I've seen this canadian tribute band called Rubber Soul last year.

Woodstock 07-16-2005 05:00 PM

I've seen the official cover band. They were really good, except Paul was fat.

I really love the song "It's All Too Much" even though it is pretty well overlooked

clown_phobia 07-16-2005 07:02 PM

I went to a beatles festival last month... heaps of coverbands! They also had paul and ringo's spare sgt peppers suits, john lennon's spare help suit, his glasses... all this memorabilia!
I performed in the school competition... it was good stuff.

And good job rescuing this thread! I thought it was dead...

.no, tha'd be Paul :p

That is so sweet you have a Beatles festival, and was wondering if you lived near me, but then realized that you are an Aussie

Seafroggys 07-16-2005 07:46 PM

Yes, I'm seeing Paul McCartney in Portland.

Yes, I've seen Beatlemania twice, they were alright....they duplicated the songs excellently but they didn't have a great live sound. We were in an arena that was like 1/4 full, and their sound system was so bad to fill up that space. The second time they played with the Oregon Symphony, but in order to hear the symphony they had to turn everything way down, and it was hard to hear anything really above the strings and such.

DeusExMachina 07-17-2005 10:36 AM

I saw a cover group called Rain a little while back. They were pretty good.

I got a John Lennon poster when I was away. It's pretty awesome.

What does it look like?

The only Beatles poster I have is the one that came in the vinyl White Album. It's pretty sweet

El_Goodo 07-17-2005 12:06 PM

I was just listening to this song, and then I wondered....who owns the rights to revolution number 9? I don't see sony, michael jackson, or Paul McCartney wanting to own this song? But maybe sony just got in with there bundle of songs?

That poster sounds alot more valuable than mine lol...I bought an Abbey Road poster, and a John Lennon poster that shows his face and then the words to imagine.

And in other news, I just listened to the slow version of Revolution for the first time. It's a bit disapointing compared to the single. But it's not bad...just not good after hearing a much better version.

Yes, I love "It's All Too Much" one of my favorites of George. The four new songs from Yellow Submarine are four of my favorite Beatles songs I wish they made a full album of new stuff, instead of all the soundtrack stuff on the second side. At least the CD does have all the songs from the movie.

Another song that I really love and most people don't even know about is "The Inner Light."

The Inner Light is soooo cool. And It's All Too Much seems to be a very classic example of Pshychedelia in the 60's
I hate it when you have to spend 15$ on an album that only has a couple songs you aren't sick of. Past masters v. II has three of my favorites, Rain, the Inner Light and Old Brown Shoe

magicbus 07-17-2005 05:41 PM

I have an Abbey Road poster, a Sgt. Pepper's poster, a Let It Be poster, and then a poster with a bunch of pictures of the Beatles in different stages of their career.

That sounds like my sister, she has a whole wall dedicated to them

AeroRusH 07-17-2005 05:45 PM

Speaking of good obscure songs.
Hey Bulldog...now that rocks the house! :thumb:

I actually only have the last one put up. I'm saving them all for my college room. :p

It is the second reason to get Yellow Submarine if you already have all of the Beatle's original albums

What a riff

Is the "Inner Light" the song at the very end of the movie. Where it's that extremly trippy part. Watching that stoned is unreal. :thumb:

It's all with Indian instuments and I don't think it was in a movie. You might be thinking of "It's All Too Much" though, I think that was at the end of Yellow Submarine

robo2448 07-17-2005 06:26 PM

Hey Bulldog is one of my favorite Beatles songs. I listen to it on xsao all the time.

Michigan State University in January. I've been trying to save up posters for my room.

Cool. I need to get some posters. I don't really have any. No music posters at least.

I think Jackson has it..

I might be wrong, but Paul Mccartney only owns four of their really early songs... "love me do" etc...

It's the picture of John with the sunglasses and his arms crossed over a "New York City" t-shirt.

Paul owns everything after Sgt. Pepper (I think he might own Sgt. Pepper too, I'm not sure). So, if I'm not mistaken, that means Paul owns Revolution 9.

MBS 07-18-2005 06:36 PM
It's the picture of John with the sunglasses and his arms crossed over a "New York City" t-shirt.
My friend has a shirt he made himself, he has John Lennon glasses on and he made it so that it was his sillohuete (sp?) was on there with that shirt. So the shirt was him wearing that shirt doing the same pose.

If that makes sense.

robo2448 07-18-2005 06:50 PM

Lennon had the coolest sunglasses.

Seafroggys 07-18-2005 07:24 PM

I got some Lennon sunglasses once, the completly round ones, looked terrible on me :upset:

But I want sunglasses like his so I can kick ***.

Btw, I only have one Beatles poster in my room; its the With the Beatles cover. I also have a psychedlic Lennon poster up (the same picture in the booklet for the '1' album) and a sketch of a New York-era Lennon photo that I haven't put up yet.
