classic rock is definently getting more popular.
My favorites: Pink Floyd Zeppelin AC/DC Black Sabbath Deep Purple The Who
I wouldn't say its getting more popular, more that theres alot of people out there who have only heard Another Brick in the Wall, Stairway to Heaven, Back in Black, Smoke on the Water, and Iron Man, yet still consider themselves knowelgeble in classic rock. |
MAn, it's been a while.
But, to the above post, true there are many people who have heaerd only certain songs and still consider themselves knowledgable, but TBH, I really haven't heard that much when you look at a lot of the other people in this thread, but I'd say I'm pretty knowledgable. Badmoon, I got Workingman's Dead over the weekend and I LOVE it! I'm starting to get into the Dead a lot more now. I've got American Beuty, Anthem of the Sun, and Workingman's Dead, what do you think I should go for next? The country rock thing they do is pretty unique, and I have to say Garcia has one of the most versatile voices I've heard in a while. |
Get either Aoxomoxoa, Live/Dead, or Skull and Roses(s/t). Aoxo and Live/Dead are from their psychedelic era, and Skull and Roses is mostly country rock. It's live though so it's more rock than the country on Workingman's Dead or AB.

Live/ Dead is really psychadelic.
I think just a microphone will be fine. Plus you should download audacity.
I would like to do "Friend of the Devil". I think we could fit three guitars in there easily. And I know most the licks, riffs, runs, and solos to it. EDIT: Pete Seeger owns. After hating his voice for months, I have finally gotten into it, and his writing.
Would be great. I know that song all the way through. Weir and Garcias part. Leshs bass in Friend of the Devil is awesome. |
Leshs bass in Friend of the Devil is awesome.
Yeah, the guitar intro is a beleive just a G scale played backwards so I was trying to figure out if the bass is it forwards. If you know how it goes, could you help me with it? |

the bass part sounds too differed to just be a g scale forward. |

I think the bass is a G backwards, too. EDIT: The tab I found sounds like forwards, so nevermind. |
Also, in Vancouver-related concert news, Bob Dylan's going to be here in July.
|
Dylan's not coming to NY :upset:
I guess I'll see him in NJ or Connecticut then, still pretty close to me. Everyone go check out the link somebody posted in Lunch's FA. It's the last post on the 2nd page. The Who TV thing is awesome. |

where'd you get it? |
where'd you get it?
I just searched "Friend of the Devil bass tab" on google, but I think it's on mx, too. EDIT: Nevermind, I'm really stupid. It's backwards. |
Thoughts on Fleetwood Mac, anyone?
|
Not good.
|
Thoughts on Fleetwood Mac, anyone?
I like Peter Green. His song Oh Well is amazing. |
I'm not too fond of Fleetwood Mac, to be honest.
|
Yea, Peter Green is cool though.
|
early fleetwood mac is good. how can you take three members of the bluesbreakers and not be a good blues rock band?
|
Thoughts on Fleetwood Mac, anyone?
I really like them, I've got 7 of their albums. Their earlier blues stuff was great, and their later seventies albums were just as good. |
Fleetwood Mac is one of those bands to me where you here so many of their songs on the radio, but never realize it's them. More and more of there hits are being revealed to me these days, and I really like them.
|
They're one of my dad's favorite bands so I was subjected to them quite a bit growing up. And, as lepper already said, they're on the radio a lot. Don't think I ever heard a song by them that I didn't like. Good, unique vocal styles in all members that sing, and good songwriting.

Alright! Brian's back!! lol
|
You know it :). What's going on?
|
Just glad to see you keep your word and go back to the classic again man hehe
Yeah, the guitar intro is a beleive just a G scale played backwards so I was trying to figure out if the bass is it forwards. If you know how it goes, could you help me with it?
I've been working on the bassline for that song for weeks, the intro is the same as the guitar (g-scale backwards) but it doesn't play it very long. I could do bass if you need one, if you are really going to do this thing |
elvis costello is cool
/bump |
Brian Wilson's Smile is fantastic! I have to admit I wasn't to big of a fan of Pet Sounds either. Every song sounds almost completly different, Brian's voice is better than ever, every song just flows greatly with the album and harmonies on this album are rivaled by none. I think almost everyone in this thread will appreciate it. :)
If you want to learn more about this fantastic album read Med's reveiw. (below) http://www.musicianforums.com/sputnik/album.php?reviewid=1647 |
I like Fleetwood Mac. They had a great knack for making catchy, extremely listeneable pop songs.
I'm especially fond of the vocal harmonies on 'The Chain'. |
DMV won the NRMOTM! Second (maybe third) Classic Rock regular n00b to win it.
|
Isn't it good to know we have great n00bs? Congrats DMV. :thumb
