Has there been any OFFICIAL word on a new Tool album?
|
I dont know about the new album they said they were gonna go heavier (which is good) but im hoping they keep the intelligent songwriting aswell
im also hoping that the new cd becomes heavier but keep the songwriting from lateralus or aenima, although the lyrics from undertow and opiate arent bad, but i prefer lateralus and aenima |
No release date has been set, so beyond the fact that we know for a fact they are working on it, no, we haven't heard anything official on it, I think I'm right in saying, although it's pretty much accepted as true it'll be out this year. I don't know if even that's been confirmed though.
this is the first post of yours i've read for a while without downloading some awesome music off a link in one. I demand you sort this  |
I think the new album is planned for june but will be pushed backa month or two
|
the albums always have initial release dates that are way too early. i bet it wont be out until early 2006 (janruary is my guess), if its true that they just resently went into the studio. i would imagine there is quite a while of production, mixing, and mastering that go into a tool album
|
I'm guessing November or December.
|
I'm going to be an optimist and say before fall swings around.
|
I'm guessing November or December.
This probably isn't too inaccurate. While it's hard to really get a good guess (and that's all we have at the moment--guessing), I think late this year will be the ticket. Summer would be awesome, though. Although I've heard that they're not doing the usual routine (write/rehearse/demo, record, mix, master) and instead writing a song, recording it, repeat. If this is true then I'd imagine it would be sooner than the former. |
Also keep in mind that when MJK was touring with APC that the other band members were already starting on the album.

Have your radiostations been playing A LOT of Tool lately? I remember they played a lot of Tool from '02-'03 obviously from Lateralus. BUt then after that, it was pretty rare. But in the last month, I've heard a BUNCH of different Tool songs. Or at least a lot more than usual: H., Lateralus, Schism, Sober(mainly), Stinkfist, and Ænema.
|
Tool rarely gets played on my radio stations here. Aside from the occasional Sober or Schism play, I don't think I've ever heard them.
However, one time when I went on a car trip from Houston to New Jersey, in three major cities along the way I heard stations playing Tool songs, and a lot of other good stuff too. The main song they played was Ænema. In conclusion, the radio where I live sucks. Everytime I go to a different city there's what seems like great radio compared to my usual. No big loss for me, though, I rarely listen to it. |
I've only ever heard Tool on the radio one time. They played Schism. I don't ever recall hearing them beyond that. What a sad world we live in.
|
I actually got into Tool after hearing Schism on the radio. It was a freak chance, I guess, and a good one. I remember thinking, "Now this is a really weird, cool song." I went home and downloaded it along with Sober and loved it.

Where could I find some of Hicks' material?
|
amen to that
I swear, man. Ticks and Leeches is listed as 8:10 but definitely seems about 3 minutes long.
|
Yeah, dissectional is pretty awesome, Maynards Dick is pretty sweet game...but I cant get past level one...
game...? why didnt i know about this? link plz |
Where could I find some of Hicks' material?
Some tool fan sites have his material, If i find a link ill post it. |
I dont listen to the radio and they wouldnt play it on the radio anyway (no alternative or rock stations) its all about TV here ive seen all there videos aside from hush really on mtv2 from time to time
|
My radio station plays Aenema all the time, Thats about it for tool though.
|
The only Tool song I ever really hear on the radio is Schism.
|
I hear Tool on the radio all the time.
I voted for Mr. Jones :thumb: |

I first heard of them when I was watching MTV (back when they played some good music videos) in '99 or '00. And I saw the video for Sober. I liked the song and the video, but then I forgot the band name and the song title. I saw it again a few weeks later, and bought Undertow. And if all I heard was Schism, I wouldn't have gotten into them. I really wasn't impressed with that song when it came out. Edit: Actually, the problem with Schism was probably that it was overplayed. LOL, yeah, I said it. |
Very nice thread. I've been a major Tool fan for almost 10 years, and like other bands that I LOVE (like Radiohead), they've only improved as they've evolved as a group. It's amazing to listen to Opiate - Lateralus: you practically feel like you're listening to a whole different band.

I still do like that song, luckily it wasn't overplayed for me. I think another reason I might have overlooked is that I saw some guy at school wearing a Tool t-shirt, and the artwork on it really intrigued me. I forgot about them for a week or so and that's when I heard Schism on the radio and was impressed by it. |
I agree with In Chains. When Schism became a single it was very overplayed. Now that I haven't heard it in awhile though, it's a very good listen.
|
It seems any person that dosent know anything about tool or know any of there songs will recite "i know the pieces fit".
|
Over here (The UK), i'm fairly sure 99.9% of people don't know who Tool are. At my school, i've only heard one other person mention them, he's an APC fan and dosn't like/hasn't actually heard much Tool stuff.
I've never heard them on the radio or on music TV channels over here. This could be due to not listening to the radio too much and me being into Tool since 2002 onwards (Prison Sex was the only song I actually knew by them back then tho, I think a friend recommanded it while I was listening to some nu-metal crap), so maybe I wasn't aware when Tool's influence was the biggest, even so... Very obscure band over here. |
My first experience with Tool was hearing Schism (although I didn't realize that it was Tool at the time). I found out it was by Tool later and soon afterwards heard Sober as well.
I only really got into them after I heard Stinkfist (or "Track #1" as MTV2 so gracefully refers to it). I bought Ænima soon after and fell in love with it, then bought Lateralus off of a friend not too long after that. Undertow soon followed. Still don't have Opiate or Salival though.... |

my first tool experience was Schism too, that song had turned many people towards a great band,
|
I personnaly heard stinkfist first and didnt mind it but then i heard sober and i said i would check them out i kinda didnt like them at first but i started really liking them from listens
|
in the place where I go out, they rarely play it.
sometimes, after a lot of begging, they play sober, but that's it. I would really like te dance to ticks and leeches or the grudge. and on radio, they never play Tool, so I never listen to radio, except some occasional classic rock channel |

Really? I'll keep an eye out. :thumb: I tend to watch Kerrang and Scuzz if I watch music TV, I suppose. |
Kerrang is probably the worst music channel there is now its so horrible ive seen a video on scuzz before but only once scuzz is alright for some stuff but the headbangers ball on mtv2 (use to be on at 1) use to show deadly death metal bands and the occasional tool video aswell best show on

Saturday nights are awesome on mTV2 now. Tool videos, APC videos, old school black metal (man that sounded lame), and newest decent stuff. But its on from 1am till 3, so its hard to be sober/awake for it. |

And adding to Too on TV, I remember when Parabola was first released, MTV2 played it back to back for an hour, just repeating. Nice treat |
