stfu pate.

Man, I gotta get tickets to that tour...

Poofy 666 05-13-2007 01:14 PM

Novembers Doom bored me with To Welcome the Fade, so I havent checked out their new one.

Guess I'll be seeing Swallow the Sun live twice :D

Daven 05-13-2007 01:21 PM

Yeah, ND bored me too.

Nepenthe 05-13-2007 01:24 PM

If all of their songs sounded like Broken off of To Welcome The Fade, they would be good. Unfortunately, neither of these things is very true.

pate 05-13-2007 07:49 PM

Their newest album, The Novella Reservoir is very kickass. I like TNR and The Pale Haunt Departure more than TWTF.

metal-militia 05-15-2007 06:37 PM

Olny 2 weeks until I get to see Trouble :chug:

I played Cathedral's- Forest of Equilibrium for the first time in a while the other day, and I'd forgotten how amazing it is. It's a shame the rest of Cathedral's stuff is not as good.

pate 05-15-2007 07:01 PM

No way. The Ethereal Mirror and The Carnival Bizarre are better than FOE.

Shattered_Future 05-15-2007 07:07 PM

I like The Novella Reservoir because they managed to craft something brilliant out of some of the simplest riffs ever.

Etheral Mirror is ace.

pate 05-15-2007 08:00 PM

TNR is my album of the year thus far.

Txus 05-15-2007 08:08 PM

The Garden Of Unearthly Delights is another good Cathedral album.

ATM 05-15-2007 10:46 PM

I love all of the ones I have heard.

pate 05-16-2007 12:27 AM

I agree with the last 3 posts.

Iron Bars 05-16-2007 01:23 AM

Supernatural Birth Machine is my favorite Cathedral album atm.

NP: Esoteric - Grey day

Bartender 05-16-2007 06:46 AM

To be honest I'm happy just listening to Hopkins over and over.

ATM 05-16-2007 07:02 AM

What's that?

Bartender 05-16-2007 07:11 AM

Cathedral song, "Hopkins (The Witchfinder General)". It's just a whole lot of fun.

rippa32 05-16-2007 07:51 AM

I only have Garden Of Uneartley Delights but I think it's a great album. North Berwick Witch Trials and Oro The Manslayer are awesome songs.

Phototropic 05-16-2007 08:07 AM

Going to see Isis on monday! can't wait, really really REALLY can't wait

love Isis so much, hope they play lots of Oceanic + Panopticon and not all Absence

anyone else seeing them ?

AlienEater 05-16-2007 08:24 AM
Cathedral song, "Hopkins (The Witchfinder General)". It's just a whole lot of fun.
yes

it's also good because in the video it has clips from the vincent price movie of the same name

Bartender 05-16-2007 08:27 AM

Yeah, the film/Vincent Price are always great, and Lee Dorrian dances around like a tit.

AlienEater 05-16-2007 08:30 AM

Haha yeah, he really does

and yeah, I love most Vincent Price movies. Most because I haven't seen them all. In fact I probably haven't seen many considering the amount of films he has been in

metal-militia 05-16-2007 08:31 AM
No way. The Ethereal Mirror and The Carnival Bizarre are better than FOE.
You've got to be joking! The Carnival Bizarre is still a very good album though, just not up to the same standard as Forest of Equilibrium.

pate 05-16-2007 07:46 PM
To be honest I'm happy just listening to Hopkins over and over.
I love that song. My band covered it in hilarious fashion on our last album.

I love Lee Dorrian, and sharing first names is cool too! :p

rippa32 05-19-2007 08:11 AM

I think there's something quite unique about his voice. If I heard it in a song I had never heard before I could pick it up straight away I reckon.

Dimmu Burger 05-19-2007 08:15 AM

I'm trying to educate myself about this genre so any help would be appreciated. Has anyone heard the new Poison The Well? Because it has this vibe/mood to it that makes me think of Doom Metal. I know they aren't a doom metal band, but it sounds like they may be influenced by the genre. Any thoughts?

the2stranger 05-19-2007 08:37 AM

From what I remember Poison The Well is more hardcore/emo stuff.
The fact that it has a somber sound doesn't persay make it doom metal or doom metal related.
Also I've never heard any reference to metal in PTW's music.

If you want to be educated on some doom metal check out Candlemass and the Cathedral recommendations above.
If you want some sub-sub genre recommendations let me know.
Lots of good doom/death, depressive black, drone, funeral, stoner and sludge to check out too.

Dimmu Burger 05-19-2007 08:47 AM

"Somber", That's a good word for it, thanks for your help!

the2stranger 05-19-2007 08:51 AM

No problem man. :)

np: October Tide - Infinite Submission
(great doom/death sideproject of Renske of Katatonia, too bad they quit. :()

Nepenthe 05-19-2007 11:05 AM

12 Days Of Rain is Katatonia worthy stuff.

Txus 05-19-2007 11:07 AM

Dance Of December Souls is becoming my favorite Katatonia album, simply amazing.
