How come? It was wrote as a tribute to Cliff.
James could've still come up with it and Cliff could've helped improve it. |
James could've still come up with it and Cliff could've helped improve it.
i dunno if james would have come up with it without cliff's dying. also, megadeth's In My Darkest Hour was a pretty awesome song, also related to cliff's death. |
Metallica isn't thrash...while they were one the first bands to have that sound they aren't a thrash band. Lars himself said that.
 since when are we accepting everything lars says about metallica's direction and genre? ulrich's word is about as good as mustaine's, at this point in time. |
i dunno if james would have come up with it without cliff's dying.

I think it's about him and I love it. It's one of my favourite 'deth songs. Not having it wouldn't be so great but think about it, what Megadeth songs are we missing out on if Cliff lived? |

uhh basically just IMDH, right? or are you trying to make a point? i'm confused. i don't think any other songs were (allegedly) about cliff. |
I mean if Cliff had lived would there have been Megadeth songs about him that aren't around today?
heh, it's a bit confusing I can't word it properly. |
Wow.
I guess even though he was booted Dave must have been good friends with Cliff. Im guessing Dave wrote IMDH... |
(Regarding IMDH)
"This song was written the day that I found out that Cliff Burton had died. It's a very moving song for me because it really expresses a lot of the emotion that I was going through. I was really sad and I think the music kind of carries that kind of feeling with it. A lot of people have written our fan club and said, 'Dave, I have nothing really to live for, life sucks, and then you die, ' and that 'this song's given me something to look forward to and I understand now and I see someone like you that also goes through these problems, ' and let's face it, life sucks. But there's certain things that can get you through and when I find out that people were turned on by this music and it gives them hope to carry on and stuff like that, it makes me feel good. Anyway, I hope this song works for you."
Happy, it looks like burton's death did in fact have a strong effect on mustaine, and consequently, his songwriting. so uhh yeah maybe we wouldn't have a lot of megadeth stuff if burton had lived :O so uhh, back to metallica before someone tells me to fuck off to the 'deth thread. |
:'(
That's sad. Daves deep man. *cries like a pansie* |
I'd like to hear the next album. I won't buy it unless it's good. I own everything up to S&M, but I never bought St. Anger because it sucks so much. Hopefully this one will redeem Metallica for the terrible album they put out a couple years ago.
And I hope Lars buys a new snare. |

Metallica borrowed music? Anyone know what this is about? |

Metallica borrowed music? Anyone know what this is about?
No. But I do know Sanitarium's main riff is stolen from an obscure NWOBHM band called Rainbow House and the "mutiny in the air" melody sound identical to Helena by the Misfits. |
Yo Metallicats and dawgs. Bleeding Me live at Woodstock anyone?
http://www.youtube.com/w/Metallica---Bleeding-Me-%28Woodstock99%29?v=fKkKF8owIm0&search=bleeding%20me%20metallica%20live Such an awesome song, and and awesome performance. Also, James's hair is kinda long :smoke: |
I love Metallica, theyve been my favorite band for quite a few years. Cliff Burton is one of my heroes and a big inspiration for how I play bass. Im lookin forward tothe next album because Ive been hearing that its gonna be pretty pi$$ed off sounding, like how they were in the old days. Only Album I dont like is Re-Load

St Anger sounded pissed off. Not in a good way though. |
St Anger sounded pissed off. Not in a good way though.
well yeah, youre right, but I meant better production, better riffs and hooks. Ive heard theyre attempting to do stuff like on Puppets and Justice. Man I hope what Ive heard is true. |

Metallica borrowed music? Anyone know what this is about?
Some actual proof would be better than what another artist says. Some artists are honest, and some are jaleous, so you never know really. What's the name of the band and song that they took sanitarium riff from? I really want to hear that since I love that riff. |
Well duh.We know Jason and Cliff were better bassist than Rob and did way more writing than Rob.
But hey, they needed a new bassist and Rob was available. :thumb: (And he doesn't do a bad job either)
Rob wasn't there to write anything...of course he hasn't done any writing. abd Please stop with the 123 smily post. And yea my band is doing the Tallica version. Not the thin lizzy version. They are kinda weak in that song. James was a huge fan of them growing up so that's why Metallica coverd it. Hey Joe (lol favorite song) thanks for that Bass solo. How did you find my E-mail? |

You were close. The band was bleak house and song rainbow warrior. Blabbermouth has it and mp3 here. http://www.roadrun.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=29709 The intro riff does sound very similar. The vocals in that band sound like green day. lol. |
Almost right

I wouldn't be suprised if Metallica did steal it. Being as though they where big NWOBHM fans. |
Yeh, they've admitted to stealing the Sanitarium riff, but refused to say where from.
:smash: |
Ehh, who cares really. So they used another song for inspiration and elaborated on it, big deal. Cant be COMPLETELY original all the time.
|
TBH, I don't care. Its just something they took and put to better use.
:smash: |
Ehh, who cares really. So they used another song for inspiration and elaborated on it, big deal. Cant be COMPLETELY original all the time.
Yea i dont care either. Sanitarium kicks ***, so thank god they made it. |
drink Coke ya gay bastard :p
weather or not they stole a riff the song still kicks *** |
Yeah but they should've mentioned it before.
|
it doesn't matter...they ar emore famous from ripping of 1 riff then that other band will ever be
