Haha, what for?

PaulSimonon 10-28-2006 08:19 PM

Sneaking out of my house to chill with the lady friend.

One Groovin Clown 10-28-2006 08:21 PM

Boo, that sucks.

My lady friend has over the top parents.

She still has a bed time... :/

The Brad 10-28-2006 08:25 PM

Meh, that's not so bad.

One Groovin Clown 10-28-2006 08:30 PM

It does when it's 10 oclock.

Either way, we see each other alot anyhow so it's not bad.

Actually, her mom is a professor at my University.
Do they sell KTM Enduros in Ausland?
... i have no idea what that is

Az_Holl 10-28-2006 09:33 PM

Ah, well i dont know, but you dont need a motorbike over here. Or a car for that matter.

All new residents to Australia are presented with a kangaroo upon entry. You simple sit in the pouch, tell the kangaroo where to go, and your set.

Hey.

For real? I wish America was like that. :upset:

Az_Holl 10-28-2006 10:04 PM

Fo realz.

All they give you when you reach America is a cavity search.

PaulSimonon 10-28-2006 10:05 PM

Don't forget the coca cola, apple pie, lard, and blue jeans.

Az_Holl 10-28-2006 10:07 PM

Is it warm apple pie? It damn well better be.

PietroCrespi 10-28-2006 10:09 PM

The only lard I got was our vice president.

One Groovin Clown 10-28-2006 10:09 PM

It's warm cause he recently had sex with it.

Akira's Conklin is beautiful, nice grab.

I love it. I still can't believe I found it at GC. And I feel really lucky - I saw it yesterday but didn't go get it today. I am so glad no one bought it.

PietroCrespi 10-28-2006 10:11 PM

How is it tuned?

BEADGCF

PaulSimonon 10-28-2006 10:17 PM

They've had a lefty one come through there a few times, but I didn't see that one in there.

Akira 10-28-2006 10:20 PM

I don't think I've seen one there before. They also had a used Line 6 Variax, which would have been awesome if it worked right. For some reason they only had like two sixers in the whole store though.
I feel like such a bad bassist because I know I am going to spend like all my time in the high strings and neglect the low stuff.

One Groovin Clown 10-28-2006 10:22 PM

Don't see yourself as a bassist then.
Musician :p

I'm excited for my 6 to get here.

That's a pretty lucky score, even if I had the chance, I don't think i'd buy a 7+.

Maybe that will change once I get used to my 6.

I actually don't consider myself a bassist at all really. I mean I like to play bass lines, but I like to play melodies too. I play bass because I like the feel, and really the timbre too, but I don't subscribe to the common idea of a bassist's role.

One Groovin Clown 10-28-2006 10:28 PM

Band wise I do.

I do my roots, I do my lines. Whatever creativly fits.

When I'm at home, I take more of a experimental side.
Effects, weird riffs, stuff from the heart really.

Yeah. In a band I play like a more typical bassist, just because that is what works.

I can't over how weird my four feels. I pick it up and the neck looks like an inch wide. It's creepy.

EADGCFB#?

One Groovin Clown 10-28-2006 10:31 PM

I bet the Conklin neck is almost 2.5 times the size?

Akira 10-28-2006 10:33 PM
EADGCFB#?
I might try it sometime.

PaulSimonon 10-28-2006 10:33 PM

If I had that I'd tune it CFBbEbAbDbGb with the C being between the normal low B and the E.

PaulSimonon 10-28-2006 10:36 PM

Or DADF#BEA. But that would be for a 7 string acoustic guitar...

Akira 10-28-2006 10:36 PM
I bet the Conklin neck is almost 2.5 times the size?
My ruler says the OLP is 1.5" at the nut and the Conklin is 2.5" at the nut. I might just be tired and measuring stupid.

One Groovin Clown 10-28-2006 10:37 PM

An extra inch wider?

How does it feel in your hand?
Do you find it's easy to get accostomed to?

PaulSimonon 10-28-2006 10:37 PM

Sounds right on the OLP, probably spot on or within a few 16ths of an inch.

Dunno the measurements on the GT, but that's about right.

Akira 10-28-2006 10:38 PM

I will probably keep it standard. I considered before I found this getting a six tuned tenor, but the problem with that is I would probably end of missing the B even though I wouldn't use it a ton.

PaulSimonon 10-28-2006 10:40 PM

Yeah, that's how I am... I'd barely ever use a B if I had one. A C on the other hand....

But I've been reduced to a guitar player mostly now that I've got my fine lady around. Not to mention that the human lady in my life takes up some time too...

It's pretty massive. I definitely won't have to worry about my hand grabbing the neck like a baseball bat.

That said, I have very long fingers, so it's not bad. I can do a 1-5 stretch on the low B. It's going to take some time for my wrist to adjust though.

Akira 10-28-2006 10:41 PM

I can't play guitar. I've tried, but it just is totally unappealing to me. The strings are too small and close together. Plus I like the timbre of bass better.

One Groovin Clown 10-28-2006 10:44 PM

Guitar is unappealing to me as well. The higher frequecies bug me.

All i can do is power chords
