Broken Arrow 09-22-2005 04:30 PM

What about me?

Does anyone have the Black Keys album "The Big Come UP" or something along the lines of that.

Lunch 09-22-2005 04:33 PM

I consider the Dead a very American band, probably one of the most American rock bands (by my definition).

Glitterati 09-22-2005 05:30 PM
Robert Plant in four hours.

I wish I could see Robert Plant.

Does anyone have Bringing It All Back Home that they could upload? I only have it on vinyl and I get the most intense cravings to listen to it while I'm at my computer and in my car, and if you can believe this....I went to five different music stores the other day looking for it and none of them have it! I hate how some music stores will have like eight different greatest hits albums from each artist, but none of their actual albums. God that makes me angry. I honestly can't find a half decent CD in this city I don't already own.

Thank you very much! I'm so grateful. I just made tea and now I've gotta go study, tomorrow I've got a test in math, physics and info pro.

Lunch 09-22-2005 06:13 PM

I hate those Friday tests, I have two tomorrow myself.

JonG 09-22-2005 06:22 PM

It seems like all the teachers in my school all get together and schedule tests on Fridays. This Friday I don't have one. But who cares, I'm goin' to Minnesota for the weekend.

Teacher's here do that too. Every Friday it seems like I have 4-6 tests and an essay due. Ridiculous.

Broken Arrow 09-22-2005 06:30 PM

Haha, I get tomorrow off for some reason.

I just wrote out a bunch of bass riffs on this sheet for me to play it includes:
Death From Above 1979-Little Girl
The Doors-Soul Kitchen
The Doors-When the Music's Over
The Doors-5 to 1
The Doors-Peace Frog
The Doors-The WASP
The Doors-L.A. Woman
Pink Floyd-Breathe
The Dead-China Cat Sunflower
The Dead-Dark Star
Queens of the Stone Age-Medication
Albert King-Born Under a Bad Sign
Band of Gypsies-Machine Gun
Neil Young-Cowgirl inthe Sand

These were all pretty random, lotsa Doors I guess. I already know some of them and I can play all of them I just think they are good jamming riffs. Please add some more.

blue3 09-22-2005 06:31 PM

Happy birthday! ..to robo2448..

pohl_56 09-22-2005 06:33 PM

Ditto that and comming from a straight A student I must say that I need to get with the program. I am so beihind right now but am still pulling it off. Anywho-In reference to the hurricane-I know most of you dont like em but i thought of Ridin' the Storm out by REO Speedwagon. Great song. Well good luck and keep on rockin'!

Broken Arrow 09-22-2005 06:34 PM

I saw REO Speedwagon at a music festival. Me and a couple friends went through a half-o in an hour.

Add:

Grateful Dead - Help on the Way/Slipknot!
Byrds - Eight Miles High

Ooh, add Teacher and Badge.

Broken Arrow 09-22-2005 06:40 PM

Is Teacher a Jethro Tull song?

/Adds Badge

JonG 09-22-2005 06:41 PM

Yes it is. The last song on Benefit.

jpj 09-22-2005 06:42 PM

The Teacher riff is awesome and fun to play.

Broken Arrow 09-22-2005 06:43 PM

I'll look it up although I'm not familiar with the song.

I had a Sci/Tech test the other day. I barely passed :(

And I think Minnesota is where Fargo takes place

JonG 09-22-2005 06:44 PM

I need to get me a bass. The intro to Friend of the Devil is a pretty cool Lesh lick. Sounds nice with 2 guitars and a bass.

*EDIT*

Yeah, Fargo is way up there. Don't know why they named it that. It's funny to hear them talk.

Dont'cha know.

That'd be your friend in the wood-chipper eh?
Happy birthday! ..to robo2448..

Thanks. I got Bob Dylan- Chronicles, which I've been wanting for a while, and a few cds that I'm not sure if I'm going to keep or exchange.

The Rolling Stones- A Bigger Bang (I think I'll keep it)
The Rolling Stones- Exile on Main Street (Already have it burned from a friend, but I guess my mom didn't know that so she bought it for me. I might keep it though, just because I like to own actual copies of cds.
Blues Brothers- Soundtrack (keep)
Steve Winwood- 20th Century Greatest Hits (Definitely return. All 20th masters suck, and my mom couldn't find any Traffic cds, so she just bought this so I'd have another thing to open. I think she only looked in Sam Goody though, which doesn't have much in terms of selection. Coconuts should have some Traffic that I can exchange this for).

I got money from grandparents that I might get some more stuff with. And I got portable speakers for my ipod. Good birthday.

Broken Arrow 09-22-2005 06:47 PM

Yeah, but when all your playing is a bass it sounds like a scale. I like playing it on guitar because you can kind of put the two guitar parts together and that sounds good. but yeah 2 guitars a bass and a mandolin sounds the best.

JonG 09-22-2005 06:50 PM

Heh, I'm here listening to "Route 66" by the Stones. I think it's kind of funny because they're a bunch of young Brits, and haven't even been to these cities :x

I don't have any really early Stones. My earliest is Their Satanic Majesty Requests. Is Route 66 from England's Newest Hitmakers?

JonG 09-22-2005 06:56 PM
I don't have any really early Stones. My earliest is Their Satanic Majesty Requests. Is Route 66 from England's Newest Hitmakers?
Yeah. Pretty good, the sound quality isn't the greatest though.

I think it's a backwards G-scale, which accounts for my ability to jam in G (I can't jam so easily in the others)

I really need to get bass, harmonica and bagpipe lessons, I keep on putting it off. Harmonica is so much fun to play, you can just keep it in your pocket and jam whenever

Speaking of Jams, does anyone have Spanish Jam? I've played the tab on rukind.com, it sounds like fun but I have never heard the actual recording

/plays castanets

Broken Arrow 09-22-2005 07:43 PM

I have one with the Dead, The Allmans(with Duane) and Peter Green.

I love it.

Lunch 09-22-2005 07:46 PM

I think I only have the Dead version.

Broken Arrow 09-22-2005 07:48 PM

Ok, I'll YSI it up.

magicbus 09-22-2005 07:48 PM

On The Beach is such a great album. I can see myself listening to this in any situation. Every song is good.

In related news, The Gilded Palace of Sin is also a very good album. I've only listened to it once, but I liked it a lot.

Broken Arrow 09-22-2005 07:56 PM

I haven't heard it.

But yes "On the Beach" rules.

Broken Arrow 09-22-2005 08:07 PM

Download the song from my latest email. ok?

Illmatic 09-22-2005 08:10 PM

JonG 09-22-2005 08:13 PM

Woot, just learned the intro to Ripple. What a great song :)

BludgeonySteve 09-22-2005 08:16 PM

Indeed. Easy listening acoustic rock at its best.

Broken Arrow 09-22-2005 08:17 PM

BludgeonySteve 09-22-2005 08:19 PM

I can't believe that i'm sorta kinda in the middle.

JonG 09-22-2005 08:21 PM

There are a lot of people who are 15.

Me, Jacaranda, Livewired, jpj(I think), Badmoon, Welcometothemachine

Broken Arrow 09-22-2005 08:23 PM

Badmoon is technically a year older though. He turns 16 soon maybe?
