It's alright, and see what this nutjob had to say. |
A night full of joys and dissapointments. The night started off pretty bad. They are touring with Los Lonely Boys, who I think are great. I would go to a concert just to see them. But for some reason, they were unable to play. So they got some other crappy warm up band called the Bottle Rockets. So finally, The Allman Brothers came on. They started off with Stateboro Blues and One Way Out. I thought it was going great. Then, the next 5 or so songs were all newer. Now don't get me wrong, I thought the playing was great, everything sounded so beautiful, and all that, but I was there to hear the classics. The second half of the concert started off with Midnight Rider, so I thought we were back on track, but they just played some more newer songs. The encore was Melissa. I was slighty pissed that they didn't play Whipping Post, Jessica, Hot Lanta, or Elizabeth Reed, but I understood that they weren't just playing for me. Overall, it was an incredible experience and one of the best concerts I have ever attended, but I can only think that it could have been sooo much better.
Sounds great. I'm going to deep purple and thin lizzy :D (who aren't as good as the allman brothers :(). uhh yeah. good review :D |
Wish I was born in 1958 :upset: . Then i would be old enough to go to all these sweet bands it their prime.-The Allmans,Zeppelin ,Floyd ,Hendrix think of the possiblitities :smoke:
The Traveling Wilburys anyone?
Must say, I like their stuff. I have the first CD, and might be interested in getting the 2nd if I could ever find it. EDIT: Also, I love Harrison's solo efforts. |
Okay, so... I was with my mommy at the mall (stfu) and there were at least 30 kids with Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Ac/dc etc.. shirts. my god! I mean I knew it had become trendy to like music from the 70s but this is just out of control.
I could out quiz all of those people on any of the bands that they wear on their shirts. I always hated the word poser, until now! |
What can people like us wear to not be posers.
Maybe lesser known band shirts. |
Classic rock is awsome especcially bands like AC/DC, Rolling Stones, The Who, The Guess Who (from my hometown), Alice Cooper. And Augest 30, Van halen is coming here which will kick ***.

Just change your username and you'll be appreciated here.

Bad vibes=that. He can like whatever he wants as long as he also likes classic rock :D |
Good Job!

Wow, that would make you the only person who is allowed to wear a shirt and like a band. Congrats :thumb: |
I also like wearing concert shirts because it actually shows your a true fan and not only buy the shirt because your classic rock loving friend(can't say i have any) listens to them.

The only people I know who wear zeppelin shirts are me and another guy but he's a real fan. But next year i'll know freaking 50 people who aren't fans but wear the shirts. |
^you should get Jeff Healey shirt i bet alot of people don't have those.
|
Because whether or not you have a t shirt proves whether or not you really like or know anything about the band.

Who was playing? Musician wise. |
Like what was there line up?
And another thing I forgot to mention. They were recording the concert. Live album maybe? |
Sweet :)
Yeah, the lineup. |
Greg, Warren, Butch Trucks and Jaimone on drums, I think his name is Marc Quiones on percussion, Derek Trucks(Butch's nephew), and Oteli Burbridge on bass. In the middle of the concert, Oteli just did this 10 minute bass solo thing. It was believe in or not one of the highlights of the concert. I think he is probably the best new member of ABB, meaning he is the only one who exceeds his predecessor in talent. Warren and Derek are great obviously, but nothing beats Dickey and Duane.

I went to buy some new shirts today, and I couldn't find one shirt that I hadn't already seen on some gay freshman last week. It was sickening. I'm ready for this trend to end. |

HEY! I'm a Freshman(prepares for flaming) |
Me too, but I rule :p
Nobody has my Gov't Mule shirt  |

Wonderful that's just what I was hoping you'd say. Speaking of Trucks, it's good to see a slide musician who actually has a reason why he's playing a slide (Other than just the twangy sound) and has adapted his style to it. |
wOOt, Ninth graders we rule so much, ok that's enough.
Anyways, I brought this up with no reply but what do you guys think of Emerson, Lake and Palmer? |
HEY!
I'm a Freshman(prepares for flaming)
But it sounds like you have a decent knowledge of classic rock. I'm talkin bout the freshmen who have the "Led Zeppelin USA" or whatever shirts. That gets real annoying. |
That really isn't common where I live.
Hey, decent knowledge! |
wOOt, Ninth graders we rule so much, ok that's enough.
Anyways, I brought this up with no reply but what do you guys think of Emerson, Lake and Palmer?
:D They're part of the Prog circle of three I made up. Which ELP, King Crimson, and Yes. Who I believe traded around a few musicians back in the day. |
We'll make a club. The ELPKCY fan club.
Edit: To long, nevermind :upset: |
I have an idea. Lets make a new list of who is the most knowledgable of the regulars in here. It would probably only be a top 10 though.
|
No, that'd make us angry and mad at each other.
|
Well, I guess its pretty obvious anyway
|
That would be somewhat demeaning.
|
Would I be in it?
Also, I'm really gettin into Yes more and more. Their music creates like an atmosphere when you listen, like man. Can't explain. Kinda like Floyd's more instrumental peices. I'm really into the long instrumental, psychadelic stuff. Close To the Edge is a great cd. |
^you should get Jeff Healey shirt i bet alot of people don't have those.
Sounds super-duper. I like the way you think. |
There's gotta be one in the world.
|
The only trendy t-shirts around where I live are really Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and maybe Floyd. (The same "Stairway to Heaven" Zeppelin noobs Woodstock and I were discussing in the LZ thread.) So I'm currently hunting for a Who t-shirt. While not a rare band people haven't heard of, they have very few t-shirts so wearing one usually means your a real fan. Maybe an Allman Brotheres t-shirt too.
|
An allman brother shirts, Jeff healey and possibly the doors would do nicely.
