Hmm.
If you're a Deep Purple fan you'd like it, its a bit cheesy compared to other Sabbath albums but on the whole...its not so bad. I wouldn't pay more than about £10 for it though. |
Hey everyone what news on the song your playing?
On a different topic some twat went into the pub where my drums are, played on them and stabbed hole in the snare skin on the under side  More unrelated news im now in a band with Lord abortion so i can finally get the chance to play metal :thumb: ...once i get a new skin for my snare drum... |
I say you find the bastard who did that and kick some ***.
Anyway, thanks for the drum articles you've been submitting on MA, they are quite good. |
Would any of you consider Heaven and hell a sabbath album? I just consider it a dio album, it is a great album, but in my mind i think that sabbath isn't sabbath without ozzy.
|
Oh man. Black Sabbath is Black Sabbath. Dio/Ozzy/Any other singer. It's all Black Sabbath.
|
Ditto. Even the Tony Martin era is sabbath. Tony Iommi is sabbath and always has been.
|
Tony Iommi is the only ORIGINAL member from start to finish
|
im a Sabbath fan from the ozzy era, dont really know sabbath outside of ozzy era but how good is heaven and hell? and what is the lineup during that album?
|
Ehh i disagree about the whole Sabbath being Sabbath with every other singer. Sabbath really isn't Sabbath without Ozzy, they started with him and made their best work together. If it was the same with all the other vocalists wouldn't it make sense that they would be still together? The feel of all the others just doesn't give you that classic Ozzy feel. No one compares to him.
|
I think Ozzy is perfect for Black Sabbath, but Dio's voice just makes it sound so cheesy.
And Heaven And Hell is extremely overrated. |

I think Dio is a really cool singer and all his songs with Sabbath are cool but Ozzy will always be the best, they're just two really diffrent voices is all.
|

Sabbath is Sabbath without Ozzy. Some things you people dont realise is that Ozzy had hardly any musical input to the music at all. |

Yes, yes I would. You want to know why? Because it has Black Sabbath written on it. Therefore, it is a Black Sabbath album, not a Dio album. Ozzy was to be fair, a joke. He hardly wrote any of the songs, leaving it to Geezer/Iommi/Ward, in the later stages of the Ozzy years he just turned up and sang what was given to him. If Sabbath isn't Sabbath without Ozzy, why did he lost interest in the later years leading to him being sacked? They needed to get rid of him, badly. Aeon: Heaven and Hell is hardly overrated, Paranoid is far more overrated. Hell, the title song is nothing but a filler track written in a 5-minute lunch break. |
I first started listening to sabbath because i got into ozzy's solo stuff so whenever anyone mentioned Dio i got pissed off a went on a rant about how it's not black sabbath without ozzy...i still think that sabbath is ozzy, geezer, bill and tony. But i do accept that there are other lesser versions of it.

That is probably due to drugs and the fact that Tony was controlling everything about Sabbath. I think it was geezer that said that he was scared of getting booted out of sabbath so he never said anything when ozzy was fired or even when Tony took centre stage. |
Funny that, seeing as Tony formed the band originally.
|
Not really, he was in a band with Bill, Ozzy and geezer were in another band, both bands broke up. tony saw a sign in a music shop from ozzy saying that his band needed more members. Tony went to see him and that was the start of Sabbath...well pulka tulk.
So i wouldn't say that Tony started it seeing as how he didn't specifically get all the members together. p.s. i thought you were going to download? |
Meh, you have to get used to the power metalish vocals to "get" him.

Right... Try listening to it for a while, I bet you'll like it. It just takes some getting used to. |
I hate the opening few lines to heaven and hell,
"Sing me a song, you're a singer Do me a wrong, you're a bringer of evil The Devil is never a maker The less that you give, you're a taker" What the hell were they thinking when they wrote them? |
Right...

As we've said before, Sabbath is Sabbath. Ozzy doesn't make Sabbath. He is my personal favorite vocalist though for them. |

Ozzy's advert was for him as a singer - he auditioned for the vocal role in Rare Breed but the band fell apart before he ever performed with them. Ozzy's ad was still in the shop window after Mythology broke up and that's when Tony and Bill saw it and went round to see him. And of course, for a while they were called Polka Tulk Blues Band, then Earth Blues Band, then Earth, then Black Sabbath. |
I think Ozzy is perfect for Black Sabbath, but Dio's voice just makes it sound so cheesy.
And Heaven And Hell is extremely overrated.
It's a bloody sight better than the last Sabbath-with-Ozzy stuff. Even they thought it was under-par. |

Also the lyrics to Heaven and Hell are very typical of Dio's song style, it may be worth a few of you guys checking out Rainbow to see how similar that stuff is to his run in Sabbath. And Dio has a MUCH better voice than Ozz. |

I like Ozzy solo more than Dio solo though. |
Meh, they'll be back.

Tony's guitar and Geezer's bass are still very distinguishable from Rainbow or Dio tho'. Anyway, I like all 3. :thumb: |
Meh, they'll be back.
true, true...hopefully they'll play Newcastle, I'll go down with a load of mates if they do. |
can anyone suggest any songs of black sabbath without ozzy.a lot of people might say that ozzy is better but i heard some songs without ozzy and sounds good.please!

Well the only ones I own are Tyr and Dehuminizer both awesome albums. Tyr has Tony Martin and Dehuminizer has Dio, but Dehumizer is very different to anything either Sabbath or Dio has ever done so if youre looking for Dio stuff get Heaven and Hell. Which reminds me does anyone here have a copy of heaven and hell thats not a 96 remaster? Cause if there arnt any other remasters im gonna have to buy the vinyl. |

Iommi says on last supper that when he went it see ozzy he said that they already had a guitarist. |

Does matter about how much better singing talent they have? If we go like that Martin was the best singer sabbath had. When was the last time we had discussions like this? |
lol, although you do have to marvel at the sheer talent Martin has.
|
