Here's yesterday in a nutshell.

About a month ago, I asked Terry Taylor of Hunt Industries (booking company basically) if we could play the PA Benefit show for El Torreon (all money goes towards fixing their busted *** PA) and he put us on it. The show was yesterday.

I told everybody about it in my band and everybody got the day off right away.

Fast forward to last sunday, when my guitarist says he might have to work now because somebody else at work is going out of town that day (friday / yesterday) and they just told everybody Sunday, so he's working instead.

Now, he gets the day off a month in advance (my guitarist) and come 5 days beforehand, the other guy gets it off instead, that's total BS! But as far as I know he's still playing the show, he never said otherwise.

Thursday night I worked from 5 to midnight, and when I got home I took my drumset apart and wiped everything clean to make it shine on stage and stacked it up, ready to load.
Friday morning I wake up at 11AM, shower, shave, and load my drumset up. Bassist shows up at 12 and we load his stuff into his car.
We call guitarist and he's all like "Nah, I got to work today man"

...

So after awhile on the phone trying to convince him he needs to be there for us (it's 2:00PM now and we needed to load in at 2:30 and it's a half hour drive without traffic), we load his stuff into our cars and go over there (down the street), and get into a big argument with his girlfriend about why he's going to work instead of the show.
His GIRLFRIEND was arguing that rather than play the show and leave when we're done (we were on at 4:30 and would be done by 5, they were to be at work by 4) and be 1 hour late for work, they need to just go to work because they need the money.
$7 an hour between the 2 of them that's $14 they would be missing BEFORE taxes. I offered to pay them $20 right there to shut up and pack.

So eventually it ends up as he's not going and he's not playing, end of the story, they're going to work instead. So we unload his **** at his house and tell him if he doesn't go to this show this band is over, and they don't say anything so we unload and leave for the club.
We get there (with our stuff still in our cars, no time to unload), tell the guy we're not playing, and tell our singer we're not playing.
(Singer lives near the club and skated down there in the rain through traffic)

When we got there, still an hour before doors opened, my friends from Smithville and Plattesburg were there to see us (a 45 minute drive), and JUST to see us, and they wasted their day. Bass players family already drove down there and had to drive back because we weren't playing.

SO
I hear he called and wants to talk blah blah blah, still wants to play our other show the 25th, but we're not sure about his dedication so we need to talk to him and if he's not in the band 100% willing to miss work for any gig, he's out.

*That's the short version*

rockindrummer 08-13-2005 06:32 PM

^ Holy shit dude that sucks. I would have stuck through with kicking you guitarist out of the band he definitly isn't commited enough. His girlfriend sounds like a total bitch.

**** dude that blows

PowerStamp 08-13-2005 07:14 PM

Due to very odd work schedules (I'm on overnights for the next couple of weeks until the 4th, when we're done with overnights at my store, my bass player works overnights, singer works late nights/overnights, and guitarist works 4 to 9, so yeah), I probably won't see or hear from him until tuesday, which is our usual practice day.
I told him if he wants to talk about it to be there on Tuesday and that she (girlfriend) isn't welcome in my house, no question.

So tuesday we're all gonna sit down and talk about this and we're going to tell him the good old saying: Bros before Hos. He's been with her maybe 6 months now, I've known him for 7 years.
And it has John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Uma Thurman, and Bruce Willis in it.
yay i love uma, hah uma and juilette lewis in hysterical blindness, none of you prolly saw this, more of a chick thing

KWG 08-13-2005 07:29 PM

I saw bridget jonen's diary...thats a chick thing...pretty **** hillarious though

Win A Rabbit 08-13-2005 07:31 PM

powerstamp, that's like a bigger, more serious version of what's happening in my band. my guitarist spends every free second he has to either hang out with his girlfriend or talk to her, and he's only with us if he finally realizes we haven't called him for band practice (or at all) in a few weeks, so he'll come with us one day, and then it repeats.

well i'm going out right away to see four brothers. i'm not really expecting much from it, but hey, it might be good. anyone see it yet?

PowerStamp 08-13-2005 07:33 PM

nope, but I did see that it got like 1 or 2 out of 5 stars on ebert and ****faces thing, or whatever it's called.

stabbinspaghetti 08-13-2005 07:33 PM

KWG 08-13-2005 07:39 PM

stabbinspaghetti 08-13-2005 07:41 PM

yeah dukes was pretty good, i was surprised that jessica was good, and not in it just for her killer body

KWG 08-13-2005 07:48 PM

stabbinspaghetti 08-13-2005 08:04 PM
