Don't worry Stoicy, you can call me Jammie :p

On another note, me thinks I will collect some samplers now.

Stoic 02-15-2006 05:19 PM

If you need anything (except for cheesy modern euro power) tell me ;)

Stormrider 02-15-2006 05:22 PM

Well, I just posted my email in Steerpike's Slough Feg thread. I'll start with that.

But thanks.

Steerpike 02-15-2006 05:27 PM

Speaking of which, they should be in your inbox by now.

Stoic 02-15-2006 05:28 PM

Jammie:
haha I saw! I'm so looking forward to someone become Slough Feg fanboy like me :D

Alex
That was quick \m/

Stormrider 02-15-2006 05:31 PM

Yeah, I just got them, thanks Steerpike. Lookign foward to hearing them.

Lord Abortion 02-16-2006 06:40 PM

I love Kamelot. :)

Recently checked out bands:

Pagan's Mind
Olympos Mons
Warmen

I bought Warmen's Accept The Fact album and am lovin' it.

Stormrider 02-16-2006 08:01 PM

Damn, deleted my post again :p

Yeah, Kamelot is realy good. Hmm, from your list, theres Pagans Mind I must check out. Dark Moor is great too.

And Slough Feg I like more them all of them.

Shattered_Future 02-16-2006 08:06 PM

Pagan's Mind is...interesting. I want to strangle their vocalist every so often, but they write some interesting stuff.

Accept The Fact is good, aside from too many singers and the fact that you can generate better keyboard tones from Powertabs than Janne can make.
Here you go.
Like Stoic, who likes ABBA I might add, I thought that was a step towards pop. However, I did enjoy it quite a bit, but it was quite monotonous towards the end.
And, go with me on this one, imagine a world in which the 80's seasons of Space Ghost and the Superfriends had the money to hire good writers.
And ruin the brilliance that was Super Friends? Heresy.

Also, I bought Rhapsody's Rain of a Thousand Flames.

I quite like it so far, I'll give it a bit longer though, before I post a more detailed review.

Amazingly awesome cover-art.

isnt warmen just one huge keyboard solo?

Shattered_Future 02-17-2006 04:03 PM

It's actually not...there's vocalists on all of their albums.

If possible, you became even cooler.

As for the heresy comment, did you happen to see the last season of the Superfriends in the 80's? It didn't suck enough to be good in its badness. The classic seasons on the other hand were awesome.

Deth 02-17-2006 08:18 PM

That page on The Black Vulcan is fantastic.

My only exposure to the Super Friends is through Harvey Birdman though. I do love that show.

Harvey Birdman is messed up, he had a gay relashionship with Bobo from the Yogi bear show

The '80s one's were terrible. Especially when Adam West joined up and forgot to be silly and nonsensical. :p

that just doesnt sound right

Riva 02-18-2006 07:01 PM

Ok guys, I can unequivocally say that Rain of a Thousand Flames is on par with Symphony of Enchanted Lands II. Really great album, and it shows Rhapsody in their prime, I think. It's no suprise that this album lead up to SELII, either.

Lord Abortion 02-18-2006 07:25 PM

NP-Sabaton-Metal machine

I'm going to find all that they reference in this song.

There's lots.

Slapping Penguin 02-18-2006 08:31 PM

Is Hammerfall really power metal? Beacuse I have Legacy of Kings and that sounds really power metal to me but their stuff like Hearts on Fire and Blood Bound sound very rocky to me. I still consired them power metal though but I have heard TV claim they are like Swedens biggest ROCK icons at the moment.

^Dream~Theater^ 02-18-2006 08:33 PM

Yes their PM

Deth 02-18-2006 08:37 PM

Not very good power metal IMO, but power metal nonetheless.

Shattered_Future 02-18-2006 09:18 PM

Yea, Hammerfall is kind of standard...

Listening to When The Lights Go Down by Kamelot again. Great great song...

First line: Fear of the Dark - Iron Maiden
Second line: Afraid to Shoot Strangers - Iron Maiden
Third line: Love Gun - KISS
Fourth line: Most likely The Sentinel - Judas Priest
Fifth line: Crazy Train - Ozzy, Paranoid - Black Sabbath
Sixth line: Breakin' the Law - Judas Priest

Everyone, this is a public service announcement.

Buy Defenders of the crown by Human Fortress
Buy it Now.

Riva 02-20-2006 01:41 AM

Hey guys. Just letting you know that I just put up the poster of Dungeon I got with the Limited Edition for Resurrection. I've also adorned my CD wallet with the sticker.

Oh, and I'm digging the live album Under The Rising Sun: Live In Japan also. It's great.

Shattered_Future 02-20-2006 01:43 AM

That looked good, but lack of money forces me to not buy it...

Riva 02-20-2006 01:46 AM

I went to another city just to buy it! Shame on you, shame shame shame.

What would Tim think?

Shattered_Future 02-20-2006 01:47 AM

Would he rather have me BUY it, or STEAL it?

3 guesses.

That's on top of my list, once I gets me some spendin moneyr...

dUSK 02-20-2006 01:50 AM

Heh, I bought Resurrection twice just so that I could get that poster/sticker/Under The Rising Sun CD. The Legend of Huma sounds awesome live. I also picked up One Step Beyond last week, which I thought was pretty impressive.

/has since used neither the poster or sticker.

Riva 02-20-2006 01:52 AM

That and Resurrection sound the most awesome live.

Apocalyptic Raids 02-20-2006 02:00 AM

I got the Under The Rising Sun DVD for xmas. I love how you get the audio on another CD. Every DVD should do that.

Agreed on Resurrection being the best on that live album. That, and Insanity's Fall.

NP: Judas Priest - Nightcrawler

dUSK 02-20-2006 02:01 AM

On Under The Rising Sun I thought that Netherlife, Lost In The Light and I Am Death were done better than Resurrection. But that might just be me. Overall, it's an excellent CD.

The only downfall that I can think of is that the part in Insanity's Fall where the crowd does the "Ooooh~ Oh Oh Oooh" part isn't really loud enough. That's not Dungeon's fault though, as it's more something that gives you a great feeling from being a part of it. I doubt any band could capture something like that on record.

Apocalyptic Raids 02-20-2006 02:04 AM

Yeah. I actually like Insanity's Fall on there better than the record. I like how it's sped up. Going back and listening to it on the album it seems so slow in comparison :(

dUSK 02-20-2006 02:15 AM

While we're on the topic of Dungeon, Lord Tim did and interview with PyroMusic a while ago where he mentioned that the album art for the European/US release of Resurrection was one of his favourite Dungeon covers. Anyone know what it looks like? I don't think I've seen it.

Link to interview

Apocalyptic Raids 02-20-2006 02:24 AM

The only cover art I could find on amazon was the special edition, which also has cool cover art. My standard re-release cover art is kinda average in comparison (no offence to Tim)

It's a shame how he mentions they were about to set up an online merch store before the breakup :(

Hopefully there will be one for Lord. Speaking of Lord, I need to get A Personal Journey.
