I got Pulse yesterday.. it's great.
|
Does anyone have news on when the Pulse DVD is coming out? I have been waiting for years for that thing to pop up.
|
I have no idea.. I hope it's soon though
|
I need to get the CD first
|
It was supposed to come out sometime between February and March. Then they said, June, then August, now their saying sometime between October and November.
But one of these days.. we'll be able to get our hands on one. |
Yeah, I hear they are gonna add a whole lotta stuff to it, so I am happy waiting.
|
I've been listening to Animals a lot lately. I think I've finally understood it's appeal!
Anyways, still love Wish You Were Here and it will be my favourite Pink Floyd album for a while. |
Upload it!
BTW, "Is There Anybody Out There?" is a really cool song to play. You should all learn it!
Yes! First song, well... first full song I learned. Well.. still learning. Very fun, kinda a stretch with your pinky to play it... but sounds good, and impresses people. |
Is There Anybody Out There is awesome. One of my favorite tracks off The Wall.
|
I leanred it a while ago...good for me starting on acoustic a while back, and appregos and all that stuff. I find the closing chord the hardest since its up an octave, but i think the guitar i have makes it difficult, not necessarily the chord

I had another one of those "holy shit" moments last night. It was like 1:30 AM and I couldn't sleep, so I was listening to The Wall disc 2. Understand I've heard this album at least 20 times all the way through by now (no exaggeration). Anyway, Nobody Home came on, which is one of my favorite songs ever. If you listen, throughout most of the first half of the album a TV is playing in the background (you understand if you've seen the movie) Then near the end of the song, after he sings "oooooooh, baby, when I pick up the phone" and before he sings "there'll be nobody home", I could hear a guy on the TV saying "SUSPRISE, SUSPRISE SUSPRISE!" I'd never heard it before, but it was amazingly clear and I couldn't believe I had mised it all those times. It made my heart skip a beat just hearing that guy's voice out of nowhere. I think that is truly the greatest thing about Pink Floyd; the more times you've heard it, the better.

You know that there is a hidden message... In Empty Spaces if you play it backwards it says "you have found the secret message." LINK: http://www3.telus.net/jefmil/stairwaybackwards.htm And check out the slim shady one. Its the only other one that might be intentional |

I tried it myself, and it was intentionally put in there...pretty interesting if anybody cares to do it (soundrecorder works fine too, comes with about all Windows computers). Somethin about 'congratulations, you found the secret message...the funny farm...' and some other junk. Its hard to hear over the backround noise though. |

And check out the slim shady one. Its the only other one that might be intentional
yeah, I remember doing that on my computer with Sound Recorder, I played The Wall with iTunes (no I dont have an iPod, but iTunes is good as a music player), and as it played through the speaker, i put a mic in front of the speaker and recorded it with Windows ****ing Sound Recorder, then played it backwards. I'm so ****ing ghetto when it comes to hardware for my computer  Anyone that hasn't done it should, i won't give it away (btw, you can hear it end right before he starts actually singing, so if you play it backwards it will start after he stops singing) EDIT: By the way, it took them that long to find it (1-2 years)? When i first heard the song I could tell someone was saying something backwards, I just was too lazy to check for a while. |
Well, in 1979, it wasn't so clear. I mean, now we have the technology to easily reverse a recording, so we recognize the sound of backwards vocals. Back then, I would imagine it wasn't easy to reverse, so the backwards singing would just sound like jibberish until someone reversed it.
|
The last time I was listening to The Wall in the dark when I was falling asleep, I heard the heavy breathing on "Don't Leave Me Now" and it freaked me out. I thought there was somebody in the room or something.
I like stuff like that :p |

It's very true. I'm listening to The Wall right now. |

There is a backwords message on the Empty Spaces it says "Welcome you have found the backwords message on the Wall...." or somthing like that. |
The secret message is:
'Congratulations. You have just discovered the secret message. Please send your answer to old pink, care of the funny farm. Chalfont.' |
You guys missed the real kicker that makes it hilarious, after he says Chalfont, he's about to start talking again, and then in the back ground, very faintly, you can hear someone say "Roger, Caroline's on the phone" and then he says "Oh" and it cuts off.

That's true. I remember when I was real little (I mean like 7), I remember riding in the car with my dad and him telling me about the Beatles, and how there was a rumor 'back in the day' that one of the songs played backwards said 'Paul is dead', beacue he was the only one barefoot on Abbey Road and stuff, and he said that noone could check it because only really expensive record players could go backwards. I remember thinking that was the coolest thing ever. |

that is pretty cool...i wonder who took the time to do that? |
Im going to cry
I cant find my DSOTM CD!!!! :'( |
that sucks
|
I listened to Dark Side the other night after not listening to it for awhile. It was quite an experience, as you would think.
|
Im still in dire need of getting the approiate effects for that album. Hows Rick get that effect on Any Colour You Like on his keyboards...does he got a Delay running through that Or is he playing it how it sounds?
|
I lost my DSOTM CD a year ago, I still can't find it.
Yay.. this is my 4th post in the Pink Floyd thread  |
I have no idea where mine is, Pulse replaced Dark Side of the Moon for me, and my new 1973 bootleg has replaced Pulse.
|
I just got Pulse and I've been listening to that alot
|

I'm pretty sure it is a slight delay. I can sort of pick it, and he is using a tone, but I'm not sure what it is emulating... |

A 1973 bootleg of them playing DSOTM live? |
I need to get some Pink Floyd bootlegs. Unfortunately, I live in a shitty suburb, so I can't get hold of any good CD's without doing a lot of driving.

http://www3.telus.net/jefmil/stairwaybackwards.htm
incase you didnt check this site, well do it, and they have the beatles one somone was mentioning |
A 1973 bootleg of them playing DSOTM live?
Yeah its really good. Disk One is Obscured by Clouds (bout 5 min) When You're In (9+min) Set The Controls For The Heart of the Sun (11min+) Careful With That Axe Eugene (16+min) Echoes, best version I've ever heard )23+ min). Disk Two is all of Dark Side of the Moon and One of These Days. The only problem is the bass over powers some of the instruments, but if you just turn the bass down on whatever you listening to it on it is no problem at all. |
Where can I get it, I've heard all about it but can't find it anywhere, but then again I probably need to get Pulse first.
