Not sure if anyone here would know, but what's the better Pixies album between Surfer Rosa and Dolitte?

The A&I thread kicks ***. About the Greek mythology debate from last page, I don't think writing about it is cheesy at all. We just read The Odyssey in English class and it was great. For the essay, the teacher made us compare a movie with it, and I chose Lord of the Rings. You'd be shocked how many similarities there are in it. If great non-cheesy books are written with obvious links to mythology, I don't see how it is cheesy for songs to be written about them. Robbie Robertson wrote a bunch of songs about Indian myths since he was part Cherokee, I don't find songs about mythology, but rather interesting and cool.

And hey, I never dared to call Bob Dylan's lyrics cheesy. I love his songwriting.
Mr. Tambourine man has some of the best lyrics I have ever heard. IMO the lyrics are the only thing that make early Dylan worth listening to.

Speaking of Greek Mythology, Norse Mythology has some good songs with it too

lunch998 06-05-2005 06:17 PM

I like that whole album actually, and from what I've heard Freewheelin' is good too.

Badmoon 06-05-2005 06:25 PM

Albums I uploaded Today:

Violent Femmes - s/t
Rolling Stones - Let it Bleed
Calexico - The Black Light
Calexico - A Feast of Wire
Weezer - Pinkerton
The Smiths - The Queen is Dead

Now I can spend my weekly pay on drugs and anything other than CD's. ;)

jpj 06-05-2005 07:17 PM

I got Hot Rats and all the Shut Up 'n Play Yer Guitars, and they are both awesome.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 06-05-2005 07:22 PM

What does Shut Up 'n Play Yer Guitars sound like?

Pulp Fiction (the greatest movie of all time) is on Spike.

So far it seems pretty jazz/fusion like. It kinda reminds me of Mahavishnu Orchestra.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 06-05-2005 07:32 PM
