My theory teacher's awesome...he knows tons about bands I like. Tool, Symphony X, Queensryche...and so forth.

There's a few kids in my class who like DT, and I have a few friends who I went to Gigantour with who like them.

GenuineImitation 11-07-2005 02:52 PM
Oh:upset: . Why doesn't anyone like/have heard of DT at my school. I only know one person at my school who likes them....:upset: . The music teachers at my school don't like anything apart from classical.
The only people in my town that like Dream Theater are my guitar teacher and a few friends that I brainwashed. Most people listen to rap and pop.

Just try to brinwash some people into liking DT, so you have people to talk to about DT in school.

A lot of my friends know DT from me but most of them hate it. I do have 2 mates that I went to the two London gigs with though.

Having 1 or 2 friends that like Dream theater is better than having no friends that like them. Thats the way I look at it.

Yeah, it's great having them just to chat DT with them. We do get a lot of odd looks when we're talking about 20+min songs.

Liquid Fantasy 11-07-2005 03:16 PM

the only person i know that likes DT is my best friend and shes a girl, all of my schoolmates listen to punk :S

GenuineImitation 11-07-2005 03:25 PM

I usually try to break people in with Lie, As I Am or Pull Me Under. Those songs just seem easier to get into if someone never heard dream theater before.

Two of my best freinds really like DT, but most of my others don't. I'm currently trying to convert two more of my freinds, who are huge prog fans, so I doubt it should be to hard.

If they already like prog, it should be fairly easy. It may be slightly harder if they like prog rock, more than prog metal.

nowitzki 11-07-2005 04:25 PM

I have a few friends who like Dream Theater. It's strange with DT, most people have never heard them, but most who have become big fans.

and scenesfromatheater... didn't I introduce you to DT? ;)

Thats because they dont really get mainstream exposure as other rock/metal bands do. Once they do hear a few songs, they quickly realize he might of Dream theater.

Errrmmm....no you didn't  . My only DT buddy at school only likes SFAM and 8V i think, and he ain't a musician so I can't talk about the musician's side of the music:upset: .

Deth 11-07-2005 08:20 PM

One of my best friends is a huge Dream Theater fan, though he doesn't know as much about them as I.

I always get weird glances when I wear my SFAM shirt to school. That's just because they're stupid.

I want to get a Dream Theater shirt, just so that I can feel superior to the hundred plus kids who think they're "punk" because they where a Green Day shirt.

The only band shirts I usually see at my school are those over popular grateful dead t-shirts.

GenuineImitation 11-07-2005 09:44 PM

I want a ToT t-shirt. Do you know where I can get one?

IbanezSamurai 11-07-2005 10:56 PM

I want this shirt

That's a very nice shirt. I wish I had $25 to spare.

I bought the poster of that design. The official merchandise they were selling on that tour was all really cool, if only it wasn't so expensive :upset:

I do have a ToT shirt though, which is awesome.

Metal_head45 11-08-2005 05:35 AM

Most of my friends like DT or atleast a few songs by them. I think that makes me cool :D

Deth 11-08-2005 06:51 AM

If anyone wants a cheap SFAM shirt, goodrock.com sells them for $11 with $5 shipping. They're good quality and reliable and after the first item, the shipping is $1.

Go buy one :).

and me, i don't know why people are so fascinated with the SFAM shirt. someone at uni a few weeks ago when i wore it asked "what's a dream theater?"

that's the only DT shirt you can buy anywhere though, especially in the UK, which is why i bought another 2 from the wolverhampton gig.

Lord Abortion 11-08-2005 10:09 AM

It's only the SFAM shirt Backstreetmerch has too...:(

I bought the 8V album cover one. Well worth it. \m/

nowitzki 11-08-2005 11:29 AM

If I could afford it I would have bought every item of official merchandice. All the shirt designs were cool, so were the beanies.

Jev 11-08-2005 11:54 AM

I have no DT shirts. Shirts don't really bother me although I did want a work shirt.
But £50? come on.

I have one of the 20th anniversery shirts, an unofficial TOT shirt, and an 8V one that is way to big (XXL...:upset: ).

the2stranger 11-08-2005 01:56 PM

XXl is huge.
I have one shirt in XL but it's way too big to be an XL
the shirt comes down to my knees.

I can't stand those fake shirts, I never buy them.
the print gets of in no time

Lord Abortion 11-08-2005 02:17 PM

I have a couple of fake tour shirts, I cant resist the blokes constantly shouting in my ear in the queues outside...

Band shirts are all I wear though.

Firecracker 11-08-2005 02:39 PM

I went ott at the gig and bought a 30 quid tee, and a 26 quid longsleeved Medium one.
The longsleeved one is so unbelievably beautiful.
But the other one is too big, it's a Large or something.
I'm too small for all that big sizes.

Deconstruction 11-08-2005 02:41 PM

Ya i forked over 30 bucks for an octavarium tee.
