fuck! we dont have pbs on campus! im so pissed.
What scene is that I've forgotten. Elton John's alright he's one of those artists I can't really listen to a whole CD and enjoy but in small doses he's great.
The scene where they pick up Russell from the house party after he dropped a lot of acid, and they're on the bus and they all starting singing Tiny Dancer and everyone gets happy. The Live 8 DVD comes out November 8th in the US, the 7th everywhere else. Is anyone going to pick it up? Because MTV & VH1 cut out most of the good Hyde Park performances (like the first Who song), I might get it, although I don't really like some of the acts at certain concerts. |
depends how much it is. If its four DVDs again, I probbaly wont go over $50. Most of its garbage anyway.
I have Pink Floyd playing at Live 8 on my comp and thats all i really need... |
I don't think I'll get it, I don't really buy DVDs.
Though that special edition DVD of The Big Lebowski came out recently.... |
Yeah, that's the only thing I'm really worried about is the price.
|

I think the Live Aid DVD was like $30 or something.
I'll help with the uploading thingy, I guess. |
No Direction Home should start any second. Wednesday night is going to be sweet. That Best of the Beatles show and history of protest songs look awesome. This is the first time I've watched PBS.
And it's starting :D |
Iiiiiiiiitttttttttt'ssss Onnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow. No wonder he hated his folk fans so much. I like the guy who mentioned his "wretched harmonica" and the guy who said he was "prostituting himself" |
I wonder if he though John Lennon's Harmonica was wretched?
Lennon thought his own harmonica playing was terrible didn't he? Lennon worshipped Dylan though, at least while the Beatles were together. In "God", he says "I don't believe in Dylan..." so maybe he soured on him. He loved Dylan at one point though. |
Well, it's pretty good, but at least for the first hour they haven't focused on Dylan as much. I don't mind seeing other folk musicians, but really, it's a documentary about Dylan, not folk music in general. 2 or 3 other bands would've been enough for me.
EDIT: I'm YSIing a mix of Pink Floyd "hard" songs, and send it to all the metalheads, and say "Get back to your metal roots" or something. |
Ah! It's not on in my timezone yet!
*covers ears* |
crap, my roomate turned it off while i was out smoking. jerk.
|
Those folkies really didn't like the same chord on a different instrument did they?
i love:
I dont think there will ever be a band as good as the beatles because they had three songwriters who could have all easily been Bigger than anything before but lucky for them they were all in the same band. i dont think as much talent could be packed into one band nowadays. Notice on the later albums they all started to explore in thier own directions but they still made **** good songs.
Not only that, but they each had their unique individual songwriting styles. I can pick a Harrison over a Lennon/McCartney and even Lennon and McCartney although went off in divergant directions, had a unique shared style. I think that McCartney's solo writing style is more beatle-esque than Harrison or Lennon's. But now we're getting off topic. Yeah, I love the classic rock too. There are plenty of artists that I am still yet to get in to, such as The Who and The Doors. My favourites are pretty much Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Dire Straits, though I'm not entirely sure how classic rock one could call the Straits. |

They're considered classic rock, we were just discussing them the other day. Welcome to the thread, it seems we have very similar tastes in music  |
That was very cool. Did you guys notice the young members of The Band?
|
Yeah, magicbus. I thought tonight they would show childhood to late 60's. Than tomorrow night show the latter of his career.
|
That was great I thought the ending was the best though. Man! That Folk fest must've been a blast to go to! The best part was when Howlin' Wolf got all the black people dancing....he's the only Blues singer that could rock the house like that.....oh and Bob was good too. :)

I really liked the "Festival" footage at the end too. That was my favorite part. |
Buddy Guy just played a song off his new album on Jay Leno. It sounded pretty good, hopefully I'll be able to pick it up this weekend.
|
Comes out tomorrow. :)
|
I missed that Bob Dylan special!! :upset: I was helping my dad with some work, then suddenly I was like "Oh crap, what time is it??" and it was too late. Did they say they'd be replaying it anytime soon?
|
Comes out tomorrow. :)
Yea but I only have 10 bucks right now, and I might need gas. So I'll use my work money when I get some on Friday. There's going to be another half of that Dylan special tomorrow at the same time, but I'm not sure if/when they're going to be playing the first half again. |
Hopefully they'll release it on DVD or something, I heard way too many good things about that documentary to not see it.

good man.
in other news, im uploading the deluxe edition of jeff buckley's grace. but only the second disc. does anyone want it? i can upload the first disc as well. |
I'd never seen how people really reacted so badly to him going electric though...in the first half-hour when they showed people leaving his gigs responding that negatively, it was quite surprising.
Well think about it....Dylan gained his fame off playing pure and plain Folk songs so his fanbase would obviously be mainly fans of easy listining acoustic Folk music (hence not Rock fans). It's not suprising they acted the way they did; they thought he was selling out.
NP: Talking World War III Blues - Bob Dylan |
