I want the New York City t-shirt that he is wearing in that picture, that would sweet. If I got that and the glasses I could be Joan Lennon or something for Halloween... or not. |
Haha, Joan Lennon. On Halloween I plan to dress like one of the GNR members, maybe Slash but that'd be really hard. Anyways, I only have one Beatles poster in my room, it's the Abbey Road one.

 Don't they all look like Halloween characters in the first place? |
Paul owns everything after Sgt. Pepper (I think he might own Sgt. Pepper too, I'm not sure). So, if I'm not mistaken, that means Paul owns Revolution 9.
But didn't Jackson sell the song "Revolution" to Nike for a commercial? |

So I got "McCartney" today in an altered state of judgement and later was very upset with myself for not getting Harrison's "brainwashed" instead
I've heard Brainwashed is amazing. That'll be my next George Harrison CD. It's sad that he was still able to record good music like that with throat cancer right before he died. Is McCartney good? |
My favorite Beatles album has to be either Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, Rubber Soul or The Whjte Album

Welcome to the forums. The White Album and Rubber Soul might be my favorites. I love them all though. My favorite pretty much changes daily. |
I really like the harmonies they had on their vocals and the backing vocals!

It was on the turntable for weeks at a time when I discovered it. McCartney > or = Brainwashed. I really like them both, though I think Paul might have the edge. |

Heck, who doesn't? I still say CSNY has the best harmonies, though. |
I recommend everyone read "With A Little Help From My Friends: The Making Of Sgt. Pepper", if you haven't yet. Not only does it detail the Sgt. Pepper sessions, which is especially interesting to me because I love reading about recording studio techniques they used, but it's a great story as well. I'm only a few chapters in and I've already learned a lot about the Beatles I didn'nt know.
With that said, I'm going cd shopping tomorrow and I'd like to hear what Beatles albums you think I should get next. I own Sgt. Peppers, Abbey Road, Revolver, MMT, and the White Album. I'm thinking Rubber Soul, Let It Be, or maybe Help!. I don't know anything about Help!, but I've heard a little about the others. Any suggestions? |
^Those were the 3 I was going to recommend looking for.
|
I'd say rubber soul to get next - **** good.

Pepper, movie I believe it was made 20 years after Sgt. Pepper was released. |

Is usually lumped in with their poppier days, but I really like it. It even dips into the bluegrass a little. It is the perfect segway into the rather gradual change from Beatles for Sale-era to Revolver-era |

I love Help. It's a really short album though. They mastered pop with Help. Definitely get Rubber Soul. It was the first Beatles cd I got, so it has special significance. Norwegian Wood and In My Life are two of Lennon's masterpieces. It's kind of a bridge between Help and Revolver. Speaking of that, I once listened to Help, Rubber Soul, and Revolver all in a row when I was bored one day. It was really interesting to see how they evolved. |
*Random Fact:Ringo got the most fan mail out of any of the Beatles. :)
and another little fact, the beatles also made movie montages popular. oh and incase you havent seen a beatles movie, they all kinda suck. :D PS: no disrespect to the band, because they made great music. |

I read somewhere that John did that really often up until Sgt. Peppers came out, and then it was just too many albums to listen to. But he liked to listen to all their albums in chronological order and notice changes in the style. |
So I went to four stores looking for these cd's. The first two didn't have any of them, the third had Rubber Soul and Help!, but they were both $19 (no thank you), and I found Rubber Soul for $17 at the fourth. I was hesitant to pay that much, considering how the first two stores I stopped at sell cd's for $12, but I wasn't about to leave with nothing.
In the end, I ended up with Rubber Soul, and no Help! or Let It Be. AND, yesterday my internet was out, so I was reading that Sgt. Pepper book all day, and I finished it. It really was an amazing book, what they did with some of the songs was way ahead of their time, George Martin was a genius. I suggest everyone read it. |

Yeah they kicked ***. Queen's are my favorite though, somehow they managed to get this cool sci-fi sound to it. And to whomever said the Beatles movies sucked, shame on you. A Hard Day's Night is considered one of the greatest films ever made. Help is pretty funny (its fricken hilarious if you're a James Bond fan like myself). Yellow Submarine is classic (my favorite movie). I don't really care what your opinion is about MMT, because except for the music I don't care for that film at all. And Let it Be is good, except it isn't a film with a story, its a documentary. |
I haven't seen any of the Beatles movies in years.
|
The MMT is hilarious. It's so pointless that it's funny. Help is my favorite movie though. And Rubber Soul is a lot better than Help and Let it Be, so you made the right choice IMO.
|
I love them all, even MMT
