Well then... Anesthesia was an awesome live solo, but failed on KEA as a studio recording IMO. TBH, bass solos in metal should be left to one man: Billy Sheehan.

And Trivium did headline when I saw them. Played for an hour I think... No individual solos, just tore through the tracks.

:smash:

Mein bass 01-06-2006 06:06 PM

I saw this local band called Dirty Harry who does nothing but cover 80's metal songs, and they played one.
It actually didn't sound to bad,but the bassist tuned way to high :-\
Hey what's all this NP talk?

logain 01-06-2006 06:11 PM

Mein bass 01-06-2006 06:22 PM

You mean something like Anesthesia or something like Orion? He's a great bassist, it would be shameful if they didn't show him off.
Do you think that they would maybe put Jungle Essence on there if they were to put a bass solo track? Or even a similar version of it?

Mein bass 01-06-2006 06:28 PM

I would hope so.
Metallica has always been a favorite of mine, and to say all the great bass lines/solos didn't have anything to do with it would be a lie.
Metallica has always been my bass solo fix.:chug:

I'd say so. He's in his avatar.

Joe 01-06-2006 09:38 PM

You have to admit Jason wasn't a bad bassist either.

I don't know. Maybe part of another song but probably not its own track.

Without a doubt. Jason had some awesome riffs and he also had more time in the band then Cliff did. I'm curious as what ...AJFA would have been like with Cliff.

I never really did think Anesthesia was that impressive. I hope if they do do something on the next album that its more impressive.

BLS_Infernus 01-06-2006 09:41 PM

I think a really test is to see who is better Rob or Cliff...in sound I would say Rob...stage presence is equally in my opinion

There'd be no To Live Is To Die.

Yea I was just thinking about that. All those riffs would still exsist because Cliff wrote most of them, but yes they would be different songs. I have a feeling the songs would have been a little shorter and most definitely more bass.

They most likely would have kept writing thrash too.

What about if Kirk stayed with Exodus. I keep thinking about that too.

I wouldn't like Metallica. They'd be too out of reach for me. I got into Metallica because I liked Enter Sandman which wasn't thrash at all. Liked that, then Fade to Black, and etc.

How about if they didn't hire Bob?

They'd still have my respect. :thumb:

Joe 01-06-2006 09:52 PM

And I think Exodus would be better.

Why don't they?

Ok, hasty reply :p I still love the music they released with Bob, but it doesn't strike me as being 'Metallica'.

I know Cliff wrote the poem. To Live Is To Die was one of his sayings. Most of the riffs were old ones Cliff wrote. So if he hadn't have died they most likely wouldn't have been used in one song.

Apocalyptic Raids 01-06-2006 10:14 PM

Exodus wouldn't have been much better or worse with Kirk. Gary Holt has always done the majority of songwriting in Exodus anyway.

The only difference is that Impaler probably would have been included on Bonded By Blood.

as i said but forgot to say that the riffs in that song were his:angry:

when Kirk was in Exodus did he help write some of the lyrics and riffs?
