Someone recommend me some music like Candlemass' Epicus Doomicus Metalicus.
|
Isole - Forevermore
Cathedral - The Ethereal Mirror Those two should do you good, especially the first. One of the best modern doom bands around today. |
^ Candlemass - Candlemass :p
I also highly reccomend Slough Feg - Atavism to all fans of any genre of music. They're just plain awesome. |

They're very similar to Candlemass, I believe. |
What genre are they?
Progressive metal, but they don't sound like anything else that I've heard. |
What genre are they?
Hard to say. Progressive Folk metal? But they don't sound like anything else I've heard, you have to hear them for yourself. |
I'm listening to a song on their Myspace now. I'm not sure if I like it or not. It's certainly different.
|
The mighty Slough Feg? Traditional metal with doom and folk influences. Atavism is a good album but not as good as previous releases.
|
If you like Epicus, get Nightfall. If you like those get the first 3 Solitude Aeturnus albums and Solstice - New Dark Age.
|
I'm really digging Slough Feg! This rules. Perhaps I should have been listening to Steerpike this whole time.
|
Slough Feg is awesome.

No problem. I also added Juads Priest's Painkiller and Angel of Retribution and Iron Maiden's Powerslave. All must have albums for any metal fan. |

Mastodon, Megadeth, Anthrax, Machine Head, Kreator, Sodom, Sadus, Electric Wizard, Dillinger Escape Plan, Annihilator, Exodus. If you really want some heavy stuff, then you should hear some death metal and ignore Power Metal. Death Metal:Carcass, Obituary, Entombed, Cryptopsy, Necrophagist, Atheist, Cynic, Brujeria, Death, Origin. |
The Black Dalhia Murder might be a very good bridge for him into real death metal.

Can someone recommend me something along the lines of Karnivool? Meaning just the right mix of groove, melody and proficient vocals. Danke in advance.
|
Someone recommend me some really slow, depressing minimalistic music.

Jesu? Or is drone not what you're looking for? |
Can someone recommend me something along the lines of Karnivool? Meaning just the right mix of groove, melody and proficient vocals. Danke in advance.
It is HARD to match Karnivool. But I'd recommend: Spiritual Beggars Pain of Salvation Muse Ozric Tentacles Neurosis Sonic Youth The Sword newer Vintersorg Again, none of this really sound a LOT like Karnivool. But they're similar to a point. |
Yeah, that's about as diverse as I'd expect. I've heard all those except Spritual Beggers and the Sword. Sonic Youth pisses me off. Thanks a lot though.

The first disc is a masterpiece. The second can be a bit hard to listen to all the way through, but I've done it on a few occasions.
|
I don't have the time to listen to them anymore
Damn 3 hour soccer practices  |
I usually listen to bits off the 1st disc. I think i have never listened to any of the discs all the way
