Spirit_In_Black 07-15-2004 04:14 AM

talking about toms voice, my favourite moment in a slayer song (as in the vocals) is either the first few lines of south of heaven when he sings:

"An unforseen future nestled somewhere in time, unsuspecting victims no warning no time. Judgement day the second coming arrives. Before you see the light, YOU MUST DIE!!!"

or the first bit in criminally insane when he sings :

"Night will come and i will follow, all my victims no tommorow, make it fast through time of sorrow, along this trail, ill make you FOLLOW!"

i still remeber the first time i heard both, especially the line in south of heaven, i remember grinning and thinking 'slayer ****ing rule!'
but you gotta admit, AJFAs definatly metallica most thrash album, its their angry album after cliff died and you can really hear the agression in it.
songs like blackened, dyers eve and frayed ends of sanity are great examples.
And plus, it has so many of metallicas best songs on it.
I would say kill em all was there most thrashiest and and justice was definatly there most technical, And justice is a brilliant album but with the bass actually being audible it would have been alot better

yea i heard that jason wrote all these complex basslines for songs like one, its a shame you cant hear any of them.
if the bass was there im sure everyone would agreed the justice album is metallicas best.
never liked kill em all nearly as much as RTL MOP and AJFA, it just sounded a bit ammatuerish, however you spell it, but you're right it was very thrashy.

couldnt metallica like remaster the album and rewcord new basslines and mix them in or something? is that possible?

There is a bass solo bit in one but you cant hear it.
Kill em all isnot my favorite either, james isnt sure about his vocals and kirk solos consist of the same thing on every song but still its a great album
I guess they could remaster it and reissue it but i think they have made enogh money already

lilpete86 07-15-2004 05:09 AM

I really would like to see a remastered version of ...and justice for all with the bass put properly into the mix. Whenever I listen to that album it always seems a bit weak and flat.
I'll see if I can record me doin it at a practice let you guys judge it, but I don't like how it sounds, so I don't really even bother. I love the song anyways.

Manuscriptreplica, how long have you been playing?
About 4 years or so. More like 5years now. Doing a music course at the moment.

I downloaded Slayer's video from the Ozzfest in '96, and all i got was a UUUUUUUUURRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH.

Corporal Compendia 07-15-2004 06:12 AM
Yeah, look at Halford...he can still hit the high stuff at his age. I dunno about Araya though, when's the last time he did a decent scream on a Slayer album?
Like I said, it's cheesy, he probably doesn't want to do that kind of thing anymore.

DimebagDarrell 07-15-2004 06:14 AM

On the course im on it goes towards your grade if you get a band up and running the place set up gigs for you and everything ;) plus you get 4hours band rehearsal a week :) its pretty cool

I'm stuck with two bitches that can only sing pop songs. And my drummer is a complete wanker. But it's fun, nonetheless.

Slayer - Reign In Blood - Literally!

SLAYER fan site Slayer Saves has posted a review of the group's July 11 show in Augusta, Maine, which was filmed for an upcoming live DVD, entitled "Reign in Blood Live: Still Reigning". As previously reported, the disc will feature a full performance of the 1986 album "Reign in Blood" by all original members of the veteran thrash metal outfit. The DVD, due on September 28, will have an approximate 75-minute running time and will retail for $14.98. An excerpt from the Slayer Saves review follows:

"The band took a short encore pause from 'Angel of Death' to 'Piece by Piece', same as they did on the Jager tour. Blood rained from the lighting rig upon the beginning of 'Raining Blood' soaking Tom and bloodying Kerry (Jeff avoided the bulk of the blood). The only adverse result of the blood was it killed the sound of Dave's cymbals for the end of the song when once again it poured blood soaking everything including the drums. The effect was quite striking and the crowd was blown away. A blood soaked Tom addressed the cheering crowd with a sneering smile and the words 'We'll see you in HELL.' Comments from people leaving the venue were positive and I think the show was received extremely well. The blood effect was amazing and worth every penny alone."

Set list from the shoot:

01. Disciple
02. War Ensemble
03. Hallowed Point
04. Necrophiliac
05. Spill the Blood
06. Fight Till Death
07. Payback
08. Dead Skin Mask
09. Mandatory Suicide
10. Hell Awaits
11. South of Heaven
12. Angel of Death
13. Piece by Piece
14. Necrophobic
15. Altar of Sacrifice
16. Jesus Saves
17. Criminally Insane
18. Reborn
19. Epidemic
20. Postmortem
21. Raining Blood

Shady Ultima 07-15-2004 02:28 PM

Well, my drummer is a lazy fatass, so he can't play Angel of Death, can anyone recommend another good Slayer song before Lombardo left?

sensitiveorgan00 07-15-2004 03:27 PM

Postmortem, Hell Awaits, Seasons in teh Abyss, Chemical Warfare, At Dawn They Sleep, BLACK MAGIC, etc.

Ratmevilempire 07-15-2004 03:35 PM
is that the one where they played whiplash?
they do play whiplash, they play it at alot of shows/did play it.During the show they play almost all of kill em all.I'll find a setlist for it.That slayer thing sounds bitchin. It comes out the day before my birthday so I want that and the new megadeth album, unless i go and download it and hate it.

hamstercaster 07-15-2004 06:33 PM
^^ Reign in Blood is way better than any of the death metal albums you guys talk about in your group. Not that death metal isn't good or anything, but thrash just slays.

EDIT: Sorry, I should say, I LIKE it better. Not "it is better"
I love your avatar. I grew up listening to those bands.......and still enjoy them quite a bit although I need to get the new Exodus and would need to get some possessed if it ever came out on cd.

Woohoo... alright, my two-man band Mithryl are now recording our EP. It is entitled "Bring Out Your Dead"... our website is at http://www.mithryl.tk/. Anyway, I only have one song under lyrics so far, but let me know what you think of just that song's lyrics. I'm finishing up the title track's lyrics, and ive finished the music for that one.... i love it, it is a great tune so far. Anyway, when the EP is done, i will be putting it on the computer for all to download. Until then, at least check out who were are and everything... -Griffin

Ellefson Vs Mustaine

BLABBERMOUTH.NET has obtained a copy of the 38-page complaint filed by former MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson against the group's leader, David Mustaine, alleging the singer shortchanged him on profits and backed out of a deal to turn Megadeth Inc. over to him when the band broke up in 2002. Ellefson also accuses Mustaine of locking him out of merchandise and publishing royalties. Ellefson is seeking $18.5 million from Mustaine, including $10 million in punitive damages stemming from Mustaine's "libelous statements" on MEGADETH's web site "falsely accusing" Ellefson of trying to "extort" Mustaine in order to appear on the new MEGADETH record.
