I've heard of everything minus Ghost in the Shell. How is Death Note? I've seen it at the anime rental place but never checked it out.

I've only seen a few episodes of Trigun, I dunno I couldn't really get into it.

I think I like the "darker" animes (if there's such a thing? I'm kind of a noob though)

Death Note was really good, I had put off watching it. Trigun isn't very good until about halfway through. The first half is too silly and there's no real plot.
