I absolutely hate Plastic Ono Band as an album. I think it's a pisspoor attempt to finish Lennon's therapy, and while that's understandable, I just don't think it's musically any good. But yeah, I think I'm in a minority there. Imagine's my favourite solo album by him, probably. Anyone who's British might want to get this month's edition of Q music magazine...it's got Lennon on the cover and has quite a bit about the 25th anniversary of his death, as well as a tribute CD to him which I haven't listened to yet. Anyway, it's quite interesting, especially about Double Fantasy, which I didn't really know all that much about before.
25th anniversary of his death won't be until December 8th, their a little early on that. I just checked though, and he was born on October 9, so that may be why they're doing a special on him. I might do a little write-up on Lennon on December 8th because it'll be the 25th anniversary of his death. |

That'll be a nice read. My friends and I might be putting on a Hurricane Rita benefit concert at school in December. We're trying to convince the leaders of the orchestra and choirs to participate. Think like Metallica's S&M except with a choir and less crappier. Edit:
I could use Anthology 1 and/or 3 if you have that. Thats not like a bootleg or anything, but still would be useful. Let it be sessions sounds good too.
I think we uploaded Anthology II and III and I know I uploaded Sessions before, but because I'm home today and have tons of free time to kill, I'll upload Anthology III and Sessions for you. Yes, you do qualify for my indentured servant plan. |
Speaking of convincing schools to perform stuff, I'm trying to convince my school to perform Atom Heart Mother. Won't happen, but it'd be cool if it did.
John Lennon's birthday is two days after mine! That makes me two days away from being really cool. |
It's 3 days after mine!
December Birthdays own  |

haha, Terrapin Station would be amazing.
|
Speaking of all that, I've been getting really into writing arrangements recently. I'm working on arranging some Pink Floyd stuff for orchestra, and some for a cello quartet. I think I'm going to do some Beatles stuff too.
It's 3 days after mine!
December Birthdays own
No...December Birthdays are bad and near his death. October birthdays are the good ones, my mom was born on October 9th too, and Im on the 28th. Anyways my favourite songs off POB are; Mother, I Found Out, Well Well Well, Love, and God I havent heard the entire Imagine album but the songs Ive heard and really like are; Imagine, How, and Oh My Love. Now onto another topic! Does anyone else like hearing in live songs or whatever, musicians fooling around and laughing. It really makes me laugh or smile when I hear that, it makes them seem more human, and its also just funny to hear them laughing during there songs. I bring this up beacause on the Let It Be Sessions during the CommonWealth Song John is doing some crazy voice impersonation. And Paul goes "Commonwealth" ...and John comes back "YES?" then Paul half/laughs while he continues the singing. Perhaps John's impersoning an immigrant? Judging by the words of the song. It starts at about the 1 minute mark. |
Haha, that song makes my laugh. As does No Pakistanis.
|
My birthday is on October 27 :)
my favorite John Lennon songs are : Mother, Imagine, Working Class Hero, Whatever Get You Through The Night, and Cold Turkey |
Haha, that song makes my laugh. As does No Pakistanis.
 Yea No Pakistanis is pretty hilarious. |
The verison of "And Your Bird Can Sing" where they all crack up is the song that I find the funniest.
|
Does anyone else love Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except For Me and My Monkey as much as me? It might be may favourite song on the second disc :)
|
Alright, not to bash you or anything, it's just the subject, but I'm not really fond of that song. I'm not sure why it's as popular as it is (popular in the sense that even at a young age I knew the title). I just don't like it.

 YOU SON OF A BITCH! I FREAKIN HATE YOU! ...Why would I take it as a bashing, if you said you didnt like it haha. There's no reason...I personally like every Beatles song I've heard. The only one I ever skip over is Birthday...cause...I just can't listen to it cause it's a birthday song, I cant listen to it when it's not a birthday. It's like listening to Happy X-Mas in July. It's actually a great song, the riffs are great and I love John's vocal melody...but its a birthday song..not an everyday song lol |
I've been thinking, and I want a sitar real bad :\
|
I want one too...I was disapointed to find my guitar shop had only a mandolin :(
|
Yea, I just didn't want to be like "hey, I'm shooting down the subject you started".
I also am very interested in finding a sitar. |
hmm...all the other threads are getting cool names now! Anyone think we should come up with one?
Hmm beatles songs are hard to come up with witty names.. The Long and Winding Thread Across The Thread Here Comes The Thread She Came In Through The Thread I've Got A Thread In My Thread A Day In THe Thread While My Thread Gently Wheeps Hapiness is A Warm Thread Why Dont We Do It In The Thread The Magical Mystery Thread ...lol I have a lot of time on my hands. |
Hapiness is a warm thread and a Day in the Thread gets my vote
|
I vote Can't Buy Me Thread.
Some other suggestions: Eight Threads A Week A Hard Thread's Post |
I'll place my vote for Happiness is a Warm Thread
|
I vote for The Magical Mystery Thread. The others are cool too.
|
Magical Mystery Thread, that sounds so cool, and consiquently gets my vote.

Magical Mystery Thread, or a Day in the Thread. Or, more aptly named, The Thread!!!! I also like Happiness is a Warm Thread.
Anyway, back on the lennon solo discussion, I believe med pointed out how he didn't like POB. IMO I don't even care if it was for therapy or not, I think its a killer album that shows more emotion then any other album in existance (after all, the content of these songs really delved into Lennon's inner demons hardcore, not many people do this, or when they do so, they do is metaphorically. Lennon was blunt about his pain "Momma don't go, daddy come home" etc. That part in Mother gives me chills. The weakest songs IMO are Love and My Mummy's Dead. As for God, I love the lyrics, is that there is a MUCH better version out there then the one on this album. Quite a long time before I bought the CD, I downloaded God and thought that was the song, but its completly different from the album version. The version I downloaded was Acoustic Guitar, drums, and bass, and a lot darker in tone and mood. If that version was on the album then yes that would be easily my favorite song on the album, but not with the included version. |
It's either "A Day in the Thread" or "The Magical Mystery Thread".
|
ok, then it should be called "The Yellow Submarine".

Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Thread

I used to want one really bad too, but the edge has worn off a bit
Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Thread
Nice As tempting as it is, the insertion of "Thread" in a song title is a tiny bit lame, IMO. I think we should try to come up with something more original. If that is all possible. Perhaps we could start a new trend |

How about "A Day in the Life of the Beatles Thread" /lame |
I just noticed this a few days ago, but on the cover of Abbey Road where all four Beatles are crossing the street Paul isn't wearing any shoes. Is there some kinda message behind that? Or is it anorther thing they threw in there for laughs?
|
Why not Come Together as a treadname
or Sergeant's MX lonely hearts club band |

They put that in to fuel the "Paul is Dead" hoax. There other signs on the cover that show Paul is dead too. Pretty clever stuff. |
copyright would destroy you
Why that? |
Hmm a new trend eh...that would be a beatle style thing to do. But what would we call it?
|

That would make sence, I think that when "I am the Walrus" came out before Abbey Road, if you played the bridge which just sounds like jibberish backwards on a turntable it says "Paul is Dead" I need to get a new belt for my turntable to try it out though :upset: |
