like the jingle bell tune in Octavarium

classicrockman 10-10-2005 04:30 PM
youve heard I&W, 6DOIT and ACOS, and you still think 8V is the best??? hmmm.....i dont see how
Here's how I rank 'em:

1. Octavarium
2. Images & Words
3. A Change of Seasons
4. 6 Degrees of Inner Turbulence
5. Awake

Hey the important thing is that we're both fans of Dream Theater. Some people perfer different albums over others...that's personal opinion. But we both like the same band. :thumb:

Darkness 10-10-2005 04:32 PM

Does anyone else prefer Awake to Images and words..

And that's a great thing about DT, they are so varied that 2 people can like them for completely different reasons. When I first heard them it was only really the heavy songs that attracted me (TGP, songs from ToT), but since then most of it seems to have grown on me and there's little I dislike.

scenesfromatheater 10-10-2005 04:33 PM

yeh, as long as you like DT, I don't think your a loser

classicrockman 10-10-2005 04:34 PM
yeh, as long as you like DT, I don't think your a loser
:)

Thank you.

scenesfromatheater 10-10-2005 04:37 PM

I've only managed to convert one person and his dad(?!?) to DT who I know. Nobody I know seems like them or has never heard them

I got into DT by hearing about Petrruci in my guitar magazines all the time. They said he's just as good as guys like Satriani and Vai. So said who the hell is this guy? I've got to hear his stuff.

Now I see.

scenesfromatheater 10-10-2005 04:44 PM

I got into them after my brother showed me the cool piano solo thing in Dance of Eternity and the piano solo in ACOS on LSFNY. And the simpsons theme they played in ACOS. After that I just watched the video of ACOS at LSFNY until i memorized it all. Then I just gradually started listening to more DT. and it was great

Lord Abortion 10-10-2005 04:47 PM

Rasnkings of DT albums?

mine goes
Images and words
Train of thought
Scenes from a memory
Octavarium
Six degrees
A change of seasons
Awake
Falling into infinity.

That was difficult :(
Does anyone else prefer Awake to Images and words..
I do. The only thing I like more on I&W than Awake is the bass playing.

Chu 10-10-2005 04:57 PM
And the simpsons theme they played in ACOS.
Where does this happen?

Scotti_Dawg 10-11-2005 06:02 AM

Im only new to DT so does anyone have albums they would recomend
i have Octavarium which 2 me is AMAZING, but wot albums are worth buying?

Lord Abortion 10-11-2005 06:06 AM

I would suggest Images and words, scenes from a memory, or train of thought.

Scotti_Dawg 10-11-2005 06:09 AM

Thanks man :thumb: :thumb:

nowitzki 10-11-2005 06:48 AM
Thanks man :thumb: :thumb:
Yeah I agree with Lord Abortion's reccomendations, Train of Thought is a lot heavier than the others though, so I'd only reccomend that at first if you're a big metal fan.

Dragon_Prince 10-11-2005 07:24 AM

James' voice still works well?
James' voice still works well?
Better than Hetfield's

Lord Abortion 10-11-2005 12:37 PM
Better than Hetfield's
Hahaha...that made me laugh. As if that poser Hetfield would ever hope in his wildest dreams to have a voice as good as LaBrie's

Lawlz, I was bored today, so as I was browsing for skins on Winamp, I decided to troll over to the "video" section and take a look.

I found DT in the "Classic and Oldies" genre...

scenesfromatheater 10-11-2005 03:16 PM
I found this pretty amusing. http://jlbscream.ytmnd.com/
haha, that first one cracks me up every time, anyone know what song/show is that from?????

Order of my favourite DT albums:

Images and Words
Scenes From A Memory
Train Of Thought / Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
A Change of Seasons
Octavarium
Awake/Falling Into Infinity

From what I've heard, on this tour it's better than ever.

classicrockman 10-11-2005 03:52 PM

'Live at Budokan' kicks ***. I love the way it opens with "As I Am." "Beyond this Life" is also very good on the DVD.
