Yeah, it's about melodic as Slayer gets. Check out the title track.

I just listened to South of Heaven, Angel of Death and Raining Blood...not really that melodic to me...just not my type... |
You might like Spill the Blood, it's pretty slow, and about as melodic as Slayer got. It's on south of Heaven.
|
pffft who needs melody anyway
|
Slayer certainly don"t.
my computer keeps popping up the word search function everytime I hit an apostrophe... |
I've said it before and i'll say it again: they should make HTC and Hell awaits one album, the production is the same so they all sound like there on the same CD.
I'm really getting into Show No mercy now, i never really listened to it before because i found 'Evil has no boundaries' a little cheesy tbh. But 'The anti-christ' and 'Black magic' have gotta be some of my favourite Slayer songs. |
Is South of Heaven, Angel of Death and Raining Blood anyone of their heavier songs?
|
Angel of Death is arguably there heaviest song. Well it depends what you mean by heavier, because some people would class 'Disciple', 'New faith' etc and other GHUA songs as there heaviest work.
|
uhh, Angel of Death isnt really VERY heavy to me, but yea, different people have different opinions
|
Wow
|
Yeah, but I never understood why they always chose to play that song live over some of the other SOH songs. Spill The Blood especially.
Ghosts of War is my second favorite song by Slayer. Right behind Crypts of Eternity. Those bastards never play either of those anymore  |
MANDATORY SUICIDE!!!! that song is gold
I didn't realize it until someone pointed it out to me but alot of the song sounds like For Whom The Bell Tolls. Great song though. |

For me their heaviest would have to be Raining Blood and Dittohead. |
AoD is definitely heaviest.
Also, say no to melody. |
Heaviest....hmmm...I'd say At Dawn they Sleep
|
^No way. Thrash wise, it's AoD, ditto head and raining blood. Newer heavy it's gotta be Disciple.
|
Nah, "Christ Illusion" is pretty good. Pretty damn good, actually. It isn't the best they've ever done, but it's easily the best since "Seasons in the Abyss".

Christ Illusion is terrible. Have you read the lyrics? I found them the other day and thought... fukkkkk! I wrote better crap when I was a little kid.
Cult is good. Rest is awful. |
Slayers lyrics have been foolish in the past, but im more focused on the intense crazy music they play together
|
On Hell Awaits the lyrics were plain evil. Not goofy like this new crap
|
thats true, guess its a new trend for them starting with GHUA but maybe they r makin an atempt to write some preety crazy lyrics, like how metallica tried going back to their roots on st.anger, just not working.
|
...the lyrics to the new album are abit... ...foolish...
|
On Hell Awaits the lyrics were plain evil. Not goofy like this new crap
Actually, I feel the opposite. The lyrics were incredibly cheesy on 'Hell Awaits' I thought. But I'd take songs (riff wise and such) like 'At Dawn They Sleep' or the title track over anything on 'Christ Illusion'...except maybe 'Flesh Storm'...that song is great...but yea... I thought the lyrics on 'CI' were some of the best 'Slayer' had done so far...except for 'Catalyst'...ew |
Only lyric I enjoy from new Slayer is "New Faith"
|

I completely agree. Holy man open up your eyes To the ways of the world you've been so blind. As the walls of religion come crashing down How's the ignorance taste the second time around. :metuhl: |

Slayer lyrics are always a bit...foolish. |
I completely agree.

One of the few Slayer lyrics I actually love. It's so true. I'd rep you, but it won't let me. I did yesterday or the day before and haven't repped enough since. |
I always thought the lyrics for Haunting the Chapel (Song) were pretty awesome. They had some really unique ideas for evil lyrics back in the day. Far more abstract than Venom or Exodus.
|
I don't think any of Slayer's lyrics are "foolish" They're just really demonic. I don't think it really renders them silly.

When you don't believe what you sing it does. |
A lot of bands don't believe what they sing. And Tom's not even Catholic, his Father's Roman Catholic and all that Tom says is the religion will remain in his heart. He doesn't follow Catholic dogma, either.

Cult is good. Rest is awful.
The music is great though imo. And yeah shudder @ Catalyst: "Hail Satan" ugh. |
I wrote a song about an Episode of Ghost in the Shell, where this guy takes young girls into his lair in the sewers and skins them alive. I don't believe in doing that. So are they lame lyrics?
|
I liked Catalyst. It made me laugh instead of tear my ears off.
hail satan! |

Nope. I was talking more about religious/anti religion lyrics. Since it's such a strong subject. haha. If I had it, I'd be in a brutal death/grind type band. I'd write sicker lyrics than CC has ever done or could dream of. Like: Gore/Dismemberment Rape/Abuse/ Violent/Killing/Torture I would do vivid descriptions and paint a picture. No general themes. It'd paint an exact mental picture of the horrid stuff. Do I endorse ^^ that stuff? Hell no. It's great to write lyrics with though. |
I'd say that At Dawn They Sleep is their heaviest...
|
It's funny how you all chuckle at Catalyst for the hail satan part.
oh but it's cool on Altar of Sacrifice, right? |
I'd say that At Dawn They Sleep is their heaviest...
Man, I'd expect you to be in bed by now. Oh yeah, no work. |

That's exactly what I said at the top of the last page. :thumb: |

**** no I just got home right now from a 12 hour metal fest.. and it's 2 days long, I'm going back tomorrow, in like 9 hours... lol. But today I met all of the 1986 line up of Helstar, I met Cage, and ****ing Neil Turbin. Also I saw Juan Garcia of Agent Steel, but before I could meet him he took off, oh well I'll see him when I go back.
That's exactly what I said at the top of the last page. :thumb:
\m/ My favorite Slayer song. KILL! KILL! KILL! KILL! KILL! |
