Yes.

I've never been in anything remotely serious. It's lonely for me.
heh...i edited my post, it made me seem a bit perverted. and yes, being single does get lonely, but it gives me an excuse to flirt with a lot of girls.
Flirting gets old, sometimes depressing. It doesn't really help me to make sexual innuendos and jokes with girls knowing that it will never go any farther. I'd rather have one person that I can depend on than beeing free to say whatever I want to a world of people who don't care. |

but until i find that one person (ie. someone who actually feels the same way about me) i'm just gonna have to make do, i guess. i've only really had one serious relationship, it went on for about 3 months. i've been out with 1 person properly since then, and i was sort-of seeing another girl until recently. |
Question: is MX gone? Like tablature-wise? Is that aspect of the site going to shut down?
I just went to Taborama and their tabs have all been removed due to "possible copyright infringement," and the word is that the music industry is extending its legislation on music copyrights to include free tablature and transcription sites on the internet, saying that all owners of such sites should be jailed or fined. And now I can't connect to mxtabs at all. Is this a recent thing that's been talked about at all, or am I late on hearing about this? |
o shit I have to go. Im late for community service.
Be back later. |

Mx said that this could possibly pose a serious problem for the tabs site, but he's working on some kind of solution. Yes, I'm guilty of wanting to help out the community. Plus, its a high school graduation requirment for me. I cant even get onto MXtabs. |

Here's a story on the issue. This is just beyond ridiculous. |

It is. I don't know what mx could possibly do to get around this. It makes no sense to make somethinlike this illegal. Everything is original work and non-official. God forbid people should be able to post anything directly related to the music world on the internet. Soon every band name will be copyrighted.
Is copyrighted a word? |

I'm hoping they haven't shut down MX. If they have, a lot of us are fucked. Tab sites are where I first cut my teeth as guitarist. It's what most casual guitarists use to play the songs they love. If this does make it into legislation, I'd distribute free tabs and sheet music of all my original compositions as my own small way of beating the system. |
I'd start volunteering my services more. I have a transcribing program for my computer, so if mx goes down, I won't really suffer at all. But remembering how much I used them and benefitted from them when I first started makes me think that banning tabs would be a huge hinderance to a generation of new musicians.

ill just start DL'n entire LISTs of artists off on power tabs and things

Very appropriate that I'm listening to RATM right now. What kills me is that these people don't even realize that doing things like this only makes us want to pirate crap even more and find even more creative solutions around their bullshit. EDIT: An irony I just thought of. The suits claim that tab sites are infringing on an artist's compensation. But a week ago, Lord Tim himself actually helped correct someone's attempt to tab out a Dungeon song. He had no problem with other people distributing the tabs, because his money comes form albums and T-shirt sales. |

Not aggressive, but passive in nature. Sort of like Ghandi, without the fasts |
I cannot believe this. The more I read, the more enraged I get. How can they possibly prove that public transcription sites (many of which have the least accurate tabs around one could find) are depriving musicians and publishers of income? What about the many bands who don't have tablature books for sale? What is done about them? This is just utterly ridiculous and disgusting. The bands should seriously step in on this: after all, many of them have tablature sections on their own official sites.

also, he has said he doesn't mind people emailing songs of Dungeons (not albums) to each other as samplers and no more. the things people will do nowadays though are ridiculous. i suppose it's just to force people to get the official sheet music or to make them buy programmes like Guitar Pro and download the tabs from the bands' sites.
Sort of like Ghandi, without the fasts
i could never cope without food :p |

See my edit on the last page about Lord Tim. Personally, I think I see what's going on. Big businesses didn't have a clue what the internet was capable of. They dropped the ball, missed the boat, screwed the pooch... and they're pissed. So now that they missed their chance, they're trying to make sure no one else can have it. In retaliation, here's my plan: - Musicians sign only to independent labels and use internet mailing lists with sample mp3s to help build up a fanbase. These mailing lists will naturally also include touring schedules, tabs, lyrics, news updates, etc. -Writers switch to eBooks. The amount of control is staggering. -Artists and filmmakers should set up their own studios and websites so that they can offer their works to a huge audience on their own terms. All of us will follow the obvious benefit that we retain more control. If an artist can run everything themself via the internet, they retain all of the creative, marketing, and merchandising rights. Meaning we get to call the shots. |
you can't fukking copyright a sound like they think...
remember when Harley Davidson tried to copyright the sound of their motorcycles... they failed miserably |
i'll leave you lot to bitch about the big companies and corporations then, i'm off for the night now. bye

I think I'm going to load every single transcription I own into Finale and post them into e-mails. It's unfair to say that nobody buys the tablature books as a result of the sites, because I buy hundreds. So: every book I own, transcribed and mailed out for free.

That would be very nice of you. I think this whole situation is rediculous. The Tabs are original works and are not done by the bands. Its not like the people making the tabs are making a profit off of them. / I called in sick to my community service because i already missed half of it. Listening to Dragonforce sometimes makes me lose track of the time. |

Send some Satch and Celtic music my way. We have to start somewhere. In my case, you'll have to send me the files in tab code. From there, I'll put them into GuitarPro and distribute what I can to others who use the software. In the meantime, I have a shitload of dowloading to do from MySongbook just in case the MPA decides to turn their eye that way. |
