OMG, you and this my korean neighbor are like the only other people I've ever known that have heard of "The Philidelphia Experiment". They're frikin sick.

And the soundtrack was a lot of different songs, if I remember right. I know "Take Five" was in there...
I havn't heard them yet, but God I'm so waiting for when I get off my butt and pick up that cd. It came in like 4 weeks ago. ?uestlove is my favorite drummer. Although his proformance on Dave Chapelle's Block Party was rather dissapointing.

I'll have to check the soundtrack out. Thanks. I didn't remember hearing Take Five in the movie. Maybe that's just not what a soundtrack is.
about christianity and such a page back, i just thought i'd add something in here.

everyone has this wonderful view of heaven. about life after death. but no-one has ever described it to me this way:

surviving your physical death would not be a walk in the park. do you know how many mental consequences there would be from living after being shot to death, strangled, etc. all those gruesome things. never mind waking up and having someone tell you that you are infact dead, and that you will not get to see the people that you love until they also die.

everyone sees it as a joyful place, when in fact it is almost cruel for a god to keep someones soul alive for an eternity after they have physically died.
Let's not start the religion debate again. It's never any good.

I'm pretty sure it is...

Unless I'm thinking of a different movie I saw around the same time... In that case I'm sorry... I mix things up like that a lot...

EDIT: Yea, it's not on the soundtrack, I must've mixed it up, sorry.

Janeway 04-09-2006 10:06 PM

Torrent was a lot more effort than normal downloading.
Took me four hours to get the album, and then I had to download a converter to convert the .ogg files to .mp3. Bleh.

rockindrummer 04-09-2006 10:14 PM

That sucks pespi. Torrents are super easy for me, I've never had to convert any weird files.

Cocaberry 04-09-2006 10:16 PM
then I had to download a converter to convert the .ogg files to .mp3. Bleh.
Why would you convert if you could just get an ogg plugin for your media player?

Janeway 04-09-2006 10:16 PM

Yeah. The only good thing is that I don't get banned when theres 2% left on the file.

Because I wanted to burn it to CD.

Get an Ogg plugin for your cd burner then. :thumb:

Anytime you decode then reencode the quality suffers. Lots of that crap is low quality to begin with. Might as well have the best quality you can possibly have right?

rockindrummer 04-09-2006 10:48 PM

^ that isn't true. I know that I have a bunch of cds with quality that sounds the same as the real cd.

Janeway 04-09-2006 10:58 PM

Well, it's not like the quality is unbearable.
And I'm not listening to it through anything remotely high end.
An 8 year old portable CD player and $5 headphones isn't exactly good.

Cocaberry 04-09-2006 11:15 PM
^ that isn't true. I know that I have a bunch of cds with quality that sounds the same as the real cd.
Just because it sounds the same doesn't mean it is the same. CDs are very high quality. If you take that and make very high quality mp3s then take those mp3s, decode them, reencode them to very high quality mp3s then you probably won't beable to tell the difference. Do that 10 times though and you will be able to tell the difference.

But, if you take the same cd, you take a medium quality mp3 like a 160kbps CBR mp3, decode it, and then reencode it to the same specs, I guarantee the quality is going to degrade after the first time. These differences are more noticeable in the higher frequencies.

Cocaberry 04-09-2006 11:44 PM

Damn, I killed the conversation. :upset:

Ok. Does anyone have any tips on how to play bass drum relaxed? My leg and ankle get tensed up when I play at higher speeds. I play heel-up, if that matters.

Janeway 04-09-2006 11:49 PM

How far do you have your heel up?
I keep mine so that the rest of my foot is at a flat angle from where my toe is.

Cocaberry 04-09-2006 11:53 PM

My heel is about half an inch to an inch off the heel plate.

Janeway 04-09-2006 11:56 PM

Ah.
What part of your leg do you use to move the pedal?
And how tight are your pedals adjusted?
I think that a tighter pedal, while requiring more energy for the inital hit, is easier to keep in motion. Loose pedals are floppy and require more work for speed.

Cocaberry 04-10-2006 12:00 AM

My pedal used to be extremely tight but I adjusted it to medium tension last week. I use mostly ankle to move the pedal. Sometimes if the pattern is pretty simple I use more leg than ankle but the ankle still pivots.

I have an Iron Cobra Powerglide Single.

Janeway 04-10-2006 12:06 AM

Oh. I'm stuck then.

Well, buy a Yamaha.

Cocaberry 04-10-2006 12:11 AM

Oh ok. I guess I have to just practice harder then.

So whats up with you Pepsi? Why are you always down on yourself?
:(

Janeway 04-10-2006 12:17 AM

Isn't self-loathing the hip thing to do?

"cool, well slayer is like anti-melodic,in the way that theres no cheesy melodies like catchy "glorious" passages that a 11 years old girl would like(I think to some metallica stuff like The Unforgiven,or Children of Bodom that my mother do her aerobics on it) that comes from pop commercial.A lot of black and death bands tends blend those melodies with the "brutal" or aggressive music, and most of times its really bad..well I dont like it at all,it removes the purpose of that music genre."

I hate people.
How can anyone listen to music that doesn't have any melody to it?
You might as well stick a kitten in a blender and while listening to your grandma have a 30-minute orgasm. It pretty much gets you the same sound.

Futuro 04-10-2006 12:20 AM

I feel ya. If I listen to something I want a real emotional lead to it. Not just Powerchords and downtunings.

Cocaberry 04-10-2006 12:27 AM

Damn, we gotta get a D&P chatroom on here cause waiting for people to post is just boring.

Janeway 04-10-2006 12:29 AM

I know.
I'm getting tendonitis from clicking the refresh button every other second.

Drum Phil 04-10-2006 03:20 AM
Ew.
I don't like Phil's new name.
Aye well, its not like i was given a choice. None of the mods seem to be able to tell me WHY either.

Cocaberry 04-10-2006 03:54 AM

I doubt you got deleted just for no reason. You should know or at least have some idea of why you got deleted. Things like this don't just happen to random people out of nowhere.

Trev 04-10-2006 04:17 AM

There's nothing he could have done to warrant a deletion. The only people I can remember that have had accounts deleted as far as I can remember are Plexi, Chad, and the people that were banned during the server crash. Plexi and Chad both messed with the forum.

Drum Phil 04-10-2006 04:20 AM

Ive heard rumours of another hack mind. Maybe thats got summat to do with it

Don't worry about what muscles you're using for double kick, just keep building up your tempo, you'l find yourself using more ankles/ hip flexors with time.
