I agree, I love that album so much. Suspect Device is such an awesome opening song for an awesome album.

Every song is amazing, suspect device is one of the greatest opening songs of all time. We are right, Dave is wrong :p

MILF Hunter 06-15-2005 02:54 PM

Give Nobodys Hero a good listen and I think you'll find im right :p They even cover the Specials for gawds sake

Twat_Out_Of_Hell 06-15-2005 02:58 PM

F'uck SLF released their first four CDs in 4 years then took 10 years off!

Haha i trust you Dave, i think i'm gonna have to go and buy that CD. As soon as i have money anyway.... :(

the-UK-ska-scene 06-15-2005 02:59 PM

Alright lads I know it's not exactly appropriate to advertise in the community thread, but seeing as I love a good few of you, and a couple of you love me back, I thought it was worth having a go!

Any of you ever used http://www.punkermentality.com ?

Well me and a few mates have just started up PunkerMentality zine, a fanzine which is pretty phat, and issue #1 has just come out. You guys really should check it out, I just made a thread about it in the classifieds. You can read about it and stuff here - http://www.pmzine.co.uk

We interviewed a ton of bands for the first issue, including Dropkick Murphys, Smoke Like A Fish, Paul from Punktastic, and $up. There's also a lot of articles about interesting things (you knows it) and I really reckon you should check it out. I mean, it's a A4 cut-n-paste zine, we've made a run of 400, and it's pretty fat at 66 pages (not as big as Rancid News....Yet).

You can buy it off PunkerMentality here - http://www.punkermentality.com/moreinfo.php?id=5469

Anyway, all that over and done with, does Fat Matt still come around these parts? Under some guise or other?

EDIT: And that thing on The Lock-Up last night, top 30 punk tracks, was bloody shocking! The first hour was alright, but American Idiot at number 8? And Nirvana and Prodigy at the top? Were they having a laugh?

Scabies 06-15-2005 03:00 PM

Matt pops up every so often, posts a few times then disappears again.

EDIT - Basket case best punk song ever?!

Twat_Out_Of_Hell 06-15-2005 03:01 PM

I'll check it out...

Matt hasn't posted properly for a while now

EDIT: ah that lock up thing was shocking. american idiot got in there!! It started off ok then got progressively worse. The Prodigy got to number 4, how did that happen? At leats that bloke played the Exploited instead

Jessizzle 06-15-2005 03:04 PM

I cant stop listening to the Antimaniaxs Cover of War Story.

white_riot 06-15-2005 03:07 PM

That sounds awful. Did they play any good songs?

TheJackOfHearts 06-15-2005 03:12 PM

A few good songs but in general pretty terrible.

1. Green Day - Basket Case
2. The Undertones - Teenage Kicks
3. The Clash - London Calling
4. The Prodigy - Firestarter
5. Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
6. Sex Pistols - Anarchy in the UK
7. Sex Pistols - God Save the Queen
8. Green Day - American Idiot
9. Alkaline Trio - Private Eye
10. Green Day - LongView
11. The Ramones - Blitzkrieg Bop
12. The Clash - White Riot
13. The Buzzcocks - Ever Fallen in Love
14. At The Drive In - One Armed Scissor
15. Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American
16. Stiff Little Fingers - Alternative Ulster
17. Rancid - Ruby Soho
18. Dead Kennedys - Holiday in Cambodia
19. Sex Pistols - Pretty Vacant
20. The Ramones I Wanna Be Sedated
21. Refused - New Noise
22. Bad Religion - American Jesus
23. NOFX - Stickin In My Eye
24. AFI - Days of The Phoenix
25. Capdown - Ska Wars
26. The Clash - White Man in Hammersmith
27. The ****ed - New Rose
28. The Offspring - Come Out and Play
29. Pennywise - Bro Hymn
30. Fugazi - Waiting Room

white_riot 06-15-2005 03:21 PM

At Least they Played White Riot.

guns_of_brixton 06-15-2005 03:21 PM

What a terrible list. White Man In Hammersmith Palais and Holiday in Cambodia are the only ones deserving of the list.

guns_of_brixton 06-15-2005 03:23 PM
At Least they Played White Riot.
Ahh, they do. I didn't notice.

I shouldn't get into this... but what would everyone else put at the top of their list.

Twat_Out_Of_Hell 06-15-2005 03:24 PM

i'd say there's a few more than that. God Save the Queen, Come Out And Play, London Calling, Blitzkrieg Bop, ever Fallen In Love, and at least 1 song by NOFX and Bad Religion. I thought it started reasonably well then just went catastrophically wrong

white_riot 06-15-2005 03:27 PM

New Rose is a quality song.

TheJackOfHearts 06-15-2005 03:27 PM

ALF and DK are the best songs there.

Twat_Out_Of_Hell 06-15-2005 03:30 PM
Ahh, they do. I didn't notice.

And at least they had an SLF song in there, but still no sham 69 at all!?

I don't think anyone could do the number 1, it would all come down to opinion and it would have to be done as a vote.

No green day fans should be allowed in it at all

RetiredAt21 06-15-2005 03:57 PM

There is just so much missing from that list.

TheJackOfHearts 06-15-2005 03:57 PM

The singer from the Drunk Injuns has an awesome voice.

RetiredAt21 06-15-2005 03:58 PM

I've never heard any Drunk Injuns songs. Linkage?

Forest_Fire 06-15-2005 04:05 PM

I have to go on a 13 hour car ride to Florida, and the same back. I need some new music. Recommendations? I'm looking for some good hardcore.

TheJackOfHearts 06-15-2005 04:08 PM

New hardcore or 80s hardcore?

Forest_Fire 06-15-2005 04:10 PM

Either, as long as it's good. I'm digging through the recommendations thread now. I forgot it existed

So, officially as of today I never have to set foot on the campus of Dr. James J. Hogan High School, tomorrow I graduate. Our school is gay and doesn't have a football field, so we use the other high school's.

TheJackOfHearts 06-15-2005 04:40 PM

I've got a few exams left.

TAND 06-15-2005 04:44 PM

i still got 7 of my exams left.

Brain Toad 06-15-2005 04:46 PM

I had Shakespeare and Open Insturment finals. Shakespeare was a paper, so just watched The Tempest and part of Shakespeare in Love, then turned them in. Open Insturment we were supposed to preform a song, so I brought my guitar for nothing and it was a bitch carrying around.

TAND 06-15-2005 04:47 PM

my two finals today were java programming and english. we had two hours for each of them. i spent between 20 and 30 minutes on the java one, then spent the rest of the time playing counter strike.

TheJackOfHearts 06-15-2005 04:51 PM

I had a 3 hour English exam on War Literature.
