breakdown at the beginning of that song is punishing

Cool bro.

Honestly, I don't care for any post-2006 metalcore. Too many fashion trends and soundalike bands for my liking. To be honest, the genre itself has grown rather stale as of late. That said, I do enjoy:
Converge The Chariot Between the Buried and Me Norma Jean (early) Hopesfall (again, early stuff) Glass Casket Becoming the Archetype Yakuza (more prog metal, but still has a lot of metalcore influences) Zao The Dillinger Escape Plan (technically mathcore, but it's still metalcore by definition) Living Sacrifice Protest the Hero The Human Abstract (only Nocturne) SikTh |
Genre has been stale for the past few years but this year has actually been a pretty decent year for the volume of releases.
btw mathcore is a bullshit tag, and protest the hero have practically 0 hardcore influence so they're not metalcore. |

They aren't metalcore bro.
And I think Mathcore is a fair genre title. |
i usually refer to PtH as power metalcore
|
progressive core
lol |
Explain.

this came from wikipedia so it must be right: Metalcore is a fusion genre combining various elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. The name of it is a portmanteau of the names of the two genres. The term took on its current meaning in the mid-1990s, describing bands such as Earth Crisis, Deadguy and Integrity.[3] The earliest of these groups, Integrity, began performing in 1988; some modern practitioners of the genre include Killswitch Engage, Underoath, All That Remains, As I Lay Dying and The Devil Wears Prada.[4] Metalcore is distinguished from other punk metal fusions by its emphasis on breakdowns:[5] slower, intense passages conducive to moshing.

New Counterparts is great.

If breakdowns equal hardcore parts then suffocation are deathcore going by your logic. Lol quoting from wikipedia too. |
I almost saw them at a random garage show. Sadly they had begun their drive to the next venue and weren't there. I still saw Shai Hulud though, so it's all good.
|
I think it's a fair assumption that PtH have some 'core' aspects, but they're not a Metalcore band.
|
I'd love to see Shai Hulud live. And I'd love to see Misery Signals again.

Lol quoting from wikipedia too.
that whole post was sarcasm on my part |
IN A FUCKING GARAGE! Can't get more legit than that.

they used to play melodic hardcore now they play power metal sure one could imply metalcore by association but nah |
Power metal? Now we're just getting ridiculous.
|
They do have some similarities to power metal. The lyrics are straight up power metal though.
|
power pop metal core jazz fusion
tbh |
Sounds like 'mathcore' to me idk.
Who gives a fuck when you're hatexmoshing the fuck out of a room to dismembodied anyway tbh |
ket! do you like Kerouac?
I figure you would cuz you know UK band n such |
They're on one of my favourite labels dude yeah they're fucking sweet.
|
they probably play locally (to you) all the time
/jelly |
I've caught half of their set before (poor time keeping by my friends ffs) and they were pretty dec live.
Check out Bastions and Antares, they're on the same label as Kerouac, and you may as well check out Santa Karla another sweet uk band. |
