jon: you're cool sometimes.
That's way better than what I expected from Vince. thanks, man!

bottlerocket 08-10-2006 11:38 PM
So you decided to do it then? That's cool. I wish I had the skills to write a mad song.

Instead I'm going to have to play As Long As She Doesn't Smoke by OTMOP because holy **** that song rules so hard.
Yeah, thanks man.

That song DOES rule hard. I love the chord in that intro...
sometimes i wonder why everyone can't be as cool as gav

night j
Vince, ilu. <3
I show work in progresses all the time...just ask Vince or Ash...
I know you do. Listen to my work in progress. Lemme know what you think please, thanks.
Because we don't live in Mass and don't have crazy cool Boston accents k?
Man, my accent rules so hard it's not even funny.

I mean that the songs that are acoustic on their CDs are better than the electric ones, in general.

Jon is always cool.
but truthfully most of their songs have some electric in them. it's just not dominant in most.

justin: i want sushi :(

jon: i'm in a generous mood, in a few hours i'll probably be all pms-y and not so nice :p
http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=F964E0B05AAA8C8D

Any input is welcomed.
Well, first think I noticed is for the finger picking riff I could tell where you were going before you went there. Kinda predictable with the bass note changes. If you don't care about that, then it sounds fine.

The strummed part is pretty.

The part after that is nice. Sounds like you're blowing into the mic the whole time, though :p

Oh, and no vocals wtf!?

Not something I'd remember in a few hours, but it's by no means bad. The lyrics and such will probably be the focus of the song anyway.

You know what would get my panties off? An acoustic bass song.

Haha, I think I heard it once.

The rest was you screaming.

Oh, and the song was nice. Very soothing. I could probably fall asleep to it. :)

Vince: Me too. :(

B 08-10-2006 11:41 PM

I think I'm going to listen to some more OTMOP and go to bed.

The song is good Gav but like Jon said the intro type part was extremely predictable if that matters. Sounds really nice though.

bottlerocket 08-10-2006 11:43 PM

I was thinking the intro's predictable too. I may rewrite it to something a bit more different and original.

The whole song's fingerpicked/finger strummed. I don't use pics 'cuz I play bass and I literally just can't use a pic anymore. I hate the feeling. :p

That's my mom washing stuff in the sink; that's what the blowing noise is. Sorry guys. :(

I hate acoustic bass. :(

-Gav

Permanent Solution 08-10-2006 11:45 PM

2 things:
you can't be expected to be real original in your first song on an instrument

and

predictable is catchier. lets all look at the unpopularity of progressive music versus the popularity of pop.

bottlerocket 08-10-2006 11:46 PM

I am way better at bass than guitar. Bass is my main instrument and I'm still learning guitar. It's a lot of fun, though. :)

I was thinking of it; playing a Potrait of Tracy type song but I figure this is better. I may just do that, though, but I don't want to overdo it.

Where's a girl's input when you need it. :(

Vince: The first part isn't all that true. It's not my first song on guitar. It's my first solo acoustic guitar-type song thing because usually I'm writing riffs for my band or something (well...ex band).

-Gav

DJ Ducksauce 08-10-2006 11:47 PM

You came in right when she left. :p

B 08-10-2006 11:47 PM

I'm off. Have to work at 9 and I probably won't get to sleep until like 6 so I need to like at least lay down or something.

Ha, I've been writing for months and I still can't write something original! I didn't know that was his first song on guitar. That's better than it should be, then :p

...bassists who use picks are the worst...

well it's still your first song imo because it's your first solo effort

Night Pop-Punkers.

bottlerocket 08-10-2006 11:54 PM

I only wanted you to listen to one song that showcased his talent! Not a whole album!

bottlerocket 08-11-2006 12:00 AM

Bigwig, the band from NJ?

Sellout's a great song.

night gavin

i'll post a critique of your song later so be sure to read back tomorrow.

Permanent Solution 08-11-2006 12:48 AM

ATTN: GAVIN

The intro has so much potential if you had more notes in it. More notes doesn't mean speedier or anything, I can just hear so many more notes in my head filling out the sound and making it uber pretty.

Strumming: meh, this is what bores me about acoustic bands tbh.

The second picking pattern was neat but with the current lack of transition it's awkward so I'd like to hear it in the context of the song itself before judging. (Yes I know it's a work in progress)

masada 08-11-2006 01:24 AM

I'm so not getting banned again.

Ah, it's late.

TheBigMachine 08-11-2006 04:50 AM

Good evening pop punk.

Bad Blood 08-11-2006 04:51 AM

Sup, Mitch.

TheBigMachine 08-11-2006 05:15 AM

Chillin.
Oh, I so desperatley need some new trainers. Mine are like three sizers to small...Not fun, especially when your doing sharp turns and the like. Ouch.
