So I bought Yank Crime awhile ago and borrowed

Ben Harper - Live From Mars
The Cure - Bloodflowers
Spiritualized - Let it Come Down
Chemical Brothers -Surrender
Mercury Rev - All is Dream
Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness

and some other stuff from ze library yesterday.

I think I'm gonna have a good week.

Tapeworm 02-13-2005 09:59 PM

I've bene crazy digging Mission of Burma and Jawbox.

YDload 02-14-2005 06:17 PM

After a few trials and tribulations, I eventually got Yes' "Close to the Edge" epic downloaded from Zappa. It is pure awesomeness, especially Rick Wakeman's use of keyboards. Those rarely catch my attention, but the way they come in during the... third act?... is bliss.

I_Sold_The_World 02-14-2005 06:29 PM

I've been listening to a hell of a lot of Hopesfall lately

Reaganista 02-14-2005 06:34 PM

I've listened to Silent Alarm about 25 times since realizing that I actually liked it.

Little Man being Erased 02-14-2005 07:45 PM

Anyone got any ideas on what Nick Cave album I should get next? I've only got Abbatoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus. I'm thinking maybe The Boatman's Call.

Tomahawk 02-14-2005 09:58 PM

The only other one I've got is Murder Ballads, and it's awesome.

But I was talking to a massive Nick Cave fan a few days ago, and he swears that Tender Prey is the best.

Little Man being Erased 02-14-2005 10:00 PM

Yeah, I've nearly bought Murder Ballads a few times 'cause I've heard how good it is.

Zappa 02-14-2005 10:06 PM

I have Let Love In by Nick Cave, and I think it's fantastic. A good next buy.

Little Man being Erased 02-14-2005 10:09 PM

There's too-bloody-many to choose from.

Tomahawk 02-14-2005 10:59 PM

I'm digging David Byrne right now.

I went to his concert a couple of days ago, it was amazing. He played much more Talking Heads stuff than I thought he would, and his solo stuff was mostly great too. Only downside was the fairly dead audience, but it was still an awesome show.

Tangy zizzle 02-15-2005 12:23 AM

Get Murder Ballads, From Her To Eternity, Let Love In, No More Shall We Part, Tender Prey, The Boatman's Call and Henry's Dream.

Get them in that order, and get them now.

Done and Done.

br3ad_man 02-15-2005 12:52 AM
Do they (he) tour with a band? I want to try and get a friend or two to see M83 live but I really don't want to go just to see some guy playing with his keyboard all night.
I think theres like 5 of them who tour. It's not just him anyway. I think it has it on their record label's website.

I've been digging The Music and Tomahawk and for some reason, I made another attempt to like black metal. It didn't work.

I'm also trying to dig Brainiac...

Aramis 02-15-2005 02:47 AM

Whitesnake - Here I Go Again
Night Ranger - Sister Christian
Christopher Cross - Sailing
Chaka Khan - Through the Fire

asymm 02-15-2005 08:19 AM

hrrmmm...
Just got a Bjork's Greatest Hits DVD with her videos for Valentine's Day... so I've been watching that. But I've also been spinning The Smiths - Meat is Murder

Bandaid 02-15-2005 08:28 AM

a friend lent me estradasphere - buck fever, im yet to listen through it all but it seems quite a demanding listen, some good stuff in their

biografiend 02-15-2005 08:46 AM

The Go! Team
Apostle of Hustle

amazing lo-fi indie bands <3

KappaKid17 02-15-2005 09:25 AM

I just DL'ed some Hot Snakes, and am very pleased...

Also: the live version of 'Drive' that Incubus does now is 10000000x's better than the original. I like the low-key, lounge feel to it, as well as the main bassline, and Mike's soloing at the end.

Interstate 02-15-2005 10:36 AM

i've been listening to alot by these bands so far this week:

The Bees
I Am Kloot
The Bravery
Notwist
Guided By Voices
The Walkmen

I'm particularly listening to alot of Guided By Voices, I heard about them years ago but for some stupid reason i've only just decided to download more songs rather than just listening to 'Teenage FBI'.

Get Let Love In or The Boatman's Call.

Murder Ballads is awesome too, but it turns to **** in the second half.

Luxor 02-15-2005 11:32 AM

i finally got some stuff by M83. I got "Dead Cities...", but, it's not as good as the "Don't Save Us From The Flames" single. So I'm most likely going to get the album that tracks off of as well.

Electrocution 02-15-2005 03:40 PM

My latest Purchases:
At The Drive-In - Acrobatic Tenement
Cursive - Domestica
Joy Division - Closer

Doctor D. 02-15-2005 04:17 PM

For some reason,I've been listening to hip-hop almost all the time.

Ol' Dirty Bastard
MF Doom
Madvillian
Kool Keith
Pep Lover

Mooney Suzuki
Bearsuit
I've listened to Silent Alarm about 25 times since realizing that I actually liked it.
Yeah, I've really enjoyed this album. It's not a monumental step in this angular rock that's so popular, but I think they refine a few things in it to provide a sound which is appealing enough.

Zappa 02-15-2005 07:42 PM

It's Talking Heads night. I listened to Talking Heads: 77, More Songs About Buildings And Food, and Fear of Music right in a row, and now that Fear of Music has finished up, I started Remain in Light.

Wow.

Luxor 02-15-2005 07:44 PM

I haven't listened to Remain In Light for weeks... I think my girlfriend has it.

Zappa 02-15-2005 07:46 PM

You know you're listening to a fantastic band when you can put on their first 4 (conceivably 5) releases and listen straight through without skipping a single track.

I'm obsessed.
