I bought two books today.

What albums did you buy?

Cramboli 06-10-2009 07:00 PM

Lets ask Snoop if fmb is right...
I bought two books today.

What albums did you buy?
Peter Gabriel's first solo album (the first 4 are all untitled)
Bat For Lashes - Two Suns
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven
Explosions in the Sky - Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever
Windham Hill Sampler '89
Shadowfax - Folksongs for a Nuclear Village

All on vinyl.

I also bought (books):
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
The God Delusion

All of this paid for by birthday money (my birthday was last Friday). :thumb:

Spaceman Spiff 06-10-2009 07:11 PM

The only thing I've heard of those is that EITS album, which I dig.

I have The God Delusion, haven't read it, though.

The books I got are:
The Black Dahlia
Gone Baby Gone

I've been reading a lot of crime and detective fiction and nonfiction lately.

BenJammin 06-10-2009 07:15 PM

Nonfiction is one of those things I've just never been able to wrap my head around. I like mysteries, though, if they're well written (duh?).

Spaceman Spiff 06-10-2009 07:41 PM

I was never really into nonfiction until recently. I haven't read much, but I've read a few good books.

You should check out James Ellroy's My Dark Places. It's a book he wrote about his investigation of his mother's murder. It first tells about the murder when he was 10 years old, then he goes on to tell about his fucked up life (living on the streets for many years, stealing drugs and food and liquor every day, etc), then he tells about meeting up with this detective when he's in his 40's and they work together to try and solve the murder of his mother. It's a great book.

And for fiction, check out Dennis Lehane. I've been reading a series of books he wrote about these two private detectives, etc. He's a very good story-teller and he writes great characters. If you know the movie Gone Baby Gone, that's the 4th book in the series.

I like music.

gaslight 06-11-2009 03:07 AM

I like music too. God how strange that we all like music.

Mr. Pickle 06-11-2009 07:25 AM

I like turtles.

gaslight 06-11-2009 07:33 AM

Turtles, nature's RV.

Mr. Pickle 06-11-2009 08:00 AM

So I went to bed at 5:30, just to get up at 8 so I could go to a garage sale to look at a Wii, which is where I'm going now. If the price on this thing sucks, I'm going to kill someone.

Probably next person to post.

gaslight 06-11-2009 08:01 AM

Bring it.

The Wii too.

Efrim 06-11-2009 08:44 AM
No, what's it called?

On a vaguely related note, I picked up a copy of this yesterday:
The Trials Of Ezra Pound.

One of my old English teachers told me I would enjoy that book.

FunkMetalBass 06-11-2009 09:11 AM

Had a date last night that went REALLLLY well. It's hard to find intelligent girls that can carry on a conversation.

Efrim 06-11-2009 10:03 AM

Good for you.
I ordered a new crankset and brake levers for my Raleigh.

FunkMetalBass 06-11-2009 11:02 AM

Good for you.
My amp started freaking out on me toward the end of last practice. Using less than 50% volume the entire time, it just started cutting out to the point where it wouldn't work more than 5 minutes at a time.

I have no idea why. I emailed Carvin about it, but I'm waiting for a response. Do they make rack coolers? Maybe some cooling unit that takes up a single rack space, like a hard drive cooler in a computer?

Envy is an ugly thing.
Convert a mini fridge into a rack.

I had honestly considered this.

Moon Flavor 06-11-2009 12:19 PM

yeah i've heard iffy things about carvin amps

now their instruments on the other hand...

mfb 06-11-2009 01:07 PM

:) I'm getting my Carvin tomorrow. I ordered it at the end of April, I'm really excited!

^They mostly look like that, with variations on the number of fans. And then's there's the "ultrasuperquiet" ones too. :-/

And most take up 3RU, I don't believe I've ever seen one that was just 1RU.

EDIT: What do you have to do now for a direct link?

use the [ url ] tags.

I am going to try to make my own 1U fan system with some 25mm fans...I think they'll fit into 1U.

I'm also going to pull my compressor out of my rack and move my amp up a space so it has a rack space on top and bottom as opposed to just the top. I'm worried the problem may be deeper than overheating.

FunkMetalBass 06-11-2009 01:56 PM

A Unified Quantum Theory of the Sexual Interaction:
http://telescoper.wordpress.com/2009/05/20/a-unified-quantum-theory-of-the-sexual-interaction/

I started off thinking it was a joke, but the more I read, the more it made sense that this actually could be a fairly legit theory...

Moon Flavor 06-11-2009 02:23 PM

none of that made sense to me

FunkMetalBass 06-11-2009 02:34 PM

Damn. =(

Do you ever go through a slam poetry phase, where you just feel like writing some and surrounding yourself in poetry? I'm in that phase right now, and I think there is some good stuff coming from it.

Also, lol.

Taylor Mali, Reeves, Gemineye, Beau Sia, Mike McGee, and Heru Ptah are some of my favorite slam poets as a direct result of Def Poetry. I personally prefer Mali's "What Does a Teacher Make" over "Voice of a Nation."

To be honest, I can't find a girl poet that I really dig, even though half of the poets on that show are women.

Also, tell me this isn't awesome:

FMB - a 1u is 45mm I think, so 25mm fans should fit. Try it :) If you think it isn't just overheating though, I'd spend the 50 bucks on having someone give it a once over. Giving your amp a service once in a while isn't a bad idea anyway :)

Been looking at the 1u D class power amps from Thomann at the moment. Just over £500 for like 1200W per side at 4 ohms or something. Not looking to bridge it, so that looks pretty good. My QSC gives out 375W per side at 4 ohms and is a 2u D:

Spaceman Spiff 06-11-2009 06:49 PM

Ugh...

They're expecting a protest at work tomorrow of somewhere between 4000-7000 people. Lame.
