but they're costly.

PaulR 08-30-2004 05:11 AM

Absolutely.
I might have to wait till at least Christmas before I get a new one.

JoeDaddio 08-30-2004 05:13 AM

SHould I but a 77 P bass thats been modified with a J pup at the bridge (both are Bart pups) or should I buy myself a powerfull head for my 4x10?

joe

PaulR 08-30-2004 05:22 AM

What bass do you have at the moment?

JoeDaddio 08-30-2004 05:23 AM

I've got a late 90's G&L ASAT bass.

For effect. :D

PaulR 08-30-2004 05:26 AM

Hmmm.
I think the P bass maybe.

Actually that depends.

Is it in an auction?

JoeDaddio 08-30-2004 05:27 AM

Actually, come to think of it, I think it is actually an early 2000's. 01 maybe. Bah... I dunno. I really dont want to take the neck off.

Morning all!

Just thought I'd pop in and say hey. Just got a call from HR, they want me to interview for another Tech position here at the college- the one they allowed me to apply for even though the application deadline had passed. I'm excited, if I get this then I can quit working 2 jobs and get my weekends back!

Wish me luck, I go in on Wednesday at 2:30pm!

*goes back to slapping*

PaulR 08-30-2004 11:21 AM

What are you playing or learning?

Bass+Fingers+Amp=Groove 08-30-2004 11:24 AM

so why did you change your name?

Banned?

:p

JamminOnMy4String 08-30-2004 11:41 AM

I really don't know.. I didn't do anything that would have gotten me banned, but when I moved to college it just never seemed to work, so I was forced to make a new one.

PaulR.. I'm just playing my own stuff
