Hey zowe you have your lip pierced right?

Mexican Bandito 05-02-2006 12:27 PM

yeah, I've got it done vertically :)

How's the argument coming along about getting it done?! :p

FVG27 05-02-2006 12:31 PM

What do you mean vertically?

I haven't attempted it yet :-/ I need some good counter arguments. How did you go about winning your parents over?

Mexican Bandito 05-02-2006 12:39 PM

It actually goes through my lip rather than the skin underneath it (labret)
http://www.bmezine.com/pierce/05-lips/A60417/high/bmegl256895.jpg <--like that

Well I said to them and my dad was fine with it, he's really cool when it comes to piercings, tattoos etc "you only live once" sort of thing. My mum knows that I'm into piercings so she knew that I'd get it done anyway even if she did say no. So I kinda had it easy I guess.
Just remind them that you're over 16, it's your own body.
What would they do if you just went and got it done?...

They would go pretty pyscho. I think if I was 18 they'd be cool with it 'cause I'd be moving out pretty soon anyway but I think for now they'd feel responsible for me if it was the 'wrong decision'. My mum has kind of said maybe, but my dad is saying downright no. But if my mum agreed, she talk him round anyways.

EDIT: Jesus that looks as if it hurt :-/ Seriously now though, how much did it really hurt?

Mexican Bandito 05-02-2006 12:52 PM

Show them that you can make the right decisions about things, then they'll realise that you're not a little girl anymore and that you can be trusted.

It was the sorest of all my piercings (not ears) but the pain was about 4 seconds then it went away. It swelt (is that a word?!) up a hell of alot though but that's normal for any piercing. I've not had any bother with it since. It's hard to say because I'm quite good when it comes to pain... everyone is different.

Hmm I see... I'm pretty good with pain I guess. Did you have to clean in with that spirit stuff liek you do when you get your ears pierced? And also how long is it before you can eat/speak properly without pain? Oh yeah and how long do you have to leave it before you can take it out and change it?

2muchket! 05-02-2006 01:01 PM

I for one canna wait till I get the boro badge tatooed on my bicep.

Mexican Bandito 05-02-2006 01:01 PM

They cleaned it for me.
I got a huge barbell put in and I could change it 3 days later to a smaller one, once the swelling had gone down. But I've not taken it out for more than 5 minutes.
I left the studio and got on the train and ate a subway! :p and it didn't hurt.

It could be different if you're getting a labret because that actually goes into your mouth, mine doesn't...
They'll tell you all this anyway at the studio.

Lord Abortion 05-02-2006 01:01 PM

It's "Swelled"

Cool cool. How did they do it? Just ram a needle through there?

Mexican Bandito 05-02-2006 01:07 PM
It's "Swelled"
thank you deary

To Herb: Yeah that's basically what she did.
Drew the dots on, let me check it then stuck a needle up it!
I'll look to see if they're a video of someone getting it done so you can see :thumb:

breadbin 05-02-2006 01:10 PM

i had a phase where i wanted a lip piercing but then i realised id have no home to live in.

:barf: I just found a couple on google video. Do they numb it before sticking the needle in really slowly?

Mexican Bandito 05-02-2006 01:19 PM

That's the best one I could find.
I think it depends on the piercer. I didn't get mine numbed, but the adreneline kicks in and you hardly feel it anyway. It's a tiny piece of skin.

Yeesh... ha I hope you're right :p

breadbin 05-02-2006 02:06 PM

i dont think i could do that, im too much of a wimp.

2muchket! 05-02-2006 02:16 PM

It really doesn't look too painful.

Jev 05-02-2006 02:16 PM

Same here. Piercings don't really appeal to me either.

2muchket! 05-02-2006 02:23 PM

I'd prefer getting a tatoo especally of my beloved football club.

PAJJ 05-02-2006 02:36 PM

I don't think i'd ever get a tattoo, i know that in about a month i'd get bored of it and want to change it.

tumples 05-02-2006 02:36 PM

hi everyone, man, busiest day ever, ive only just got in.

Mexican Bandito 05-02-2006 02:38 PM

Yeah I think that about tattoos too.
Piercings however I love, the feeling when you get one done is unexplainable.
I'm worried that I won't know when to stop... :(

Atomic Rain 05-02-2006 02:45 PM

I'd never get a peircing or a tatoo. Not my kinda thing.

I think that having them leads people to judge the kind of person they're talking too on sight; more than 1-2 facial peircings on someone and the nazi in me goes "nnng..."

Then again, these kids today with their fashions. I'm the one with the hippy hair-not-cut.
