There's nothing wrong with a little metal. Although a good percentage of it is crap ;)
I love my Sabbath but thats as far as I go. I like Maiden too! |
I like metal AND classic rock :)

Me too. |
I'm not a big metal fan personally.
I love my Sabbath but thats as far as I go.
I like Maiden too!
That's how I am too. I love listening to Maiden, and especially Sabbath. I don't mind a lot of metal, but some of it I don't like. I did mushrooms last night, it was an insane night. My friend started tripping about twenty minutes or half an hour before me, so I was about to eat some more. As he handed me the bag, I just started tripping so hard I couldn't even hold the bag. I sat on a rock and for about twenty minutes I couldn't tell whether my eyes were open or closed (whether they were open or closed I was just seeing pure nonsense). It started raining really hard, and my friends came and drove us around. Apparently I said I was hungry, and someone gave me a handburger, which I squished up in my hands, and smeared all over my face and clothes (still not sure why). Once I came down a little (still tripping though) I reached my favourite point, where you just feel so damn excited about everything. We basically drove around for the rest of the night I found it hard to sit up in the back of the van, I kept trying to swim around. It was such a fun night, we went to a Tim Hortons and stayed there for an hour, I really had to go to the bathroom but I couldn't stop laughing everything I tried to pee because the bathroom honestly wouldn't stay still, everything was swirling and bubbling and everything kept moving around. There were a bunch of teenagers in there, and the only guy working was cool with me and my other friend (who was also tripping) just acting like complete goofs. There were some adults in there who just thought I was drunk, so they didn't care they just laughed at how messy I got from that darn hamburger. Awesome night. |
 Good story
Maiden, I hate Maiden. |
Maiden is teh secks.
And it certainly sounds like you had a good time, thick. |
 Good story
Maiden, I hate Maiden.
How come you don't like Maiden? The main thing I don't like about most metal, is the vocals (screaming and growling and all that stuff doesn't appeal to me)...and I honestly think Iron Maiden has probably some of the best vocals I've ever heard. |
The music is so cheesy too me.
"Run to the Hills!! Run for your life!!" (If that's how it goes) ^I hate those lyrics. Anthrax, there's a Metal band I can respect. |
 Good story
Maiden, I hate Maiden.
Why do you hate Maiden? I mean unlike alot of Metal bands you can understand the vocals, they don't overdistort their instermentals, and their basslines are more then just the root down on the B sting. Unless your saying you hate the untire metal genre. Listen to "The Trooper" for some good Maiden. |

I don't mind their lyrics, I think they were really the ones who started that whole "mysterious magical forest blah blah blah" type of lyrics that a lot of metal bands have. I actually really like lyrics like that. Stuff about dragons and the like. I haven't heard a whole lot from Anthrax, I'm not sure whether or not I like them. What's everyone's favourite Steppenwolf song? Last night they were play a lot of Steppenwolf, and it was awesome. I felt like I was back in the sixties just out for a groovy night on the town. I remember seeing a cop car, and thinking I should act normal...so I unrolled the window and sang "yellow chimpanzee banana" a couple times with an odd melody to it. |

black sabbath and deep purple are as heavy as I go, also maiden and some of the prog metal stuff. Though prog metal gets preety boring after a while
|
Maiden and Sabbath I all really like....my favorite metal though is 80s Metallica....songs like Sanitarium and Fade to Black are killer.
On a more classic rock note, I've rarely heard any Steppenwolfe outside of Born to be Wild and Magic Carpet Ride. However, on Easy Rider, the first song, i think it was called "Pusher", that was kickass, one of the coolest songs I have ever heard. EDIT: Oh yeah, ^^^ Deep Purple. One of my 5 favorite bands, absolutly killer. I guess they can be considered metal to a degree, but usually when I think metal I think NWOBHM and further (Iron Maiden on). |
yeah deep purple wasnt dark enough to be called "metal" but they sure had a huge influence on the genre
|
Lunch sent me a DP Greatest Hits the other day, it's good. I wouldn't consider them heavy metal at all, they kind of sounded like arena rock Who mixed heavier music like Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath. I'd say DP is about as heavy as I go, as I can't stand the screaming and growling singing.

They have tons of good songs though, Hey Lawdy Mama is one of my favourite songs by them. Another great one is Rock Me. I've got two of their albums (Live 1970 and For Ladies Only) They are both really good albums. I'd post some songs but I don't have any of their songs on my computer, they are all on vinyl. edit- If anyone wants to download a song, I'd suggest Rock Me. You've probably heard it before, but it's still not as well known as their other songs. It's amazing though. |
I just picked up MMT and The Doors Live in Europe 1968 at the wonderful place that is Wal-Mart.

Depends on what era you are talking about, thats what they sounded like in their 80s reuninon, and maybe in some of their 70s stuff, but most of their early 70s stuff is preety heavy stuff for the time. |
Oh, and Deep Purple kicks ass. I really need to pick one of their albums up.

The Live in Europe DVD is awesome, I just wish it were longer than an hour. |

I don't have any idea what I'm talking about, it's a greatest hits so I don't know what year the songs were released. Some songs sounded heavy, and I think 2-3 had some screaming in the background, but a lot of the other stuff wasn't as heavy as I'd expected. It seemed like hard rock rather than metal to me. |

I wish I had a Wal-Mart :upset:. |

You don't have a Wal-Mart? Where the hell do you live? |
I live right outside NYC. We have CVS and A&P instead.
