Bright Eyes and Neutral Milk Hotel: The pinnacle of musical enjoyment?

Iai 04-14-2005 05:46 PM

I'd probably enjoy Bright Eyes if he didn't record his vocals while sat in the world's coldest room.

Luxor 04-14-2005 07:27 PM

NMH >>>>>>>> Bright Eyes

Doctor D. 04-14-2005 08:14 PM

So far for the week

Architecture In Hellsinki - In Case We Die
Primus - Frizzle Fry
The Residents - Animal Lover
The Residents/Renaldo and The Loaf - Title In Limbo
Bright Eyes - Digital Ash In a Digital Urn (Finally found somthing I dig from this guy)
+\- - You Are Here
Gorilaz - Demon Days
Opio - Triangulation Station

YDload 04-14-2005 08:47 PM

Frizzle Fry is a great album. Do you have the version with the Residents covers at the end? I was just wondering, since you mentioned that band as well.

Nope, but I've heard it before. If it weren't for that cover I'd never know who the Residents are.

Gorillaz - Demon Days

CraigoMac 04-15-2005 11:06 AM

I've been listening to an awful lot of the Pixies lately.

Songs I definetly recommend you check out are "Where Is My Mind" and "Here Comes your Man".

Luxor 04-16-2005 10:20 AM

What Roots album should I get?

Zappa 04-16-2005 10:49 AM

I haven't heard anything by the Roots that I could recommend. I would suggest staying away from Illadelph Halflife. I also have Do You Want More?!?!kjio1j./;kd, but I never gave it much of a chance.

Swami 04-16-2005 07:24 PM

Ghost
Hot Snakes (my Peel Sessions 7" arrived, huzzah!)
Queens of the Stone Age (who?)

I saw the Sahara Hotnights a few nights ago. They were surprisingly good.

Happymeal 04-16-2005 08:27 PM

Maudlin of the Well - Bath
Black Eyes - Cough(thanks WRM)
Adrian Belew - Side One

and half of The Glow, Pt. 2 by The Microphones. It has piqued my interest so far. I'm going to see if it's worth all the raving it's gotten.
Ghost
They don't happen to be Japanese, do they?

Swami 04-16-2005 08:43 PM

Yep, thats them.

They put TMV to shame.

Prison Bound 04-16-2005 09:54 PM

Powderfinger are terrible. BLAND.BLAND.BLAND.

CarnageFairy 04-16-2005 10:19 PM

Gorillaz - Demon Days
Yeah, same here. I like it a lot.

I actually didn't realize it wasn't out yet until like a week after I got it.

Swami 04-16-2005 10:59 PM

Just listen to Dalek instead.

Swami 04-17-2005 12:28 AM

I'm listening to I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning.

It's surpisingly good. Congratulations Conor, you're not such a weenie after all.

br3ad_man 04-17-2005 12:39 AM
yes you are wrong, im sorry
I know you are but what am I?
Maudlin of the Well - Bath
Cool

I've been mainly listening to Talking Heads.

Doctor D. 04-17-2005 12:59 AM

Saw a pretty kick ass concert. Todd Rundgren, Joe Jackson, and a string quartet Ethel. They all played sperate set. Joe Jackson was alone behind a piano, and Todd switched between acoustic guitar and piano. Then at the end they all performed at the same time and closed the night with an amazing rendition of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps".

Joe Jackson? You mean the [abusive] father of the Jackson children? Michael, Janet, Jermaine, Tito and the like?

Swami 04-17-2005 01:18 AM

No, it won't be that Joe Jackson.

It'll be singer/songwriter Joe Jackson. He's cool.

YDload 04-17-2005 01:20 AM

Well he's only the second-coolest Joe Jackson there is, because he's not even remotely responsible for creating the greatest pop music star/media circus attraction the world has ever known.

Ghost are incredible.

br3ad_man 04-17-2005 02:01 AM

I haven't been able to find any Ghost anywhere since Tangy told me about them a couple of months ago.

ATM 04-17-2005 02:08 AM

Want me to upload something later?

br3ad_man 04-17-2005 02:17 AM

yeah ok
What Roots album should I get?
Things Fall Apart is a fairly difficult album to get into, but it's a rewarding listen if you give it the time.

Phrenology is the album you should get first.

Anti-Prefix 04-17-2005 07:48 AM

Flux Of Pink Indians

I've been listening to a lot of them, especially "Strive To Survive Causing Least Suffering Possible."

It's an awesome album and if you're interested some songs to check out are:

They Lie We Die
Progress
Life We Make It
Some Of Us Scream, Some Of Us Shout
Punk
Sick Butchers

Also, I did a band profile of theirs in the punk forum so if you want more information on them (which is relatively difficult to find, check it out)
Joe Jackson? You mean the [abusive] father of the Jackson children? Michael, Janet, Jermaine, Tito and the like?
No, but now I kinda wish it was.

Prison Bound 04-17-2005 10:22 AM

Been listening to Crimes by Blood Brothers, Commercial Suicide by Nailbomb and some Millions of Dead Cops and GZA's 'Liquid Swords'. That record is totally ill.

Electrocution 04-17-2005 10:35 AM

I went to Best Buy to look at video cameras yesterday and ended up buying Crimes. Will power is fun.
